Hackers attacked Scientology with 220 Mbps DDoS

A group of hackers calling itself “Anonymous” has hit the Church of Scientology’s Web site with an online attack. The attack was launched Jan. 19 by Anonymous, which is seeking media attention to help “save people from Scientology by reversing the brainwashing,” according to a Web page maintained by Anonymous (offline now). The attacks were spurred by the Church’s efforts to remove video of movie star Tom Cruise professing his admiration for the religion, according to an Anonymous video manifesto posted to Youtube. “For the good of your followers, for the good of mankind and for our own enjoyment, we shall proceed to expel you from the Internet and systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in its present form,” a creepy computerized voice states in the video. Anonymous followed up this dispatch with a second video blasting the media for failing to completely report the group’s criticisms of the church. This video was taken down Friday by Youtube, citing a “terms of use violation.”

Anonymous has managed to generate a measurable attack against the Scientology.org Web site. Over the past few days, the site was hit with several DDOS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks, which flooded it with as much as 220 Mbps of traffic, according to Jose Nazario, a senior security engineer with Arbor Networks, whose company compiles data on Internet attacks. The Anonymous campaign shows some level of organization. “220 Mbps is probably about in the middle of attack sizes,” Nazario said. “It’s not just one or two guys hanging out in the university dorms doing this.” On average, the attacks lasted about 30 minutes and used up 168 Mbps of bandwidth. In the past year, Arbor has seen attacks on other sites hit 40 Gbps, or 200 times the strength of the Anonymous event.

Well as i said. When I came in I we did NOT have the internet to THINK for us. Seems that part missed you compleately as thats what does YOUR thinking.
Me I check things for myself and make my own mind up. I’d guess thats a new idea to you.
Thats OK. Scientology is NOT for you. You should stay as far away from it as you can and should NEVER under any circumstances read a book on it and for no reason above all else NEVER try any of it.
Please do me the favor of avoiding it it’s NOT for you.

“Me I check things for myself and make my own mind up.”
That’s precisely what I did. I have a friend who is ex-Scientologist and he had real stories.

Charge: Murder, extortion, money laundering, theft, blackmailing, conspiracy, etc

    Verdict: GUILTY! [slams gavel]

    Court adjourned.

Thanks. you have JUST proved my point. (I’m impressed you had the guts to admit it, this was too easy.) You have NO experience yourself. Hearsay from others and the internet do YOUR thinking, and making your mind up for YOU.

I have NO further time to WASTE on you.

    Good Bye.

ROFTL! Does it even matter if I have my own experience as long as I’ve got a credible source? Absolutely not! My friend’s testimony is good enough. In fact, it’s PROOF. I don’t need to experience it myself to know the dangers of Scientology because I already have living proof.

You just keep proving the same point over and over and don’t even get it. You go on others experience AND opinions NOT your own.
    Sad really.
Not a good commentary on our moderen computer orientated society at all.
The worst part is you not only don’t get it you most likely never will.

Are you still here? BACK — so soon? Well anyways — JACK — it still doesn’t negate the — FACT — that Scientology is…evil. Testimony is as reliable as the testimony we have in our history text books. In — FACT — it is written my friend that historically Scientology is evil. :)

And please don’t come — BACK.

Sorry son saying it on the internet does NOT a fact make. No matter how loud long or how many blogs claim it to be fact.
But like I said you don’t get it and likely never will.

Jack go to Scientology i see u if u r an scientology victim or ur childs /ur whole family. And no one here is ur son so go and let ur brain pimp by scientology. Scientology is the most dangerous “religion”, they corrupt Governments and People for their World domination. They must be stopped as soon as we can.

Once again son I don’t use the Internet to think for me I observe for myself on my own experience. Something that it’s obvious YOU are NOT willing and IMHO unable to do.

I’d suggest strongly you stay as far from Scientology as you possibly can. it’s NOT for you or those like you. Only for those who CAN make their own minds up and are capable of observing for themselves from their own experience and have the curage to do so.

    Not you son.

I don’t know much about Scientology, but I know it’s evil. I can tell by its reputation. We can know something by the kind of “fruit” it bears.

So I have a few questions regarding Scientology:

1.) what’s the only thing that can show you who you really are?

2.) what ties does it have to eastern religions?

3.) What’s Scientology’s major thoughts on other religions?

You are right. You know next to NOTHING about Scientology. Except what you beleive you know from the internet.

I’ve no time or interest in trying to attempt to teach someone whose mind is already made up on something he admits he knows little about and has NO experience with.
Have a good life son. Stay as far as you can away from Scientology.

Scientology preys on the universal instinctual human fear of death and grief about death. They start their attack either on the very young or people who are in a bad emotional state very similar to the way “cults” attract the downtrodden in our modern world. That is because Scientology is essentially a “cult” and only stopped being called a “cult” after having been around long enough to get powerful enough to force the media to stop calling them “cults.” Right now that transition is going on with two “religions’, The Mormons and the Scientologists. The Mormons are further along on the cult to bona fide religion tract then the Scientologist but the Mormons have had more time.

The young or those in a bad way emotionally are susceptible to brainwashing. This is especially true if the brainwasher can give something that individual need on an emotional level. Children all need to feel security from adults so that venue is obvious and those in bad emotional states are usually very alienated and the introduction of the “believers” into the intended victims life satisfies an immediate need to not be alone.

Once in the web of the religion, the brainwashing starts. There is always a great deal of DOGMA (be it scriptures or writings or books) that must be read. The most important trick however, is that the victim is told very clearly at the beginning if they don’t understand or agree with the writing, that is ok, JUST ACCEPT IT ON FAITH at first. Of course, they are later told to even consider challenging any of the dogma is the work of the Devil or in some cases (scientology or similar ideas like Christian Science) are told that the lack of faith reflex an emotional problem INTERNAL to the believer. In other words, if you doubt this you are sick (emotionally or spiritually or by influence of the devil) and that is why you doubt it, nothing to do with Dogma you might be doubting.

Once firmly implanted and doubts subdued you are told that other need this good news. Since you have benefited “so much” from this religion you are expected to go and convert others in order to SAVE them. Of course let’s consider the reasons behind THIS:

    1) More people means more money coming into the religion
    2) More people represent more power within the local society at large
    3) More people mean more people to affirm that the dogma is true and “real”.

Are you going to get out or talk me to death? :)

Jack, this is not based on Internet information. It goes beyond the internet but is based in real life. My real life. This is based on 2nd hand experience research, first hand account research of what I know about Scientology. Personal research, my friend. It was like I was there. :)

The mistake you AND you friend both make is thinking THAT was Scientology. Scientology is in the Books and tapes HCOB’s and HCOPL’s Issued by L.Ron Hubbard himself. NOT someones misinterputation and misapplication of same calling it Scientology. I’ve seen MUCH of THAT and in EACH case I’ve personaly looked into there have been in writinh policies saying DON’T do just THAT.

This is why I personaly find it so funny when i see people like you ranting about scientology or what you THINK is Scientology because you wewre told that by someone who himself may very well have BELEIVED it himself.

But i will congradulate you you ARE staying as far from Scientology as you can get. please continue to do so.

Me I have lots to do and no more time to wase in here as for me it’s only been a way of killing some time in between classes, Auditing in my Field Practice and my Volunteer Minister work as well as my Computer Market Research Business. About the level of TV watching as to seriousness of endever.

Point being I’m getting buiser so won’t have time OR interest to waste any more time here.

Have a good life and i wise you well sincerly in it.
