Guitar Hero updated with downloadable content

Despite a lack of ample storage space, Activision makes good on its word in announcing Thursday that Wii owners will be getting downloadable Guitar Hero expansion tracks. According to Activision, the newly confirmed Guitar Hero World Tour will be the “first game ever in the Guitar Hero franchise to allow in-game downloadable content on Wii.” The news comes as several publishers have voiced concern over the lack of a Wii hard drive, which discourages developers from releasing downloadable content on Wii, unlike Xbox 360 and PS3 which both support hard drive storage. Nintendo has yet to propose a viable solution.

The Wii does have internal storage for saving game content, but only 512MB worth — hardly enough to meet the download demands of wired gamers. And while the system supports the use of SD cards for storage, games and content cannot be played from external cards currently. In March, Harmonix said the Wii version of Rock Band (June 22) would not support downloadable tracks like Xbox 360 and PS3 versions “because the Wii’s online capabilities and potential have yet to be fully realized, and we wanted to wait before we explored online functionality for Rock Band to ensure that players get the high-quality of online performance they’ve come to expect.”

They should produce some PC downloadable stuff, they released the game with a nice download button, but never did a thing. I’ll never ever buy another game with this type of support…

Yes. They should release downloadable PC content. I bought the PC game myself and thought they would release something, but after months of waiting, there’s still nothing. Good thing I found out about custom songs from ScoreHero =)

Yea , ScoreZero is very good , and easy to understand their tutorials on how to add custom songs.

Meh, the scorehero songs, most of them at least, are horrifically bad and out of sync. There’s an iso floating around for GH3 with all but the last teir of songs replaced, get that as most are playable.

GH3 is laggy and buggy on pc anyways, it’s really a shame, it’s pretty fun on the consoles.

Two of the computers in my house both play a bootleg of guitar hero 3 (bought the xbox controllers at wal-mart). I don’t use any of the online features, but they run full quality and have never once had any bugs or lag at all. I recently installed the new patch but it still plays the exact same for me (except now with in-game ads). Although, I would like some extra content.

That screen shot is from GH4. It now features Drums, Bass (which has it’s own career too) and Vocals…

What you see in that screenshot is the create a track mode which is also in :)

Great news, thanks for the info about GH4. Let’s hope the Rock Band controllers will work with it so that we don’t have to shell out another 160€ for even more plastic.

The PC version is the same port as the 360 the song data is identical the problem is the release groups and game hackers have forgot about this game already, will there be a crack for update patch 1.3? For the people that say the PC version runs bad try this!

I have a P4 prescott 3.6 with a 1024mb pc-3200, and a GeForce 6600, I had to overclock the card to make it play at all, so I picked up a 8500GT with 512 DDR2, but was disappointed when it ran better with the 6600 with the overclock, But if I override the triple buffer on the graphics card using riva tuner and d3d0verrider the game runs awesome at any Resolution level except for the High detail option. I am currently playing with all the options on full and Resolution one higher than 800×600 “”because it looks better than the 360 port”" and getting 60-80 FPS. Except for the high detail, that I think is there only to make any system sweat.

It will run on slower systems try it! Most people have a 512 MB GFX card so if you do give it a whirl! If you don’t go buy one!

Frig man, you got my hopes up! :( lol Oh well… The main reason I bought GH3 for pc was for the extra downloadable content, because a lot of the time it’s sweet songs. I was really upset when I found out you can’t.

    can’t wait for gh4 and gh-arosmith

The rock band equipment for PS3 better work this time or i’m going to be very frustrated and never buy an activision game again.

wow all this computer talk and x box this and that. thought their would be more wii players venting their disgust over the fact that we can’t download any content if we have the channels full of games that we’ve downloaded. Nintendo needs to get on the ball. I no long have much room for anything and I refuse to put games on an SD card and shuffle them back and forth when i need space for other things. Hard Drive Upgade Please Nintendo.
