Arguably, the most anticipated release of 2009, 21st Century Breakdown is the eighth studio album from American punk-rock heroes Green Day. Following a string of commercial hits, the monumental success of 2004s groundbreaking American Idiot secured the trios place in rock history. Nearly five years in the making, the unenviable task of recording a follow-up to one of the most talked about albums of recent times has resulted in a passionate, bold and cut-throat release in the shape of 21st Century Breakdown.

    Not even good old pop-punk. They've lost any edge they had, even American Idiot was more punky than this.

    It's just not Green Day sounding anymore.

    Me likes. It's not the best album of all time, and, yes, some of the ballads run a little emo, but there's some phenomenal tracks on this. Wow.

    When bands do well, there's so many forces that conspire to compromise future work. That's why it's very rare to find a group that consistently good work. Green is definitely the exception to the rule. On first listening, this may not be up to American Idiot caliber, but to be honest, the first time I listened to American Idiot, I didn't think that much of it. Regardless of whether or not it grows on me (I get the feeling it will), I still think it's very solid showing.

    There is nothing more i hate than a bunch of whiners, over the years i've been disappointed time and time again from failed album releases of my favorite bands. But not with this was because even though yes, it's not american idiot or nimrod and certainly as hell isn't insomniac or dookie.

    It's still a great album and i'm positive will have great success, oh and by the way to the loser who said this is emotastic. Two things 1. grow up, NO SERIOUSLY! stop living in the past you douche, and 2. Please will all do respect go have a bunch of emo f#gs rape you, so you may understand as well as give a proper definition to such an ignorant phrase.

    The album is… fabulous, really. There's one track that has a "Welcome to Paradise"-like feel, and all of the songs are just… they're fantastic as far as I'm concerned.

    I hate seeing the word "emo" thrown around when 90% of the bands it's attached to are not emo. GD are not emo. They're pop rock, earlier stuff was pop punk.

    This album sounds like Warning. If you like Warning, I figure you'll like this.
