Great World of Sound LIMITED DVDSCR XviD-ThiNKFiLM

This really is a weekend of limited movies: Great World of Sound is another addition to already huge number of limited releases which appeared in last 2 days. This R-rated comedy won few awards at independent film festivals so it could be an interesting choice.

In today’s American Idol culture, the road to success and fame is paved with deceit and manufactured talent. The Great World of Sound astutely addresses the growing trend of people looking for a shortcut to fame, as well as examines the people who promise such an easy path. The story follows Martin, who answers an ad from a company training prospective “music producers.” During training, he pairs up with Clarence, a middle-aged man trying to change his career path. As record producers, the two travel to towns where the company has placed newspaper ads to find undiscovered musicians. They’re seeking talent for the record label, signing new artists and giving them a chance to let their music be heard…for a small fee. It’s going great until cracks start appearing in the company’s sheen, and Martin and Clarence begin to question whether the company is as virtuous as it claims to be.

    If you’re going to download, use the rapidshare/megaupload links. The torrent on newtorrents is freezing at 81.7% completion. I guess the uploader didn’t seed a 100& copy to other downloaders than stopped seeding or something…uhg I hate it when this happens.

    Hey guys, I read the nfo and it doesn’t say anything, but any b&w scenes/property messages? Most screeners in the last few days have been littered with those.

    @17 Heidi:

    “hello put some good movies on here this sucks like horror movies”

    I totally agree! Horror movies do totally suck! E.g. like that zombie thingy that has just been released :-(

    In contrast though, this “Great World of Sound” movie might be really interesting … Certainly GREAT is “The Hunting Party (2007)” – I have just seen that!

    Other enormous recent films that pop to mind are “Freedom Writers (2007″, “American Gangster (2007)”, “Black Snake Moan (2006)”, “Catch a Fire (2006)”, “The Last King of Scotland (2006)”, “Little Children (2006)”, “Akeelah and the Bee (2006)”, and dozens more. But you have certainly seen them all already, haven’t you, Heidi?

    Putting the RT score is an excellent idea, much better than IMDB for just a synopsis and a good selection of reviews.

    Nice one Martin

    Damn this sounds good.I heard on the tv here in new Zealand from a program i cant remember now anyway they did a survey. Most people didn’t care about a career they wanted to be famous.Ill grab this on Sunday when i get more broadband.Im going into performing arts not because i want fame because id like to give it a go.In fact i wouldn’t want fame i would just like a job like that so everyone has to work as a team if they didn’t the performance would fail and your job.At the moment where iam in a government department its like being in the circus where some the animals work when the feel like it lol.

    Yeah, from skimming through no black and white scenes (which I saw) but really horrible blurred timer/property mark dead center top of the pic. I don’t mind the blurred logos but this one’s really in a terrible location.

    I’m tired of all the slams against these little indie films horror or otherwise. MOVE ON if you don’t like them we don’t need to read those SAME lame a88888ss comments.

    #27 Maddog: “but really horrible blurred timer/property mark”

    Ass a matter of fact I feel kind of special when I am watching a totally new movie with timer and and bells and whistles. I do actually feel like Martin Scorcese or Stanley Kubrick, checking dailies, or like an academy award guy. Totally cool. :-) )

    This is off topic but realyl wanted to get hold of the RS links for a film previously posted call ‘you, the living’. I figured since it was an indie movie someone in here might have it.

    Thanks !!!

    #32 – dafunk: I haven’t seen Du Levande (You, The Living) available as anything other than a torrent (try Pirate Bay). Worth seeking out, though.
