Grand Theft Auto IV trailer is online!
Grand Theft Auto aka GTA is the only game that I have played all episodes of. I remember the game that came out sometimes in 1997 and the last that came out in the summer of 2005. San Andreas was the last game that Rockstar Games brought out of the GTA 3 trilogy. At the end of 2007 GTA IV will be released for consoles only. I don’t know the date of the PC release, but I really hope they bring it out for PC too. The last game “San Andreas” came out for the PC 8 months after the console releases. The trailer supposed to come out today but the site is out of order right now, it might be because of high bandwidth, but it will be back online sooner or later.
Ahhh for fuk sake… all that time watchin the count down and then it doesnt work……. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY… aghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Given all the hype, the trailer was a complete letdown. The game will take place in Liberty City (looks to be present day), the graphics are obviously better than San Andreas, but not great by today’s standards.. and that’s pretty much all we find out in the 1 min trailer. No details on how the gameplay will be any different. Oh yeah, and it seems like the protagonist will be some Russian immigrant..

Kevin, don’t be such an ass. So far, all the GTA games have been based on some real life city. GTAIII = NEW YORK, Vice City = Miami, San Andreas = LA/San Fran/Las Vegas. So maybe this time they’re going with NY, or maybe it’s just a more detailed Liberty city - what fucking difference does it make?

@phishybongwaters - missed your post earlier. Yeah it’s a teaser, but all the hype was that this was going to be MORE than just a teaser. So in that sense it was a bit of a letdown.
As for my post being a spoiler - I posted after the trailer was already out (duh) - and this is a blog post about the trailer, so wtf do you expect people to post about? If you don’t want to know about the content of the trailer before seeing it then don’t read the blog titled “Grand Theft Auto IV trailer is online!”.
The first GTA on the PC was done to be like real cities.
Liberty City = New York City
San Andreas = San Francisco
Vice City = Miami
Then they where made into their own game when GTA was on the Playstation.
Then when GTA San Andreas was released they model the 3 cites on
Los Santos = Los Angeles
San Fierro = San Francisco
Las Venturas = Las Vegas

Woohoo van’t wait to get my claws into this game, can’t go wrong with gta series! So far by the trailer the game is looking very pretty, hopefully they they don’t focus on the graphics too much since graphics don’t mean jack in the gta series… it’s all about the superb gameplay and story.

To all you idiots - LIBERTY CITY IS BASED ON NEW YORK. Just like Vice City was based on Miami, and San Andreas was based on LA, SF, and LV. Now with next gen hardware the developers can make the city look more realistic (including more landmarks etc.), but it’s still Liberty City.

lol its not due to legal reasons, Rockstar just like to make things unique and interesting.
Rockstar were never allowed to use the real cities, that is why they are changed (slightly) in the games like people have already said, Liberty CIty is based on New York, and as I said they were never given permission to use the real cities for the type of game it is. (Which is a shame really) but who cares, it’s a game and it will Kick Ass like most Rockstar titles

Don’t forget the LCPD. Most people missed the cop car when the camera is zooming/zipping away on normal eye level. You can clearly see LCPD. Not NYPD. And LCDP most likely stands for Liberty City Police Department. There are about 5 references to Liberty City in the trailer.
The city may be modeled after NY, but we all know how using a existing city’s name creates a lot of controversy for some games. And at the same time, they use a name thats already known to the old GTA players.

They had 1 real name city ; GTA: LONDON 1969
Which was an “addon” to the original GTA back in the day (for those of you who didn’t know that), and I’m glad that this game one is NOT based on a country where you drive on the left side of the road, maybe the next GTA is based in Europe, but it was a fucking pain in the ass to drive on the left side

As far as people arguing over the name of the city? It does have NYC landmarks, but it is called Liberty City.
Frankly I could care LESS if they called it “the lost city of GTA”! It will STILL be one of the best games of 2007.
All I want is realistic car physics. If I have a head on with a bus at 160mph, my car should crumple like tissue paper and my body parts should be peppering the ruin, it shouldn’t simply bounce off the bus with only slight damage.
