Grand Theft Auto 4: perfect game

Highly-anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) IV has received a string of near-perfect reviews ahead of its worldwide release on Tuesday. The game is expected to break records for the fastest-selling game of all time and many shops are opening their doors at midnight for gamers. The game has been classified as 18 in the UK and Mature for US gamers. In the US, regulators have reminded parents that the title is not designed for children under 17 years old. In a joint statement the ESRB and the National Institute on Media and the Family urged parents to check ratings on games for their children.

It said: “With the latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series… parents need to be reminded to make sure their kids are playing games appropriate for their age and level of maturity. “It is critical that parents consider the assigned rating carefully.” The GTA series has proved incredibly popular and almost equally controversial in the last few years. More than 70 million copies of the franchise’s titles have been sold worldwide but the series has also been criticised for glorifying violence. Needless to say, the game was leaked to the internet last week and quickly became one of the most popular console torrents in the history.

    I wonder if they will even release it on PC… nah they have to right? Pc sales are still pretty high, so they’d be cutting into their own profits if not.

    Either way i aint buying a ps3 or xbox. Consoles suck, my pc rocks. Ill just emulate the game :D

    If your buying a console just for this game then choose 360. They have exclusive rights to extra game content which releases in the fall plus the online aspect is way better than with PS3.

    I have an xbox 360 and this game and gotta say….
    get the PS3 version the xbox360 version looks jaggedy running at 720p on a 32 lcd….the ps3 version is supposed to clear up the aliasing issues.

    It has a few glitches, but still the best game ive ever played.
    Gonna be picking up my offical copy tomorrow

    Im getting PS3 version only becuase i dont play 360 anymore and the fact M$ had to pay a small fortune for the DLC just sucks IMO, why they just dont let the consol do the talking i dont know but I have read many websites saying the PS3 version is better overall unlike normally when they get the same reviews but which ever consol you have it on, just enjoy

    A shallow, repetitive, graphically uninspired game… I never did understand how GTA 3 got so popular. Maybe it was the subtle humor… In any case, there are tons of better games around, and this just goes to prove people just wanna be criminals because they see it as cool.

    I live in australia, I ordered my copy from the UK so I can get to see all the titties and violence that our censored version wouldn’t have.
    Bad news is its going to take a few more days to get here
    Good news is that it only cost me A$55 delivered. Cant wait!

    I’ve bought PS3 exclusively for GTA IV. Why not x360? Because I don’t want to replace the the hair-dryer cooling system right after purchase. PS3 is running silently.

    40 more gaming hours on the xbox version? Yes, I know that. But I’m ready to bet, that the agreement between Rockstar and M$oft was only for the release time. Therefore I’m sure that the additional 40 hours of gaming will be available for PS3 as an add-on or upgrade at a later time. For free or very small fee, like $9,99.

    PC version will also be available. If the game is already ported on XBOX360, PC port will take very small amount of human / technical resources. PC version release date will be announced later this year.

    what pisses me off about rockstar games is that they only release 1 or 2 patches. GTA San Andreas still has bugs.. They make good games but when it comes time to actually fix the games they are lazy bastards.

    I personally think that we’ll be seeing GTA IV on PC some time next year as they’ll need some time to fix up some basic problems, bugs etc. that won’t be acceptable if the game was to be ported onto PC now. One example of this is some of the things such as the infamous palmtree from San Andreas in which CJ would keep ‘bumping into’ upon his exit form a girlfriend’s house. On the PC version of the game however, (also released later than the console) the palm tree itself was completely removed thus preventing the ‘problem’ occurring. If simple things such as this were to add up and the game hit PC too early, no amount of patches or bugfixes would be able to set it straight.

    it’s a 95% game at best, not nearly a 100% game (10/10). no way in hell. I mean, if GTAIV is 10/10, then GTAIII or Vice City should’ve been 11/10 when they came out

    I think the PC version will take about half a year to release.
    Sure it’s a bit sneaky, to get us to buy a console for the game, but it’s freakin worth it!

    I mean, I bought a PS3 for GTA IV and Little Big Planet, the last one, wich is gonna rock everyone’s ass so bad to buy a Playstation 3. LBP will definately be a console-seller.
    But GTA IV I think will sell a lot of PS3’s because I suspect the graphics to be slightly better, although no downloadable content, who gives a rat’s ass, I personally say, F*CK Microsoft and it’s bloodsucking friends!

    Wake up guys! It’s foolish to expect to release the pc version before or closely after the console version. That would kill their sales and profits!!!! You will have to wait several months until they’ve made enough profits from the consoles. The only compensation is that the pc version would be definitely superior in graphics, if you have the proper pc to run it of course….

    I understand that many 360 owners out there arn’t about to change to PS3 (Although I did, but I only bought the xbox as a stop gap) but i don’t know anyone that bought anything other than a Playstation recently!

    If you’re not into GTA then fairplay but otherwise IV will be the best game ever.

    If it moves forward with a step as big as Vice to SA it will be amazing, as this is a console jump version…OMG it should be good!

    have the game, its AMAZING, obviously theres a few issues, but by far its the best game made to date, and i play WoW and Cod4, and team fortress, among much else… anyone that hates on the GTA series, i know these people, its because they arent very good at driving cars in games, lol…. dont listen to them…. It looks great on both systems, and for all you PC nerds, this game will be out in 2010 on the PC, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, by then i will be on to bigger and better things = ) and Rockstar has alrready stated that they will have little to no involvement with PC’s when it comes to tournys and downloaded expansion content is 360 exclusive.

    it will most likely suffer the same fate as the other gta games do, play it for a few hrs, realise all the missions are as detailed and fun as the average side mission in stalker, do the gun cheat, mow down pigs with the minigun, steal cars, drive around, and get bored a day later.

    and never go back to it again.

    i’ve been playing this for a while, i havn’t found any collectables, (like in previous gta’s).

    no wanted level items to reduce that, only seen one jump on a bridge.

    don’t get me wrong wicked game so far, cars are great, scenery is awesome, love the private lap dancing, but come on thats what gta was all about collecting bonuses, finding all those secrets etc etc.

    maybe they’ll put it in the pc version.

    Forth installment looks good but since the 3rd one the sequels have pretty much been the same. Vice City was overated and I couldn’t really be bothered to play San Andreas, it seemed pretty much the same game but set in a different evironment. This one is probably worth buying because its on a next generation consoles but I’ll pass on the inevitable sequels.

    You need flash your xbox dvd drive with computer. google like “xbox 360 flashing” or something. then you have to burn this game to DVD+R DL rom… then you can play, but not online, because you get BANNED!

    played a bit couple days, is ok , nothing special, more of an evolution than a revolution. prefer the car handling this time , overall id give it 7/10 coz its a gta game and i like the formula, but frankly the magazines/online reviewers are widly overhyping with 10/10 scores.

    while im here i should mention ICON release of this game doesnt work very well , missing textures, frame rate from hell, makes the game a bit annoying.. perhaps an interesting copy protection from the developers
