Scene version was just released by ‘group’ xSCR. It’s a 1 CD version, the p2p versions were splitted onto 2 CD’s. Haven’t sceen this movie yet, but I certainly will:) . Video sample included+forum link

Walt Kowalski (Eastwood), a racist Korean War veteran, becomes increasingly unhappy at the influx of Hmong people to his neighborhood. After he catches Tao (Vang), a teenage Hmong neighbor, attempting to steal his 1972 Gran Torino as part of a gang initiation, the boy is forced by his tradition-oriented family to work for Kowalski in penance. Estranged from his children and grandchildren, and having just lost his wife, Kowalski gradually becomes friendly with Tao and his family, learning about Hmong culture. He attempts to protect Tao and his sister Sue (Her) from the gang.

    “p2p releases were split into 2 cds”-err no they werent! kingben was a single file-too big for one cd disc yes but burnt to dvd no problem-so certainly wasnt a 2 disc release.

    Watched this last night – great movie! Not exactly like Eastwood’s old western movies, but still great nonetheless. I know lots of Hmong people, and some of the things that they do in the movie is a bit… stretched.

    frost nixon is good from what ive seen. I cant believe how easy it is getting to get good quality movies BEFORE theyre even released!! this cant go on forever… eventually something will change.
    I have a feeling rather then being a legal change it will be a technology change which will allow the movie/game studios to reign in piracy. Once media becomes cheap enough we’ll see games and possibly movies stored on a type of flash thumb drive which could have some crazy kind of self checking encrpytion, and be able to run the media entirely from the drive.

    @35-interesting point but I dont think so tbh-eventually any protection system designed by a human being can be cracked by another-may not happen immediately but will eventually.

    studios have already told academy voters that next year all “for consideration” screeners will be blu ray-maybe for better quality or maybe because they have some mad idea it will slightly reduce piracy but of course it wont.

    I am sure they will find some way to slow up the process-a coupla years ago they used cinea protection which took the experts about a month to crack-really the reason they cannot stop it is that there are just far too many random people on their oscar voting mailing list-some of them for very strange reasons-there is a guy in glasgow who met mel gibson many years ago on the set of braveheart and mel got him on the list-he is no film “expert”,just a guy who had a few drinks with mel ffs! every week he gets packages through his door from the film studios with pre release copies of every movie going-now in all that time he has NEVER given anyone a copy to my knowledge but just shows if someone can get on the list for no valid reason there must be dozens if not hundreds like that!

    best way to get around RS DL time limits is to get a RS resetter or use another download source like megaupload etc.
    I personally really hate any form of website that copies the RS time count down til you have hit the link to download or that 1 hour BS to get another file, freak them.

    Barky,
    you are actually wrong on a few points. The academy has not told their members that next year is only blu-ray. They started offering blu-ray screeners this year(warner’s to be exact) to those who wanted them. It will be the same next year where you can have your choice. It wont be probably 2 or 3 years down the line maybe that it is only blu ray screeners.

    Also, cinea protection was never broken by anyone. It was just that just about every movie that had cinea protection also had ones shipped to some members without it and those were the ones that ended up on the net. Only Disney had total cinea protected screeners and look back and see those disney ones that got ripped. They were transcoded and looked horrible like vhs rips. Cinea was only discontinued because members were annoyed at the hassle and having to work the special players and if they went on vacation around this time they had to carry the players with them and they broke easily

    You forget most Oscar voters are pretty old.

    That being said, does anyone have any rapidshare links to the actual DVD screener of Gran Torino. Megashares sucks

    Theres ample evidence to show that early internet releases have no effect on box office. I put forward I Am Legend, which appeared about 9 days i think after theatre release and had no noticable effect on box office losses and also American Gangster which appeared 2 weeks before the cinema. Just compare how it still blew away all prediction forcasts at the box office and youll see.

    10 and 40 I’ve been using Flashgot and multiget under linux and I just copy the links like the 4 from frado and right click and pick flashgot link and that’s it I do that 4 times and they all download for me…no time limits no captchas no premium account nothing so far that’s been working hope this helps someone.

    This movie is a major disappointment. Worst acting I’ve seen for an Oscar hopeful. The 2 hmong children are stretches as far as acting go. Eastwood is done too. How can any of you call THAT acting?! Would I have known that the acting was this bad I wouldn’t of wasted my time. Ugh. Sounds like they are reading from the script still. So done.

    To #84 don’t trust to much on torrents I got caugth downloading a movie by torrent, i got my isp disconnected by a month and I received a long letter saying when I downloaded it and the time and name of the movie..I got a second chance…So becareful when downloading movies that are not yet out in theaters…

    Should have been nuked. Audio is way out of sync by at least 10 frames or more less then 10 minutes into the film
