=DD wouldn't then want to get in trouble with the feds in the US.

"Funny I’d have to explain this to someone living in Europe as your media is like my media, free and unbiased, so these facts are being reported."

It's just that we Finns aren't particularly interested in your Jack-Bauer-and-the-goverment-is-evil-mmkay?? crap.

"must be nice living in that fantasy world."
It's called Finland and it is actually quite nice to live here. Ty for asking. Most uncorrupted country in the world btw speaking of the corruption. :)

"The Goverment has to have proof that you are involved in serious acts of crime against the law before they can track anything. Unless they don’t, they have serious trouble if it’s found out that they’ve tracked your cell without adequate proofs. That’s pretty much the law concerning mobilephone tracking allaround the EU-region."

MUAHAHAHAH

must be nice living in that fantasy world. Firstly those are the laws in the European region, well guess what, the US has decided they get to pick and choose which laws they follow and yourr aint on their list.

In REALITY, all they need to is say "National Security Reasons" and they can AND WILL do anything they want. Funny I'd have to explain this to someone living in Europe as your media is like my media, free and unbiased, so these facts are being reported.

I thinl google could really hit the market bigtime, if they release a mobile phone that can also be used as a voipo headset/phone. Add the fact of being ale to sync your gmail account, it sounds lke a great idea to me.Especially if the phone is well made, small and cheap. Voip headset with a heap of extras that can be used as your mobile...

There's already GPS-service with 100 maps preloaded in some Nokia phones too and you can use Google Earth as well. And example indicate your jogging route later on your laptop..
http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/index.html
The area that Google could excel in would be most likely the integrity with Webbrowser/Email/Phone. Nothing more I'm afraid.
BTW: The Goverment has to have proof that you are involved in serious acts of crime against the law before they can track anything.
The big thing with this googlephone will be the integration of google services. Googleearth on your phone anyone? Bult in gps that you yourself can use (all cell phones have gps the government can track you with).

Then you get into the google apps and such they are launching. Might be a product line to keep an eye on.

You can already watch youtube via Nokia phones that have S60 3rd 9.1 as system and the Feature Pack firmware update. Its preinstalled in Nokia N95 for an example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFHhrr75pZg
Skype is also installable for Nokia phones as well as MSN Messenger and others.. including Google's own GoogleTalk.

So don't really see where Google's phone might come handy..
Even if they manage to design and produce one in the first place. :P

Come on Google produce your own phone and take losses of your lifetime against Nokia!

Like F, I wont sit here and complain about Google or any one else. Have a look at Virgin. I wonder how many people thought they should stick to what their bussine was and leave the rest to the "big" boys in the market.
Sometimes it takes a fresh or strange outlook.

lol
in couple of years everyone will be using McPhones, iPhones, GPhones,... atleast it seems so at the moment. I just can't understand why someone like google would like to go into as highly competitioned market segment as mobile phones. Smalltimeplayers like apple and google will be in a heap of trouble if they try to keep the cost equally low as the big mobilephone players(nokia, moto, samsung, ...). Google has to create all the logistics, factories, suplierchains, etc. from scratch which most propably ain't easy!

The bottom line is this, Google phone plus WiMAX means a huge shift away from ISP. Google does not need to kiss their a$$e$, infact it does not need them at all.

Google Phone connecting straight to the internet which can

1) make calls using google talk
2) make calls to normal numbers and other gtalk client (free)
3) cheap net access, google would be the ISP
4) allow video/audio/graphic uploading to its services for free...

Roll on the next gen, Im sick of Voda and the lot of them...!!

anything though that pisses off the telecom's, like VOIP cell phone, is going to end up causing a lot of trouble. the telecom's have a death-grip right now, they pay congress a lot of money, and they won't like to see any company screw with their monopoly.

people here forget something - nobody forces you to use google phone or apples phone. so screaming globalization or "stick to your own business" is pointless. if you dont like it - dont use it. I bet google can/will do more for the mobilephone industry than apple. Apple was is and will be a fashion statement for some time. I do not say their products are shitty, im saying they are overhyped and overpriced. Google has taken the free/cheap(ad supported) way of doing things and i doubt they will do anything expensive for the end user. Still, only speculation...

Yeah, like the internet starts and ends with YouTube. It's only a matter of time till someone will have a better idea, and youtube is out... I would rather think about some more internet power on my mobile phone, a cheaper connection at a higher speed... But this is Vodafone or Orange or another giant's business... Google's business is to make money from anything it seems.

This is getting stupid.
I mean, companies are starting to produce things they have absolutely no experience with.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that Google is designing a car...

Globalization, shit...
