erm… look at the sponsored links panel. they scanned your mail to match those ads. and they track users cross-site anywhere there is adsense. and you’re reading your mail over non-secure http connections. thats not unicorns, thats understanding gmail is about as secure as stapling your mail to a bulletin board in a coffee shop. it’s great, it’s free, but it’s not on your side.

Their fine print…

Wait a sec… Are y’all seriously telling me that on a site where clinical levels of paranoia are commonplace, people think letting Google keep (scan, sell, conveniently centralize for authorities, ect) their mail for them is a good idea?

Sheesh, those tinfoil hats really do block the wrong kind of mind control rays…

You have to set Language settings to English (US), doesn’t work on many others…

some ppl say google is getting to powerful and knows (or at least could know) way too much about its users…that may be true but other than microsoft googles products are just plain good. gmail is the best freemail service i have ever used..same for google documents, the calendar and so on…
