Google Earth adds space view
Google, having brought the Earth into our living rooms, has turned its eye to the heavens to bring us the sky at night. About 250 million people have used Google Earth’s satellite pictures to look at their homes – or their neighbours’ – from space, or to view weird and wonderful geological features. The internet facility has now been expanded, as part of the Google Sky initiative, to offer a glimpse of 100 million individual stars and 200 million galaxies. The system has been designed to show the night sky from any point in the world and to explain what the user would see were they to peer up at the stars on a clear night.
Information on 20,000 celestial bodies, including stars, planets, galaxies, constellations and comets, are available at the click of a mouse. Just as Google Earth shows the planet in close-up by providing access to satellite pictures, Google Sky offers photographs from a range of observatories, including the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope. Thousands of images have been put together to provide a comprehensive view of the night sky, and the system has the ability to zoom in on cosmic features of interest. The pictures were already available to the public through the internet, but the Google site is designed to bring them together in an organised, easy-to-access manner.

Hmmmm… Did they get this from the same source as Celestia?
Good development… But google is getting soooo biiiiiig…
Alright…. I tried it…. Celestia is smoother and cooler, especially if you zoom in for a long time.. and then zoom out again (timetravel).

Freeware… Try this as well.. and run the demo if you installed it.. It is good stuff and you can import 3d models for free as well..
Hmm sounds cool…but will i be able to import my 3d model of the death star aswell?
the flux – big doesn’t always mean bad, does it? I think as well as the google stays solid and open to the internet community as it is, they’re bound to get even better.
And this earth space view – awesome, awesome to the max.
3D model of a death star? Lol thats a pretty damn simple model… Sphere with a small 30% sphere cut out of it.
Google development is exciting, and I R happy for them to take over the world (ie MS)
Can I see Uranus with this app?
spaceb, you are quite an idiot sir
But you did make me chuckle
whats the point of seeing pictures with 2 years old or more, once i saw my house on google earth and it hasnt no swimmingpool now it still isnt there,2 years have past,do they make updates?
Demon:
Yes you can.. There are models of the Death Star for Celestia.
Pixflix:
Yes, it is good.. As long as they stay solid. There is no real competition so they might get sloppy.. Hence my link to Celestia.
SpaceB:
You can’t see my anus on that, because I wasn’t outside showing my ass when NASA was taking pictures, or whatever sources they use for satelite images.
Muhahhaha.. I feel GOD! uhhh.. good. Have you spotted God yet in the system? (Futurama – S04E08 – Godfellas +- 15min. mark) hihi
I think in 5 years time we will all be logging onto the googlenet, the internet will be taken over….
