Google - a new age spy?

I was reporting few stories about the Google’s changes of its privacy rules for storing personal data lately. We’ve also had a case of woman who was sentenced for a murder after analyzing her computer and researching she did many searches for murder-related topics. And I came across a fairly interesting short video about this topic now. Although it is little bit thick, there may be something about it. People who still think that the Internet is 100% anonymous should wake up really quickly…

Very well made video and everything, but way too short. Totally lacks description and displaying of facts to back up the claims and basic scare tactics we hear every damn day.
Perhaps the next episode will contain more than “gewgle ish bad mmkay?”

I for one welcome the rule of our overlords at Google.

After the dust settles from the great Microsoft-Google war I’ll gladly inform on other survivors and have them sent to work in the data mines.

  11. March 25th, 2007 | 18:36

    Goddamn I don’t fucking care.
Even if they god my SEARCH QUERIES and emails from the last past years.
I don’t have anything to hide.

Regarding the wife that googled for murder related search terms Google has nothing to do with it IE Auto Complete feature is to blame for that …. check your facts straight before you start babbling about no privacy and crap and you can use a real operating system and use Tor for all Web Applications to encrypt your data on the web.

Looks like modern communism to me, trying to bring down “capitalistic” organizations for stupid reasons. I mean, so what if they know what we looked for online, there’s a wee bit more to a human being than that.

jesus christ, never read so many stupid comments on a topic so important. it aint some company or some political leader, that will take your freedom, you ignorant fuckups give it to them. fashism is truly a result of negligence and stupidity.
    “Goddamn I don’t fucking care.
Even if they god my SEARCH QUERIES and emails from the last past years.
I don’t have anything to hide.” well, what are you doing here? certainly nothing illegal?? and if you got nothing to hide, why dont you post your name, adress and a picture of your face??
    sad fuck.

Ooold news. This potential of google has been known for years. Video doesn’t tell us anything new. Don’t want your google web search linked to your gmail account, simply dissable cookies for google.com

    21 @ignorantfuckups:

You sad sorry piece of shit. Viewing a webpage is not illegal. Everybody doesnt live in the USA. etc. dont like google - dont use it. have your own opinion - fine. Calling everybody else stupid because they have theirs - retarded. Go play with yourself.

How could anyone take someone seriously if they can’t even say the word “Privacy” right?

  26. Looser
    March 25th, 2007 | 22:01

All right, Google has the potential to use information about your queries, mails etc. But will it be abused?

Ok, all of us have the potential to kill someone - are you afraid, that one day your neighbor will stab you in the back?

If the answer is “yes” you are either paranoid or should consider moving - the same applies with Google. Simple as that.

I suggest people study and analyze how Google actually works and how that lady was charged for murder.

Seriously, use P2P, Torrets, etc to download ALL the computing and tech security books you can get your hands on, and you realise this is all paranoid BS.

Network security, etc is not a mysterious or magic art. Its common sense with knowledge.

It is those who don’t know shit that spread this kind of nonsense. (Maybe because they feel left out of the conversation? Who knows…)

If you believe this nonsense, then you better stop using Windows or Mac OSX, because there is no way to tell if MS or Apple have done secret deals with the US Govt, and have insert an unknown backdoor. (You don’t have access to the FULL source code, so how can you analyse or audit them?)

Google can keep all the tabs they want on me. All they would know is that I love the porn, especially that hot girl on girl action.

    March 25th, 2007 | 23:05

I don’t know, A couple of queries like “Suicide Bombing for Dummies” and “Preventing erectile dysfunction: a guide to keeping those 72 virgins happy” lead to a pretty rough talk with a couple of FBI guys the other day. Coincidence? I don’t think so. By the way, anyone knows where can I get some TNT?

    “girl on girl action”

    so you mean gay porn?

  31. March 26th, 2007 | 00:36

    @ polleke

“Ooold news. This potential of google has been known for years. Video doesn’t tell us anything new. Don’t want your google web search linked to your gmail account, simply dissable cookies for google.com”

If you disable cookies for google.com then gmail doensn’t work anymore.

    Here is the real solution:
    1. Use http://www.scroogle.org for all your searches.
    2. Don’t do dumb shit things like web searches on how to kill people.
    3. If you are a dumb shit and you feel you must do dumb shit searches, see rule number one.

Hmm, well “privvy” has the short i sound, but privacy has the long i. If you ask me, the Brit. pronounciation seems more consistant. But then again, English is just such a half-assed language anyways

    Oooohhh the irony…

Posting this as a Youtube vid is just priceless ;-)

But shure, it is important that we not close our eyes. But well, Google is not the bad guys here (imho), they are doing something GREAT. We have to worry about everyone else that is trying to get a piece of the big information cake.

In a perfect world (without money and politicans or course) this wouldnt be a problem at all.

as i said, fashism is truly a result of negligence and stupidity. point is (now read careful and try - yes try (!) to think): i dont mind different opinions. neglicence and stupidity i do mind very much.
