I'm happy for all the Brits, especially Winslet, I just wish it was a more reputable organisation giving the statues out, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is made up of freeloaders with barely any credibility within the press corps.

They just announced he had won, and the director or producer I dont remember accepted the award for him. Everyone clapped and they were on to the next award.

"Ledger's honour was accepted by Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan, who said the late actor would be "eternally missed but never forgotten".

"All of us who worked with Heath accept with an awful mixture of sadness but incredible pride""

  15. Ah crap
    January 12th, 2009 | 06:50

@Heath Ledger, meh he wasn't the best. But he died, and I guess that gives him special privileges :/

@Slumdog millionaire, what the hell man? Seriously? that movie is better than Benjamin Button? Yeah? Go @&#$ yourselves stupid critics.

@In Bruges. I thought the other actor did better than Colin Farrel, he didn't deserve it… as much.

LOL @ the director giving the finger on national live TV. I bet NBC will pay for it with the FCC.

    January 12th, 2009 | 06:59

    @Ah crap

Benjamin Button is okay, disappointing in the end. Slumdog IS better than it.

That said, THANK YOU (seriously) for saying Brendan Gleeson deserved it better than Farrell. Nonetheless, I am pleased that In Bruges got something. Farrell did give the best performance of his career.

@ Farrell winning a Globe for In Bruges

The irony is that he thought it was one of the worst acting performances he's ever done – as he said in the interview he had with Jonathan Ross: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wduloozjfG8

Plus, the film didn't do that well in the Box Offices, despite it being a pretty decent film.

    January 12th, 2009 | 07:33

To all of you talking about Buttons was better and should have won: Buttons was not even considered for Golden Globe nominations because it was not released yet! You need to wait for the Oscars to do your comparisons!

  23. benjamin vs. slumdog
    January 12th, 2009 | 07:39

I was more enraged at the comedy nominations. They nominated James Franco ahead of Seth Rogan/Robert Downey Jr. I was very shocked that they actually gave an award to rourke. That was well deserved though. He did an amazing acting job in the wrestler. That had to be one of the biggest sleeper films that I have ever seen. I was not really rooting for Heath to get a Golden Globe. I want to see some oscars added to his final tally.

I'm glad Slumdog Millionaire did well, it's a great film that mixes very different styles very successfully.

Benjamin Button was beautifully made but I thought the two main characters were horribly conceited, totally self-absorbed.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona was much better than I thought it would be, I like classic Woody Allen and this was closer to that than he's been a many years.

I loved In Bruges, great little film, either Gleason or Farrell could have won and made me happy.

  33. Guxt
    January 12th, 2009 | 11:55

Slumdog is incredible!!. It's far better than Benjamin Button. And why is a problem that the actors are unknown??? Are we going to the movies to see "stars" or real actors?? And #15, Ledger deserves the golden globe and the oscar too. It has nothing to do with his death. He was the best actor by far in 2008.

    @ Guxt

Thank you for your words! Spoke me out of the heart!
And by the way! All the movies are not out in germany yet.. But I've seen them … you know how!
But I think that were the best GG's ever!
Slumdog Millionaire! Far Better then Benjamin Button. But they are both such an high niveau!
And Heath! Oh Heath, so sad but like Guxt said! "He was the best actor by far in 2008."

And Gleason or Farrell where both great but impressed as a Pair of two great roles!

Hope that the oscars won't be such a boxoffice-like show like last year!

Kind Regards to all the winners from germany(whatching it live at 4am!),
    Jonnery

Late Post..bt who cares i want 2 add smthing here.
Hw does one decide which is a better movie???
Jst try to recall the movie a week after u hv seen it.The more vivid ur memory abt the movie, the better the movie is n thus u shud know tat the Actors and the Director has done his job well.

For me Slumdog & The Wrestler worked…Cate Blanchett was gr8 in Benjamin Button..bt the movie doesn't leave anything etched in ur brain.
And that sums up my post… :)
