Gold Wave Editor helps you transfer tapes, LPs, live performances, Internet radio, TV, DVD, or any other sound source to your hard drive. The software helps protect your valuable recordings–just set the sound source, the recording quality, and volume, then start recording.

The Editor allows you to perform various operations with audio data such as displaying a waveform image of an audio file, filtering, applying various audio effects and more. It includes a click and crackle filter for cleaning vinyl records, a noise filter for cassette-tape recordings, and an equalizer to enhance the sound quality of all recordings.

  • Open, create, and save audio files in any of the supported formats (can also save any portion of a loaded file to disk as a new file)

  • Apply various effects (Amplify, Compressor, Delay, Equalize, Fade In and Fade Out, Flanger, Invert, Normalize, Phaser, Reverb, Reverse, Silence, Shrink, Stretch, Vibrato, etc.)
  • Apply different filters to any selected portion of audio files
  • Perform two-way conversions among CD, WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG (Build-in audio converter)
  • Burn audio CDs from MP3, WMA, WAV, and OGG. The audio CD burner feature is very powerful, yet easy to use (Build-in audio CD burner)
  • Rip your favorite CDs to any format you want (Build-in audio CD ripper)

    Wow, they still make Goldwave!? Awesome.

    I remember when this was a new shareware app, when I was first getting into audio, way back in the 90s… In the absence of a good internet connection, it was as close as I could get to a *real* audio editor. Spent hours fine-tuning loops and one-shots with it.

    According to the website, it's actually called Super-EZ Wave Editor now though… Nice that some people still remember the Goldwave name… It's a bit pointless if you've got a decent DAW these days, but still I'd recommend that n00bs spend a little time working with audio in an app like this – it's the digital equivalent of learning to edit tape with a razor, and a useful skill-set for any audio techy to have.

    This post is kinda misleading, I can see how Lao Tzu would have been fooled. The RS editor even used the box for Gold Wave at the top, not "Super EZ-Wave". I also thought this was the "real" goldwave, and downloaded it only to see that it wasn't.
