Ghosts Of Cite Soleil is another limited movie release by group QuidaM as a dvd screener. This war movie produced by American-Danish crew mixes and interesting substance of documentary, musical and war drama. The story tells about secret army, known as ‘the chimeres’, in the Haitian capital sub-slum, Cite Soleil – according to the UN the most dangerous place on earth. You can probably expect something as shocking as Cidade de Deus (2002), although it’s not R rated. Quality is nice with hardsubs covering the non-English scenes. I’m definitely getting this.
An epic portrait of a family and a culture torn apart by poverty and violence, GHOSTS OF CITÉ SOLEIL is a powerful and unsettling documentary that takes us inside the lives of the notorious gang leaders who dominate the Haitian slum of Cite Soleil, one of the most desperate communities in the Western hemisphere.
Set to a score by Wyclef Jean, who also executive produced the film and serves as an inspiration to the young men of Haiti, the film follows two of the gang leaders, who happen to be brothers, and are also aspiring rappers. The foot soldiers of these gang leaders are known as chimeres (or “ghosts”) and it was those ghosts whom former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide is said to have employed to silence his opponents. Filmed in the months leading up to Aristide’s overthrow in 2004, the film captures the smoldering tensions between the two rival gang leaders, and their love for the same woman, set in a city the United Nations has declared the most dangerous place on Earth.

Ok…anyway watched the movie. No black and white scenes but there is a property of message that doesn’t really detract from the film. Pretty good film.

The problem is that you have never said statements starting ‘white people…’ or ‘asian people…’, there is always a defined statement about blacks. By constantly making statements which highlight this skin colour over others, especially in posts or comments about negative subjects, gives people the strong impression that you want to put this race in a seperate and negative category, never mind the ‘for no reason’ issue.
Now you know from numerous previous experiences that a lot of people have taken these staements as inflammatory or racist, while other subhuman fuckwits are enticed out of the woodwork to spout their idiotic opinions, directly because you have said these things.
This time in a post which was not yours, you go out of your way to make a similar (in fact even more controversial) comment, which subsequently was removed by the site owner and a statement was made by him to intimate that he did not agree with said statement and would be taking action to prevent any offense being caused.
The fact that you now attempt to justify your original comment makes you seem extremely arrogant, as you refuse to acknowledge that such a comment can be construed in an offensive way by the majority of people on this site. I would also say that you seem very ignorant, but delibirately so, as you must have known the previous history of your ‘black’ statements.
I understand that you contribute a large amount of content on this site (although quantity seems to override quality), which is probably the reason why you are still in the position of staff member. I am a member of quite a few forums, who would have already removed you from the same priveleged position long ago, not only for your perceived bigotry, but also your overt personal opinion and ability to cause serious trouble with site visitors.
I believe your detriment is now outweighing your value for Martin, but it’s his choice and not mine.
