I know this is not any scene or p2p release but it will be helpful for many peoples who are having trouble running GTA 4 ..

You might have noticed that GTA IV, in its current state, has a lot of issues.
Please feel free to suggest your own fixes for known issues.

1. Update your drivers to the latest stable version:
- nVidia Users
- ATi Users

2. Update DirectX with the automated web installer.
- Official Microsoft Link
- Secondary Link (skip annoying genuine checks)

3. Update Games for Windows Live.

4. Update Adobe Flash. (Install both of these)
- First uninstall Adobe Flash with this program

5. Update Visual C++.
- 32bit Version

I wasn’t even able to change any graphic settings. With a computer like mine I had to run on the absolute lowest to even be able to play, and when I tried with settings I knew wouldn’t float well it crashed.

also some tips i can provide:

*To apply commands: create command.txt in your game directory (many users reported that adding cmds to command line didnt work so you can use this method)
>example: -norestrictions -framelimit 1 -dx9 /high -novblank

Tools:
-benchmark: Runs the benchmark tool and immediately exits game.
-help: Display list of all command line options

Graphics:
-renderquality: Set the render quality of the game. (0-4)
-shadowdensity: Set the shadow density of the game. (0-16)
-texturequality: Set the texture quality of the game. (0-2)
-viewdistance: Set the view distance of the game (0-99)
-detailquality: Set the detail quality of the game. (0-99)
-novblank: Disable wait for vblank (No Vsync)
-norestrictions: Do not limit graphics settings
-width: Set width of main render window (default is 800)
-height: Set height of main render window (default is 600)
-safemode: Run the graphics in the lowest setting possible
-frameLimit: Limit frame to interval of refresh rate
(ex If refreshrate is 60HZ –frameLimit 1 = Locks down to 60HZ)
-refreshrate: Set the refresh rate of main render window
– Warning – Monitor must support (ex. –refreshrate 60)
-fullscreen: Force fullscreen mode
-windowed: Force windowed mode

*HOW TO SAVE GAMES:

When the game starts or tries to autosave, it’ll tell you that you must be logged into an account.

Accept to log-in/create profile in Windows Live tab (WHITHIN THE GAME) and click on “Create OFFLINE account”

Create some fake account, this will only be seen by you on your computer (unless you’re stupid enough to
try and play online with a cracked game).

Appreciate the effort.If i would not have a disk image program (paragon),with all the bad cracks,beta drivers and sh..t i wouldn’t been able to play it.A clean install and fedorov crack did the trick but i’m not enjoying the game as much.

If you’re running on an NVidia card, you should update to the the GeForce 180.84 beta drivers from NZone. They’re specifically for GTA IV, and aren’t available on the main NVidia site.

My GTA IV is working, just has quite crappy framerates. On 1680×1050 on the lowest settings it maxes out at about 25FPS, unless of course I look at the sky…then I get like 100FPS. And that update you posted earlier didn’t help at all…still the exact same framerates, and possibly worse…really wish they’d get this fixed soon.

That’s pretty close to what I have and I can run it, but not well – it’s playable, but only just barely. I’m lucky if I can get the FPS above 15 – I’m shelving it until I buy a new processor.

lol i’ve run iv on a single core 3.6ghz with a ‘below min’ nvidia card.
Choppy as hell!
However i did improve the framerate by updating all of my drivers (cpu, motherboard ect) and setting my cache to work from my second hard drive.. There is hope.

I can confirm it works, I also applied most of the top bits to improve performance, runs a bit choppy, but you should defrag the directory, all in all, thanks for the crack!!!!!!

i can’t get my joystick to work with this game. i have the newest drivers installed. it’s a logitech dual action. it looks like a ps2 joystick with no rumble. when i go to controller screen, it keeps changing from different joystick configurations on each screen. then i click left and it just goes through different joystick configurations. i can’t control nothing with the joystick. i can’t go through menus or play with it. uh anyone know how to get it to work

Finally got it up and running. Did some tweaking and now I’m getting a stable 40-55 fps average when I’m driving around.. Actually getting 60fps in rooms etc where it’s not much going on, so I’m quite happy as of now. My system specs are
Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3,1ghz
ATI radeon 4850 in Crossfire clocked both @ 1060/660
4 gb DDR2 reaperx ram duel-channeled.

Hopefully the new Catalyst drivers will give me a little boost. As of now I’m happy as it is

Try the steam forums, much help to get there. A lot of people are having problems. Best of luck! =)

@26 u don’t need Net framework 3.5 just for play gta iv, it’s an important application for a lot of other programs (ati drivers if u have an ati card, etc), so soon or later u’ll need to install NF 3.5.
And btw there’s a lot of new games coming that ‘ll need net framework, so if u don’t like it, u won’t play a lot of games .

@33 dl xboxcemu, only xbox controllers are compatible atm. I have the same controller as u n mine works great. You have to tweak the ini settings kuz theyre off like X should be button 1 n so on. RT analog is off too

If your still having problems with textures and performance one thing to try is to increase your vram.

Right click “My Computer” select properties – click advanced tab & under performance click settings then click advanced – then at the bottom under virtual memory click change and choose custom and set the numbers upto whatever you can spare on the drive u have gta4 installed on, 5000mb is usualy enough for a system with 1gb ram & nividia 8500gt and the setup is bellow R* recomended.

Just set everything around midway and the textures on high, and download the 180.84 drivers. runs fine for me now solid 30fps very playable and still looks way better than xbox or ps3. you dont need to max out the settings it still looks awesome.

You can get your non-XBOX controllers working by using this fix:

Just download the files and use them to replace the ones in your windows/system32 folder. You still can’t remap the buttons (hoping this is fixed in the patch) but your controllers should work

Thank you for this post. I managed to download CloneDVD’s release and the last cracked ( in the other words, the stolen one ( you people should make yourself clear it’s not “stolen”, it has been slightly modified, even if you change the priority you can call it yours…so yea ) ).
At the beginning I did have massive shuttering. Updating ATI drivers to 8.11 and turning off this clip capture thingy seemed to work fine, however FPS is so-so.
If it would stay stable on 20, at least 20 I’d be happy, but time to time in many places it kicks down to 17 or even 14. Not to mention that those places do not seem to be richer of content than any other. So, there are just some minor mistakes in this game.
Most likely patch will be out quite soon and well will it do anything? We’ll find out. They did say you need some super-computer to run it with maximum settings, but cmon ( same as with Crysis ), they are simply too lazy to optimize. Wouldn’t it be great and easy to port console game directly to PC without optimizing? Of course it would. Rockstar’s throwing one sentence to those who are having problems running this game : “Go get a better PC” Theoretically it would sound one great business plan which saves quite a lot of money, however I doubt it is.
Even if it would, nothing will change. Fine, we are all upset right now and we think we’ll never try any other game made by Rockstar again, yet we do. In fact, we’ll continue playing this one even if’s it’s barely playable .

Well anyways, I did tons of benchmark tests and you know what, whatever you do FPS gain as such is maximum 4-6FPS. Meaning, there’s nothing we can do.
Let’s take resolution for example -
1024*768 : maximum settings ( view distance – 1 ) average 26FPS
1280*768 : maximum settings average 24FPS
1600*1024 : maximum settings average 25-26FPS

Yah, so basically this means PC is strong enough to run it on maximum settings however there are many blocks that keeps it down.
Same with other settings as well. 4-6FPS maximum. So, theoretically if you are able to play it at about 30FPS then you know your computer is future-proof for a while.
If you play it at 40-60FPS ( outside, shooting, cracking, etc ) then you know you have one sick monster there.
Luckily GTA is and never was meant for consoles only which means they’ll do or at least try to do anything possible to improve the performance.
Take Merc 2, console game. Came on PC and it did stay without optimization patch. It was never meant to be on PC, but well someone thought it would be a nice idea which was however they did not consider what could it cause.

Sad ( I think ) is that they do all along the business plan. They know exactly when the game has to be in stores, etc. They could have kept it locked down for about month or two and improve it, but tbh all I can say is that they were barely able to port it.
So far they’ve actually done great job. If we’d compare it with Fallout 3 then it’s amazing. I mean, this is one huge free world game and so far I’ve bumped into zero game bugs ( there are visual, but minor ), Fallout 3 had much more problems starting from the beginning. I cannot recall anything like this happening in Oblivion, wonder what went wrong there.
Well, hardware plays huge roll as well, but side by side comparison GTA IV has only one major bug – FPS. Tbh, Fallout 3 had the same one. Well, at certain places at least. I did bump into massive shuttering, but it was quite easy to fix.

Well anyways, it has been out for a really short time. Let’s wait a bit and see where we end up. I do encourage people to mess with ini files, in game settings ( including audio ), etc. This is pure barrier rather than it just being massive-resource-whore-game.
So far I’ve noticed that volumetric lighting( it seems to exist at some point, but I could be wrong ), real time shadows is a killer. Ride with a car in the dark turn it around or point at some street full of boxes and little things. FPS drops insanely instantly and well to make it even worse go out of the car and stand in front .
Shadows, lights..yah these are difficult things to optimize, but it’s quite easy to track down the “major” problem when it comes to this which is quite nice.
I’ve messed with DX9/10 for a year or so. I managed to put together one so called graphics engine and wow it was terrible when it came to performance. Personally I say hats down to everyone who manages to create something we can call a open-world game. This requires skills .

The funniest thing – I did all the things mentioned and it didn’t help.. for testing purposes running it in safe mode..
The menu starts fine, if I press ‘start’ the loading goes on fine and the moment it’s supposed to be starting the first cutscene it crashes. Tried a lot of stuff.. updating drivers, installing all kinds of strange stuff, fiddling with graphics and still the same thing happens.. No Fatal Error with a number, no nothing, just a mediocre windows app crash with ‘send/don’t send’ options.
Running AMD X2 4200+ with Radeon HD 2900 XT
Going to try to reinstall in the morning, let’s hope for the best..

Can anyone explain how to remove memory restrictions on the downloaded cracked version?
I’m using the 0×0000 crack and i have tried adding the commands -norestrictions etc….
But these dont seem to work.
Am i using the incorrect crack? If someone could run me through a way to do it i would really appreciate it.

What resolve my problems with RGSC is put GTAIV.exe in mode of compatibility win 2000…. After this, all my problems is done!!

My problem, now, is the texture of the game… my VGA is nVidia 7600GT and can’t put in high wuality….but in low texture I cant see the “world”!! And in medium quality the game is slow…. But I can play!!

zlib20 error. does this mean i did something wrong or is it an error in a legit gta4 too? I played absolutely fine after first install but after i rebooted and played gta4 i started getting the zlib20 error.

To remove the restrictions on the game using the cracked version just simply create a text file in the installation folder where all the exe’s are located, name the text file commandline and put the commands in that file.

I can’t get it to work..have an AMD X2 6000 and a Geforce 8600..I boot it up…my drive light flashes a lot and it doesn’t do anything..what am I doing wrong? I downloaded the original version from here.

if you’ve got a Nvidia card and have random gfx lockups’s (as in the screen freezes but the sound and everything keeps playing)

update your drivers to the latest beta drivers (180.84)

not sure if this works for all card’s but it fixed the lockup’s i had with my gtx260. and it’s suppose to give a 15% performance boost… which i cant really notice, it still runs to crappy for the gfx that it has.
but the no more lockup’s is more then enough imo

After playing for a bit with the latest nVidia drivers, the game runs respectably enough. Definitley endorsing those things.

By respectably enough, I mean it runs like I remember the GTA games running on my PS2. It’s certainly not 60fps, but it’s just slightly under 30. Playable. And I don’t have a cutting edge system, just a 2.13ghz C2D, 4GB of RAM, and an 8800GTS.

Would I like it to run better? Sure. But it is GTA…and it’s always felt the same to me.

it was horrible at first though, the new drivers and the updating has helped so much.

The funny thing is I havent seen ANY of the issues that people on the forums have been twisting about, probbly cos i bought my GTA4, so far no texure issues, no crash to desktop, no rockstar app crashes, frame rate is decent 30-40 with max settings (Nvidia driver 180.84 on Vista 64 Sp1) and running on a Q6600 & 8800GTS 640mb with 4gig ram (nothing overclocked).

If u want to get rid of graphic restrictions in the menu..then simply create a commandline.txt in GTA directory and write -norestriction inside the file.

works fine here, but after 30mins or so strange things happen like cars half in the road, people hovering about. I have the 360 version and its much better on the pc but i dunno if i wanna pay for it twice :S

exactly reason i got a xbox 360…no reason to pull your hair out…no trial and error…just burn and play… and for those that say graphics are better on the PC…i’ll use a wii argument…its not about the graphics its about the gameplay…yeah whatever.

I recently installed GTA IV and it was working fine with the fedor crack. I was able to launch the game from the social club. After playing the game for a few hours, I decided to uninstall some old games to free up disk space. So I uninstalled them, one of the games I uninstalled was bully. After uninstalling all those games, now that I try to launch the game from social center I get the error message “Application Failed to Launch. The application you are attempting to launch no longer exists”. I am still able to launch the game directly without using social club.

Hi guys, I have two problems.
The first is that the game need a game product code that I don't have.
Do you have a working code to share?

The second is that if I try to play without the online profile the game go in crash. It seems to load the game, but then Vista tell me that the program need to be terminated. Do you have the same problem?

My configuration is this:
cpu amd athlon 64 x2 5050e
motherboard asrock a780fullhd with amd 780g gpu
ram corsair 2x2gb ddr2 800mhz
windows vista sp1 32bit

On youtube there are some guys with the same configuration that can play the game at medium settings without problems. I think that the problem is not in my specs.
Any help?

i installed the games successfully .The games starts and then two rockstar logos comes and after that GTAIV comes then after that the don’t send error comes and in detail it is written
