what George Lopez does is a SERVICE… he takes all the good material from various performers and condences it into one night of fun! So you dont have to watch 15 different Dvds to get the jokes you want you can just have G-LO scour the stand up offerings for the best material and then watch him spew it out in a mexican style…

But hey, if you dont believe me, then go down into the barriao and call one of the chicas a mexican with any of her brothers or boyfriend within ear shot and you will find your answer. Oh and BTW, you need to wear sneakers cause even if they gut you, they will still respect you enough that you had the cajonies to actually do what you did and they will toss your sneakers over an electric line to show respect.

If that was the case then he wouldn’t use mexican all over his show when referring to himself or his family.
When George meets his sister for the first time in his show, he calls her Mexican and not Chicana so IDK where you get your facts from (He says, “What do you care? You’re mexican now”). Sure not all latin people are mexicans and some take offsense to it, but not the mexicans dumbass!

Look we don’t care if u call us mexican, in fact it’s what I perferred to be called. I’ve never used the term chicano and have never met anyone but college professors that do. I’ll admit it’s much more of a SoCal thing. Chicano is used a lot more like the word “Oriental”, it’s more for the describing of culture and heritage. The only reason someone would be pissed you called them mexican would be if they weren’t mexican. easiest route to go is just saying Latino. should never called someone Hispanic.
@32, did you laugh when me called his sister a mexican? I am sure that you saw the crowd laughing and that is the reason he did it n00b, to get a laugh. It is just like the case where a back can call another one ‘n***er’ and get away with it, but YOU try it and you will be in for a fight. You need to get out into the world and out of your mommys basement. Or at the very least pay attention to @49 as he is making more sense in one paragraph then you probably have done in your entire life.

Should never say Hispanic, what the F are you talking about. I, as well as most I know, prefer to be called Hispanic over Latino. I don’t like being called Mexican because I don’t live in Mexico and I don’t like being called Mexican-American because I wasn’t born in Mexico than migrated to America. I’m born 3rd generation American in my family meaning that even my grandparents were born in the U.S. So, I say I’m Hispanic and I’ve never seen anyone take offense to that. The chicano thing isn’t said too much now. It’s an “older” word used. Just slang now, no one really likes to hear that. I think CommonSense is either trying to get a rise out of ppl or is an idiot.

I guess it’s a regional thing. to everyone I’ve met the term Hispanic is an insult, meaning you still belong to Spain. It’s an old hatred. Most of these names have lost their meaning these days and really only meant something to the older generations. I’ve never really like any of them, and no I don’t really take offense to any of them as most don’t know their complete origins(me including). Also I too am 3rd generation but most people here identify themselves by their heritage(Mexican mostly). Latino is just a broad term so if you don’t know someones heritage it’s easier to use, it also only refers people from the western world(The America’s, excluding Spain).
