I'd sooner cut out my sphincter with a rusty penknife and eat it raw than install any Norton product on my PC. - The only other thing I could do to make a PC's performance worse than installing a Norton's product on it is to throw it in a deep pond.

With so many decent non-intrusive anti-virus solutions out there (NOD, Avast, Kapersky, AVG etc.), why the hell would anyone want, let alone recommend some resource-hogging piece of sh*t software that doesn't even do the job right, and takes over 90% of all Operating System functions?

@35 2 Rekrul

because it's crap, use Cobian, it works and open source

some time ago I looked at a fine backup solution for my whole multiyear work, tested a series of shareware solutions, such as:
- Backup and Synchronize 2008
- East-Tec Backup 2007
- Genie Backup Manager Professional v8

All downloaded from RLSLOG - thank you guys for doing a great work! without you I wouldn't pick up the best software so fast that suits my needs!!! Love ya!! Especially Lee and Christian! you two do most of software posts!

- and CobianBackup 8 (free and open source)

I use Cobian since then. I am not to say the others really suck, I am just happy with Cobian, it does all I need and without those shiny animations or "different interfaces" that others have (IE6 and Flash Player requirement for Genie due to that I guess). Read it like "you don't need to learn anything new with Cobian, just use it." It also needs small amount of memory to work, and can be installed as a service - the thing I'm happy with, and most of others don't have it.

Cheers RLSLOG!
have a nice day

While looking at the requirements for this, I noticed it says it requires IE6 and Flash Player. Why the hell would a backup program need Flash Player? Or even IE for that matter?

Ajax based backup technology? WTF?

People will come up with any old s*** to sell their cobbled together software.

Use the Acronis tools as Daydreamer said

For all of your backup needs I would recommend Acronis True Image. I've been using it for a long time now and it has got me out of a lot of tight spots. A word of advice though to all of you non believers - you have to learn how to use it properly, read the instructions carefully and store your backups in sensible locations.
