0TV has released the latest episode of HBO’s new 7-part thrilling war drama Generation Kill. If you like this show you may also like FX’s Over There, check it out if you have not seen it before.
Combat Jack
Having raced to capture the airfield, First Recon is now miles ahead of the rest of the American force and has some time to rest and regroup. The abandoned supply truck has been looted and destroyed and the company is now down to one meal a day. After expressing their dismay to their commander, Alpha is tasked with a different mission: to recover the body of a captured Marine who was murdered in Ah Shatra, which takes a twist when a CIA-trained army of Iraqi Freedom Fighters arrives and then just as quickly departs. Meanwhile, Bravo pushes north, clearing hamlets and facing heavy fire. Along the way, Trombley is able to redeem himself, at least a bit in the eyes of his fellow Marines. As Alpha heads into Ah Shatra, Bravo sets up a roadblock outside of Al Hayy. The men debate the proper protocol to stop cars, but it’s a fine line between being cautious and putting oneself at risk. Bravo steps off as Alpha returns to the fold, having raised more questions with their mission in Ah Shatra than they answered.

This is a really good show, the locations are amazing, it really doesnt get political and it doesnt get into blood and gore, its just everyday life of a group of marines and what they go through, very realistic.

I like the show. It’s not an actual documentary bút still it’s alright. In episodes 2 & 3 a little more action takes place and the incompentence and arrogance of the military leadership becomes more obvious (e.g. Recon Marines with light weapons against tanks).

The attention to details is pretty awesome (covering/uncovering the main character scope according to daytime).
Great show, obviously so liberty taken by HBO but overall great stuff.

Soldiers aren’t evil, it’s the people who decide what they will do whose motives should be questioned. And nobody volunteers for plunder, that’s straight lies told by your government that YOU believe. 90% of the military are thinking about what kind of career they can have once out of service. The other ten percent are drug dealers pushing drugs for Bloods and Crypts, convicts with no option, or people with death wishes that actually believe you join the military to kill people. I would also like to point out those same people are normally the first to come down the wire as a reported casualty or suicide.
If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it. If you think your voice needs to be heard, stand in public and preach the same message. Put your face to the public and say the same thing. Anybody can google and read wikipedia so taking a stand at a pirated goods blog to stir up anti-american sentiment (i had to take time from plotting world destruction with HAARP and Hopi indians to type this) will only get YOU frustrated.

I like this series. Sure, I hate US politics as much as anyone and the Iraq war is based on lies but this is a show that shows more of the actual situation than we’ve seen before. And the title “generation kill” is a wordplay on the absurdity of the whole situation.

I am not sure what you mean, but if I am not mistaken, the Americans have sustained a little over 4,000 military caualities, plus about 3,000 civilian casualities at the hands of the radical muslims.
The radical muslims most certainly have higher casualty rates than these.

maybe people should go revisit the post about the documentary “The Fog of War”. War is full of mistakes and history repeats itself. In that movie, if you did not know they were referring to Vietnam, you would swear they were talking about the Iraq war.

as someone who’s read and then reread evan wright’s book and has watched the first few episodes of over there, i can safely say that OT doesn’t even compare to generation kill. that series was just sub-standard mind-dumbing tv fare.
I think, above all, the show works to humanize the Marines. It’s always easy to de-humanize soldiers but with a story like this, with very diverse characters and personalities, it’s easier to see them as people. Obviously, the Marines are conflicted about what they do and personally, I don’t think it’s possible to judge them. I even sympathize with the commanders who, while portrayed as incompetent, were obviously thrown into a situation above their heads. If we need to blame someone, blame politicians and blame ourselves for this mess.
Easily best show on television. It will win a ton of awards.
I am staying out of the political discussion, as that is just plain futile.
