Another old DVDRiP by group qNs that surprises us by bringing some good releases lately. Garden State is a very good rated movie starring Zach Braff and Natalie Portman. I didn’t know Zach Braff till the movie “The Last Kiss”, he seems to have good acting and good directing skills at the same time. Natalie Portman “V For Vendetta” is a very known young actress who is acting many years now, “Leon (1994)” when she just was a young little girl. A very nice movie to watch for those who have missed it. Enjoy!
Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) shuffled through life in a lithium-induced coma until his mother’s death inspired a vacation from the pills to see what might happen. A moderately successful TV actor living in Los Angeles, “Large” hasn’t been home to the “Garden State” in nine years. But even with 3,000 miles between them, he’s been unable to escape his domineering father Gideon (Sir Ian Holm) and the silencing effect he’s had on his son from afar.
Stunned to find himself in his hometown after such a long absence, Large finds old acquaintances around every corner living quite unique lives as gravediggers (Peter Sarsgaard), fast food knights and the panderers of pyramid schemes. Meanwhile, at home, he does his best to avoid a long-simmering but inevitable confrontation with his father.
By a twist of fate, Large meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a girl who is everything he isn’t. A blast of color, hope and quirks, Sam becomes a sidekick who refuses to ride in his sidecar. Her warmth and fearlessness give Large the courage to open his heart to the joy and pain of the infinite abyss that is life.

There has been a good quality ALLiANCE release for quite a while. Maybe you should fetch that release until the mentioned one is available.
I don’t remember it being very funny, but the movie is certainly watchable. Also, Beautiful Girls (1996) is many ways similar to this one and, in my personal opinion, it is much more enjoyable in comparison. If you like this movie, be sure to watch Beautiful Girls as well:

Love this movie. If I didn’t own the DVD I’d pick this up. It probably depends on your sense of humor though, most of my friends claim they “don’t get it”

It’s not bad, however the audio commentary occurs about 2 seconds before events actually occur. Like it ruined the surprise of what fucking colour that bike was. And the commentary is very British… “Jessie leans over and snoggs him”. rofl

Well I just watched the whole thing with commentary. You’re saying the actual movie is not supposed to have commentary at all? I thought it was just something unique, esp. the descriptions of the MIRAMAX and Fox clips.

Oo. haven`t heard a blind commentary for ages. Pity my blind daughter has no use for this. Oh well, and it kinda pisses me off to listen to it, pity it`s not an option but all in all I`m sure there are plenty out there grateful of such a release so I`m all for this kinda thing.

The descriptive audio kills the movie. I can’t watch it like this, unless maybe while doing something else that needed my attention. Might be worth it to rip to an audio file to listen to movie or something.

same.. didn’t realize it had the audio commentary.. There’s another dvd rip with high seeds on mininova without it, picked that up instead.
