I know I’m a few days late on this one but better late then never. Bollywood realease group give us an excellent film in a fine DVDRip Gandhi My Father. This film did rather well in India and judging by the Imdb votes it’s pretty popular. The movie shows Gandhi more as a person and not an icon and its done very well.

Set against the backdrop of Mahatma Gandhi’s political career in South Africa and later his struggle for independence in India, “Gandhi, My Father” tells the intensely personal true story of one of the most important father figures in contemporary history and his failed relationship with his own son.

In the shadows of the Great Man lived his eldest son, Harilal Gandhi. Once a follower of his father’s ideals, a rift formed between the two when father denied son the opportunity to study law in Great Britain. Harilal left his father in South Africa and returned to India determined to make it on his own. Instead he spent years roaming the streets like a beggar, converting to Islam as an act of rebellion, converting back to Hinduism as penance and finally drinking himself to death. Five months after the death of Mahatma Gandhi, Harilal Gandhi, died as a destitute, alone in a hospital in Bombay.

    U Rock again Desi!! Fantastic choice.

    Gandi’s name is uttered with the same respect with the likes of Mama Teresa, M L King etc. This throws a new light on the character of Gandhi… the so called angel of non-violence! He was the most cruel and violent person to his wife and son, mostly the son.

    P.s Guy playing Ghandi looks like Alf Garnett from ‘Till Death Us Do Part’ (BBC sitcom).

    anyone saying Gandhi was cruel, violent and sold off his country is the biggest fool.

    Gandhi is the biggest icon of the last millenium. We see the Nobel prize decision makers saying that the biggest mistake they made is that they didn’t give Gandhiji a Nobel prize.

    Please keep the comments about the tracker & the movie and not slandering the Father of the nation (India).

    so does it have those dancing and singing scene? I heard from an Indian friend of mine that if a Hindi movie doesnt have those scene it will not be well received in India.

    I haven’t watched this one yet.But I’m sure that there are no songs in it.
    I remember reading somewhere that the background score for this movie was very good.So when I tried searching for the audio online,I couldn’t find it.Thats probably coz there are no songs.
    Yes,your friend is right.But I must say that things are changing.Movies without songs are being made and the biggest hit so far this year in India is Chak De India(based on hockey),again without songs.Its an awesome film.
    But my favourite this year is Black Friday,a hard hitting film based on true events.Brilliantly filmed in a documentary stlye n no songs too.This one you shouldn’t miss.

    Who makes these 8GB releases? So you now got enhanced eyes operation so you can actualy see resulutions like 1900x ? Human eyes have no such resulutions. And if you want to watch move from distance of 8 meters on 40 inch tv then you have to much money. Move closer to the screen dumb ass.
