The Digiex website launches very soon, registration is not possible at the moment.

The FTP links work but there is a 50 user limit on the FTP, if the FTP is full you will have most likely got an error if you are downloading using your web browser.

Losing exclusivity of FFXIII isn't the end of the PS3. It still has Versus XIII and many other games comes coming which have now been announced like MAG with 256 online gamers at once or God Of War 3 or InFamous, not to mention the other exclusives due out this year. There wasn't much Sony could do about it either. Enix wanted cross platform and got it to ensure they recoup expenses.

FFXIII won't be dumbed down for the PS3 either as SquEnix have been working on this for the last 2 or so years and it was developed for the PS3 which is still getting it first, with it being ported to the 360 long after it has been out in Japan.

The question remains as to how many discs the 360 version will have. If SquEnix use the full 50GB with all the HD cut scenes and what not, you would be looking at around 8 DVD9's minimum.

How many 360 owners will continue knocking the PS3's installs now M$ understand that installing games on the HDD is actually a good idea and are implementing it in the next update?

What will the big announcement be regarding FFVII when Advent Children Complete (BD & DVD) is launched?

@ 31 Dragon Quest and Grandia fall under Square now

My point is FF is the biggest SELLING RPG franchise out there hands down. Square limiting themselves to one console only hurts their overall sales so I can see them placing the game on multi platforms.

There are lots of other great RPG series out there as you pointed out, but none are on the scale of Final Fantasy in terms of overall sales.

Also to mention, Sony losing Squaresoft-Enix as one of their primary 2nd or 3rd party developers (depending on how you look at the Squaresoft/Sony relationship) is a big blow to Sony. Squaresoft has developed pretty exclusively for Sony (Save for a few handheld games, and 1 Gamecube game).

This do not bode well for Sony in my opinion. It would seem to indicate that Sony isn't going to be able to guaranty the kind income that Squaresoft wants or needs these days. It would seem to indicate a lack of faith by Squaresoft in the penetration numbers now and the in the future for the PS3.

Which brings up the issue of people using the PS3 as Blu-Ray player rather than a console system. This is much like what happened when the PS2 was launched. Many bought the PS2 as a cheap DVD player. I know at least 4-5 people who bought the PS3 as cheap Blu-Ray player and have never bought a game for it. They just play CD Music, DVDs, etc with it. This is compared to 3 friends who use it for gaming. Not to mention how many other people I know who have a Wii or XBox 360 instead.

@26 Name another series that does as well as Final Fantasy? Um, you must not be much of a console role-play-gamer. I can think of a few that do quite well that aren't Squaresoft games. For example

Dragon Quest 1-9 (Huge in Japan, and big in Europe)
Grandia Series (7 Versions)
Phantasy Star Series (28 Versions)
Shining Force Series (23 Versions)
Ultima 1-9 (Yes there were a lot released on the consoles)
Wild Arms 1-5 (Big in Japan)

Any of the Altus RPG games.
Any of the Agetec RPG games.
Any of the GameArts RPG games.

This is all just off the top of my head. There are tons more out there too that are series with more than 1-2 versions released. Japan has a huge market of RPG games, much more so than the US. I'm not sure how big they are in Europe but I suspect they might be bigger in Europe than in the US as well, considering some of the bigger RPG developers/houses are in Europe.

@22 "I wonder how many other gamers have stopped playing them and moved on."

Final Fantasy is the 4th best selling franchise of all time. Final Fantasy X is the second best selling in the series history. Final Fantasy XII almost equalled it's launch sales. They're both in the top 10 best selling PS2 games of all time. Final Fantasy is just as relevant and critically acclaimed now than it has ever been, and it was by far Sony's biggest franchise.

@22 Sorry have to disagree. If you can name another RPG series out there that consistantly produces I'd love to hear it. I'm not saying the series is without any faults but I still think it's the best series out there.
