As an environmentally conscious person, I have been keeping a look on the Future Focus TV series. I think that we all try to be environmentally conscious. As most readers here are of the younger generation, it is up to us to make personal decisions about our environment, because we are about to make an impact with more years to live. A coming ice age (The Gulf Stream and the Next Ice Age) is a forward looking documentary on the thermohaline circulation . It tells us that the greatest danger to climate change could shift the northern hemisphere into a new age covered in ice, by as early as 2010. Pentagon scientists predict that collapse of the thermohaline circulation would also relust in increased scarcity of water resources, unprecedented food shortages for Europe, along with the southward migration of Scandinavian and Nothern European populations.
This program explores the results of a recent American government report that believes that the collapse of thermohaline circulation (the global circulation of deep ocean currents) will take place around the year 2010 and impose a minor ice age on Europe. Could Dublin acquire a climate like Spitzberg, and London like that of Siberia?

OK so I thought by 2010 it was meant to be hotter in the UK. Now they’re telling us we’ll be covered in ice, that would suggest it will be colder.

The world will be hotter but the only reason the British Isles are habitable is because of the Gulf Stream, a good example of this is the fact that palm trees can grow on the west coast of Scotland.

All coastal areas have milder climates, and that is not something exclusively because of the gulf stream. If the gulf would weaken or disappear, winters would indeed be alot colder in northern europe. But the rest of the year would still allow growth and life as always.
Whatever happens, we just have to adapt.
I highly recommend people that firmly believe that the global warming is man made to watch “The Great Global Warming Swindle”.

Maybe it’s time to time to crack out the ice fishing rods and the trendy Eskimo coats.The new football kits would be interesting. Plus I want to know when the north and south magnetic poles are switching as well (I heard it from Stephen Fry on QI which is a good informative, TV panel show in Britain) maybe this has something to do with it. It would be funny because all compasses would point in the wrong direction and the birds would probably die by getting lost. Do I hear the twilight zone music playing in the background.

Oil companies have beens busted heaps of times funding dubious scientists that reverse engineer their data to make a picture of the world with no problems whatsoever.
These are best viewed with rose colored glasses. While everyone agrees that the earth is a very complex system and hard to pin down, you would have to be a complete fucking moron not to see a 2ºC rise in temperature is on the cards – Pacific islands are already going under.
Perhaps Oil execs have hover cars or are secretly doing the same thing to Mar’s atmosphere so its ready. OMG perhaps we already did they same thing to Venus!

I’m just recommending this documentary, sceptics should be heard too you know. That’s how the scientific method works. The feature clearly raises alot of questions and debate, which is highly needed since the media coverage as of late has been extremely one sided. I mean, the Nazis were ‘right’ in the eyes of their people for an entire decade.
The growing fanatism about the matter is even more frightening than the climate change itself!

Global warming, my arse. The only thing constant about climate on this planet is that it changes constantly. That was the case eons before humans came along, it will be the case eons after humans are gone.
Seriously, why does anyone listen to the chicken-little morons and their tinfoil hat wearing followers? These mentally deficient control freaks have been predicting the end of the world since long before anyone alive today was around to listen. In the seventies it was the coming ice age (an oldie but goodie), a global pandemic, massive starvation from overpopulation, blah-blah-blah. In the eighties? The seas would be dead before 2000 — look up Ted Danson’s (of all the damn morons) speech to congress. Hell, if the predictions from the 90s were truth The Statue of Liberty would be underwater by now — nevermind that there’s not enough water on the planet to raise the Atlantic that much.
There’s a reason so few are taking this ‘global warming’ (oh no, we meant global ice age!) crap seriously. We’ve heard it all before, multiple times in multiple ways, and none of it has ever come true. That, and it isn’t that hard to discern the real motivations behind all the scare tactics — control. In the end that’s all any of this is about about, a bunch of control freaks who want everyone to do things their way and they will do and say anything to achieve that.

^yes I agree, but the end of the world is going to happen. Could be today, could be 3 trillion years from now, but it will happen some day. I don’t care how much scientific research these people do, 98% of the stuff they predict will not happen in the time frame they predict it. Yes our earth has a terrible history, and it is likely to repete itself- MORE than likely, but these are things you can’t predict- they just happen. I wish these people would quit trying to creat a mass hysteria. They really need to learn how to predict tomorrows (or shit even this afternoons) weather before they start predicting golbal warming\cooling. I don’t see how people can believe this nonsense when you can’t even get an accurate forecast for the week. Just my 2 cents…

I would trust The Great Global Warming Swindle long before Medialens, which is a propaganda outlet of the usual fearmongering cynical extreme leftwing scumbags like Pilger, Monbiot (the original moonbat), Chomsky, Fisk et al.
