Four Months Three Weeks and Two Days 2007 DVDRip XviD-RHD

A Romanian movie Four Months Three Weeks and Two Days with outstanding rating at IMDB has been released in a new dvdrip by (most likely non-scene) group RHD. The original name of this drama is “4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile” and it can boast with a spectacular numbers: 1 nomination for Grammy, 10 film awards (including The best film of Cannes) and 3 other nominations. The audio of this 2 CD release is Romanian and there are no English subtitles so it’s not too useful but I believe someone will translate it pretty soon.

Otilia and Gabita share the same room in a student dormitory. They are colleagues at the University in this small town in Romania, during the last years of communism. Otilia rents a room in a cheap hotel. In the afternoon, they are going to meet a certain Mr. Bebe. Gabita is pregnant, abortion is illegal and neither of them have passed through something like this before. 4 months, 3 weeks & 2 days belongs to a larger project called: Tales from the Golden Age – a subjective history of communism in Romania told through its urban legends. The project’s aim is to talk about that period with no direct reference to communism but only through different stories focused on personal options in a time of misfortunes that people had to live like normal times.

  1. Capitalism = choice, opportunity, success
    December 18th, 2007 | 00:53

Only Communism has failed. Has been tried for decades on different countries and cultures on half the globe with the same result: bankruptcy. Capital is essential on any type of system, even on communism the state counts it’s money. The only system that has proved to work is the combination capitalism + democracy + literate electors. China is a special exception. It works without literate electors and without real democracy but the ruling class (the “communist” party) has the size of some big countries, his members are literate and vote in real elections (between themselves).

Now about the movie, from IMDB:

“Usually, movies are about entertainment, or about art, or simply they just have something to say. This is exactly the case with “4,3,2″. Going beyond exceptional cinematography, this is a movie about serious problems, in a serious approach. It’s about those extraordinary events in our every day life. The cast and all the effort put into making it add up to the success of presenting a story about real life with fictional means. It’s not a movie about women, nor about men, it doesn’t concern only women, or only men, it’s about struggle and sacrifice, without being pathetic or exaggerated. You, or me, or the one next to you, could face the same problems and we each deal with them in our own way. The winning point of the film is that it’s not judgemental about these choices, but only alarming, or purely descriptive.

Great acting, great directing, great filming, great writing and a great story make this film well worthy of those Palmes D’Or. It’s a great achievement for cinematography in general, not only the Romanian one in particular. But for a more detailed perspective, just go see the movie!”

  4. capitalism= failure, death to millions, destruction of world
    December 18th, 2007 | 02:16

Capitalism will be flushed down the toilet of history. It is a failed ideology. What you call capitalism is not even capitalism. Read books if you can to see what capitalism really is. Tarrifs, State intervention to bail out bankrupt businesses etc, is not capitalism.

I have been to Romania – I stayed in Bucharest in the Astoria hotel – I am American – It has a beautiful population – In all my travels around the world, Romania is by far my favorite

My post was only posted to educate people who download this movie and watch it to understand the culture and situation of the country at the time this movie is taking place… Since the movie does not address that – Sorry for trying to at least educate those people here who are saying bad things about Romania.

  18. 16 years under communism = enough for me
    December 18th, 2007 | 13:55

I was 16 years old (10-th grade) when communism fall down here in Romania after the very first revolution that was transmitted LIVE on TV all around the world. I remember Ceausescu (the communist ruler) being summarily judged and executed in a similar way many Romanians were judged and executed during it’s rule. Immediately after that the capital punishment was abolished and liberty in all it’s forms proclaimed. One of the liberty’s gained on December ‘89 was womens liberty to choose when and if they want to have a baby. I choose what to do with my own body, women should choose what to do with theirs too. About life in today Romania I would say that is so so much better than under communism, I don’t regret a thing and people I know don’t either. It was hard during the first 10 years of transition due to communist left overs and primitive accumulation of capital but for the past 7-8 years we are experiencing strong economic growth regardless who is in power (6-7%/year every single year), unemployment is at it’s lowest (you must have no skill at all or no will to work to be unemployed), incomes are higher, inflation is lower, properties gain value, credits are more accessible, the young men and women are better educated and eager to succeed, the conditions are that the momentum is gonna continue for the years to come. As a result the middle class grows larger and larger each year, the prove is the number of quality cars that literally flood the streets or the higher number of people that make their holidays outside each year. Of course there are some people complaining that life is hard but I bet they will complain also in 10 years time when life will be even better than is today, so… If you study and work the way you should (harder every single day) you can really make your dreams alive in today Romania. I feel lucky that I was born in this place at this time because I was able to witness such a radical transformation in such a short period of time. Other countries look boring to me in comparison but I respect everyone’s feeling that his country is the best. It’s a good thing to care about your country as long as you don’t exaggerate whit it.

  26. What's Halo 3?
    December 18th, 2007 | 15:55

This thread is a classic insofar as it typifies what is so commonly expressed all over the web with such tremendous antagonism. We harbor such endless animosities toward one another through upbringing, circumstance and indoctrination. Yet no country, no religion, no ethnicity or race, no culture, no political ideology and no set of doctrines or beliefs may ever lay claim to a definitive and final path for humanity. None of us are perfect in our attempts to struggle forward by what we perceive as being right over wrong.

Try, now and then, to embrace a larger picture, one where we are all connected, for we are precisely that: connected to each other biologically, to the earth, chemically, and to the universe, atomically. If we truly wish to live in a world of peace and harmony then we should simply rejoice in the diversity of man instead of standing in fear of it as others have sought fit to inculcate upon us. Seek a greater truth and do so by listening to your heart rather than a dented ego.

Im british…ive visited romania on many occasions. Theres this major misconception by people that romanians are “gypsies”. Gypsies ARE NOT romanian. they speak their own dialect. Its gypsies that causes a lot of problems for romanians, hungarians and many other countries. They live their own life by their own rules. And settle where they like.
DONT beleive in what you read in the media….EDUCATE yourself. Romania is a beautiful country with incredibly devoted people. hard working people & people who would welcome you to their home and treat you with upmost respect. It was a gypsy that murdered someone in italy. Somehow this individual obtained a romanian ID card. Its a stigma on many eastern european countries that needs to be sorted out.
BTW they dont celebrate the overthrow of government on christmas day and show his execution on tv. They celebrate christmas and look to the future. Which is something you neanderthals need to think about.

This just shows that if you have absolutely nothing, people always find some pathetic thing to be proud off.

that really is something to be proud of …

my pride of being romanian, is not about nationalism, and not about romania, or romanians being better than other coutries … is about the general image that world have about us, due to diffrent negative facts. some of our compatriots abroad are ashamed or even fear to admit they are romanians. somehow like being arabian origin … if you are from an arabian country everybody sees you as a possible terrorist. if you are romanian everybody sees you as a gipsy, possible killer, or thief. this is not right. i also know the good parts of my country and my compatriots, and that mekes me proud of being romanian.

For anyone still interested, I uploaded a version of the subtitles synced to the joined, 1CD version of the RHD rip. In my case, I prefer watching films on a single DVD, regardless of quality loss. Now, this is my first time posting subs so please bear with me…so far I see the only rating on subscene is 1/10, but even if it’s far from perfect, I did it mainly so that I could enjoy my copy more. Others benefiting from it is merely a bonus.

@21: hahahahahahahaha, you totally pwnd No9 hahahaha. He probably doesn’t even understand it but that was, indeed, a good one…
And @ all those haters… Jeez… Romania is a country just like the U.S. (in my opinion much better) or whereever you’re from. At least Romania didn’t start a war for no reason or elected a complete idiot as their president. And, I’m pretty sure that about 75% of the people in Europe know pretty well where Romania is. Many Americans don’t even know that Europe is a continent, not a country and they’re not sure whether France is a country or not.
So don’t hate on Romanians. They are just as smart as you, probably even smarter… And being proud of one’s nationality isn’t a bad thing… Even if you’re Romanian… I mean, look at Americans… that is by far the most patriotic (if you know even know what that word means) country I have ever seen in my life. Singing the national anthem all over the place.. The Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school while standing towards the flag…
Well, actually I just wanted to say how funny the comment of 21 was but I kinda ended up saying a little more… I’m not hating on Americans… I just know how they think about certain things and I know that they don’t know a whole lot about the world around them except their own country.
    Peace
