Forgetting Sarah Marshall TC XVID-TRADINGSTANDARDS

From the same group that brough us a cam of this movie, we now get a nice TC which is quite a surprise as there was no line audio for the R5, so this is just as good (nfo mentioned the audio to be a little on the poor side, but beats the hell out of cam audio). The retail date for this is estimated to be sometime in August, so we have a long way to go before a DVDRip.

Quality: Expect a nuke coming soon as this was encoded using the DivX codec, something not allowed in the scene anymore. The video is a bit dark on this one, and the audio sounds tinny, but hopefully someone will fix the audio and maybe sync it up to the R5 as I’d rather see the video made by pro equipment ;) This is stolen from the Jambo release and they didn’t even bother reencoding this properly…

Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). He’s the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life. To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand), are sharing his hotel.     Don’t download this. It’s exactly the same as the jambo release just with worse video. The sample is the exact same as jambo’s. And it’s not a TC either. A TC is slightly darker with good proper audio and not cam audio. I get screeners from some sources i know and i’ve been told you always get english audio with TC’s. You also cannot class a R5 re-encode as a TC for crying out loud. Where do these people come from. Possibly from under a rock. Anyway there you have it. If you check both samples you will hear people laughing in the backround. The audio is slightly higher on the tradingstandards sample but that’s it.

    For FSM:

    The theater release isn’t the same as the R5 video source . . . there are about 2.5 minutes of extra footage in the R5. So no line-audio or cam-audio will sync correctly.

    Um it’s good that this has finally been released just too bad that the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully an R5 will be synched soon so that we can enjoy this on the best quality ;) :D

    OFFTOPIC: Em will the MTV Movie Awards be posted here. Its just that it doesnt air in my country for another week or so yet and I really really really wanna see that exclusive “Twilight” scene :)

    Now Heres Mine. And indeed the picture quality is 100% better (not a Jab

    at Jambo). Mine has the cuts where the audio is missing also… But Mine

    Contains the Dracula Puppet scene as Jambo’s Does Not.

    PS – This is my own encode of The r5 DVD9 with my filtering to make it look

    better.

    Jambo is the worst encoder I have seen, he messes about with the contrast and brightness and always ruins the picture.
    It’s a pity as he manages to get good sources.
    He needs to learn how to use proper video tools like avisynth and vdub and get nrid of the newb one-clicker apps.

    He could have synched the audio by changing the length by 29.97/25, instead he tried to cut the audio into bits, lol what a noob!

    EXACTLY RIGHT. R5 which means dvd relase in regiion 5, Russian Audio. Thats it, end of story. So any relase has to be synched up with the best english audio source available, sometimes ok like “Street Kings” they used audio from a studio screener. Then there was Doomsday great encodeing of the r5 video but the only audio which was complete just sounded like it was recorded in a garbage can. This r5 was not encoded perfectly but it would have seemed “adequate” if the audio source available was more complete.

    All of these are R5 releases just with bad cam audio instead of the usual direct line.

    Im not 100% sure since i haven’t seen it in theatres i heard there are other problems like missing audio and repeating scenes.

    Video way to dark, Audio aint bad considering it’s a Cam Source, if you compare it to most Cam releases I dont think this is anywhere near as “Tinny” as your everyday Cam release. Just the audience noise in the background that really ruins it, plus the audio is well out of sync.

    Marceli is totally right about h.264. Was it really ever a question?
    Anyone that thinks Xvid is better needs some serious edumacation on video codecs.
    Byte for byte h.264 beats Xvid hands down when it comes to video quality. Movies encoded with x264 are bigger only because they have higher resolution and are encoded at a higher bit rate (like he said). If you tried encoding the same resolution video with Xvid and trying to make it look as good, the file size would be a lot bigger.
    Even if you keep it at 700MB though, h.264 still looks better.

    @86 I have done some comparisons between H.264 and xvid. In most cases there is very little difference between the two. H.264 actually does edge out xvid at the higher bitrates but not enough that the average person would notice…What you will notice is the amount of CPU usage. Xvid uses much fewer resources in decoding than H.264. I am also not a great fan of Mkv. I can (and have) done HD (h.264/mkv) reencodes to xvid/avi 2 CD size that are 1. about 95% of the quality 2.less than 1/3 the size. 3. about 1/2 the resource hog. This means that I can watch a movie and do ‘other things’ with my machine.

    Well, I like Xvid releases because I can watch them on my Divx/Xvid DVD player. I wouldn’t mind the scene moving to h.264, but hopefully after an h.264 capable DVD player hits the market.
