Well there have been a crap load of problems with the R5 of this movie, as no line audio was available and the theatrical version was shorter than the unrated R5 :( The audio was actually taken off of a preview DVD so its not line, but they labeled it that way anyway :D

Quality: The audio is great, you can hear everything clearly and its comparable to studio AC3 :) The video is great too, it does tend to be a little blurry at times imo, but its still great as the retail won’t be out until September.

Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). He’s the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life. To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous (Russell Brand), are sharing his hotel. But as he torments himself with the reality of Sarah’s new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel (Mila Kunis), a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world. He also finds relief in several hundred embarrassing, fruity cocktails.

    If you invert one of the stereo channels the audio sounds a lot more normal… I don’t know if anybody else noticed that.

    This movie has been nothing but stress and a headache.
    Also, when I saw the crappy version, maybe it was the quality and the bad sound, but I just don’t get why it has such a high rating from so many people.
    It seemed mediocre to me. Nothing special.
    But I am willing to try again, but wait….
    Again with the issues with sound, etc.
    This movie has a Alsatian Nad Cruncher Bad Mojo curse on it!
    It will shrink your wee-wee the size of a peanut!

    Adobe Audition, but almost all audio software can do it. And adding more bass makes it even more better :)

    no i can’t…

    If you want to do this yourself using Audition, just invert one of the stereo channels. After that, copy the audio file. Past in new file. Effects–>Amplitude & Compression –> Multiband Compressor

    And than set the blue one on Solo, and increase the volume. You can do this a few times until you think the bass is loud enough. Make sure the blue “soundwaves” stop around 100 Hz by sliding the wite lines.
    Then add the normal (inverted) audio in Multitrack together with the one that only has bass. Then merge into a new file and add the audio with VirtualDub. Done.

    for me there is no bass content on the sample, if you select mono in vlc player there is significant improvements but the audio has a lot of audio artifacts like its 32kps mp3 files, very “splashy”
    i wont be downloading, just thought i d share

    oh ok. But make sure you use the Full processing mode because when I just save the WAV without setting in Full processing mode I lose audio on the end of the file (I believe this is because it is VBR, it also gives you that warning when opening the file).

    Maybe you could download Audition ;)

    @104, this is NOT the video or audio from the theatrical rated R version because there are scenes and lines that I SPECIFICALLY remember that have been cut. For example, “Do you want to choose the outfit you’re going to breakup with me in?” It is a sloppy hack job. It shows you a quick frame from and upcoming scene and then jumps it. This is not the R rated version and certainly not the unrated version which one would expect to be longer and have more scenes then the theatrical rated R version. So nuke this for being a sloppy hack job from Kamera.

    If you use Media Player Classic, map both speakers to one channel (basically make it mono, as was said before) and it sounds much better.
    Did that with the sample and the audio is decent. I don’t know what version Marceli was listening to when he said it was “comparable to studio AC3″.

    The audio is from the WP which is the UNRATED version which is
    different fronm the EU theatrical version. Go google for more info.
    This though does not make it a LINE source like w*nkera tagged,
    LINE is used for direct (FM \ IR) source only.

    so the workprint is 1:50 and both r5s are 1:45ish since the second r5 is supposed to be audio from the workprint what is missing? why are they always missing scenes? jd1 should be unrated video with unrated audio from the workprint… anyone care to explain?

    Cause the kamera release is the unrated version using audio from the normal version and it gets cuts/phases out so the proper release has the audio from the unrated release.

    No, it’s not the complete movie. Sort of.

    The audio is out of sync because Kamera rushed it. The audio is taken from the DVD screener which is the unrated version. This R5 is the standard version which is 5-6 minutes shorter than the unrated one.

    The Kamera release may not be nuked yet, but a proper has just hit which fixes the out of sync sound. Extra entertainment is provided by the NFO, which takes Kamera to the woodshed and ridicules them thoroughly.

    Those wacky scene guys. :P
