Fonejacker S01E01 WS PDTV XviD-PVR

fonejacker is this very bizare new comedy show (I’m not saying it’s funny). It basically is made by some grade sixes for their school video project. fonejacker records crank call conversations and then his producers put in random and absurd pictures each time a certain letter or word is said. All I have to say is that either this show is going to become the next meme on ytmnd.com “it says on the computa” or become canceled by the end of its run. Be warned because all the subjects have British accents, in case that bothers you (it does me) . Kayvan Novak, the man behind the crank calls is definately NOT the next Sacha Baron Cohen, and right now he’s just a washed up comedian/actor trying too hard to earn some quick cash. Good grief and why do broadcasters have to get so desperate as to sign on garbage like this ? You kicked my dog is about a million times more funny than this show.

Mr X – that was the worst write up ever. Next time please explain in clear English something about what you are posting before making your personal feelings known throughout the entire write up. If you hate it that much – why did u even both posting it up?

“It basically is made by some grade sixes for their school video project”

er .. no it’s not.. its done by a proper production company and made for TV.

    “fonejacker records crank call conversations”

er.. no he doesn’t… he makes the prank calls.

“Be warned because all the subjects have British accents”

Well it’s a UK show produced by Brits, filmed by Brits and the cast are Brits – so what do you expect the accents to be? Swedish?

  6. July 10th, 2007 | 07:08

    more like best post ever!

What a first class tit you are Mr.x – der34 had it spot on about the ‘throwing the toys out of your pram’ post above. At least try and pretend like your balls have dropped.

BTW, you state that the accents are all British, but the guy does several foreign accents as part of the sketches (Ugandan Bank Teller, Arab TV/PC customer, American Telesales bloke, etc), so that fucks that little criticism right out of the water.

This format of show has been shown to be funny in the past (the US show Crank Yankers used the same, but with Muppets) and just because it is a bit rough in the first episode does not mean it will not improve. Original shows such as ‘Ali G’ and ‘Trigger Happy TV’ both took a while to catch on.

What the fuck do you want instead Mr.x, some fucking US sitcom clone like the other zillion produced every year?
Grow the fuck up, silly boy and grow a pair.

I agree with Der34. You can let us know if you like it in 1 sentence, the rest of the write-up should be impartial, especially when you fail to justify any of your opinions.

    July 10th, 2007 | 07:47

    Agreed.

If you dont like it thats your opinion. Dont slate it for everyone else. Its quite a popular show and if your comparing in to Sacha Baron Cohen then I think you better watch it again :\

I agree with Der34, hibby, Yurg and queef. This is yet another example of a RLSlog poster that tries to force his own opinions onto the people who visit this page. Of course it’s OK to not like this show, but to make your whole post about dissing the show is really sad and unprofessional. Or did Mr. X had a bad night?

This show actually gets good reviews (comments) at EZTV, and that IS saying something! I for one watched (well listen) it and loved it! The crank calls are really good sometimes, and for a first episode this is very funny. Too bad the video is kind of lame, but the essence of the show is FUN!

  11. July 10th, 2007 | 08:21

yes but if you have a sophisticated TV palate like me you get to have a general idea of what is a stupid waste of time and what is worth downloading. this show, is not. something like south park blows this thing out of the water. i mean how lame, honestly do you have to get to put a non-moving picture of someone and then just move the mouth ? cheap comedic acts like that are meant to make fun of politicians on comedy-based political shows like royal Canadian air force or this hour has 22 minutes, and they don’t try and drag it out the whole episode and torture you with random irrelevent flashing images either. even those show have a little bit of brains going on in the background, but this show is unfortunately watered-down druel with a weak premise on ripping off crank-yankers (which is actually a funny show) .
or maybe I’ll never understand british comedy at its most retarded and childish.

  12. Yurg
    July 10th, 2007 | 09:07

You’ve totally missed the point – the issue was never whether the show was any good, more the fact that people don’t visit this site to find out what you think about it. We want information on new scene releases not the vitriolic ranting of an insecure sub-editor. Keep your opinions short and sweet next time.

    July 10th, 2007 | 09:35

I think this show is quite good, good think to watch when bored…

  15. July 10th, 2007 | 11:15

fonjacker is actually nigh on hilarious in places and somewhere between infantile & genius
one of the highlights are the awesome British accents

  16. Lmpftre
    July 10th, 2007 | 12:30

Limey sheep shagging accents. With their gay sounding public schoolboy lifestyles. England is GAY.

  17. si
    July 10th, 2007 | 12:45

Lmpftre; The Welsh are those stereotyped with the sheep shagging not the English, do you know where Wales is?

LOL@Mr X and his TV palette, while I don’t rate Fone Jacker very highly as it has already turned into a catchphrase show amongst peers it doesn’t compete with You Kick My Dog or Butt Plugs or even some Crank Yankers sketches.

However, the editing makes the show more watchable than Crank Yankers and has been marketed very well.

RLSLOG need to worry about posting scene releases not teen opinions.

  18. July 10th, 2007 | 12:46

^^^ lol you can tell this guy balls havnt dropped yet haha. i still dont get why immature people use GAY as a derogatory term but i guess they will stop once they grow up. Also where do you get the sheep shagging thing from? there really arnt that many sheep in england i think you might be thinking of wales or maybe new zealend… lol.

BTW on a different topic everytime an american show is posted why dont you put beware of the american accents…

  19. July 10th, 2007 | 13:33

Fonejacker has been on for a couple of years now…
There were shorts on E4 all over the place last year.

Now that a series has started it will probably go into a downward spiral, as most tv shows which are good before they are known by the entire world, do.

    But, anywhoo
It was awesome back then and is (still) awesome now.

Mr.X you need to grow up and realise that people have different opinions on what they like and don’t like. Stop being a little prick cos you think you’re better than everyone else.

I watched Fonejacker last Thursday on channel 4 and I have to admit I have not laughed so much for ages. Brilliant show, by the way mr x I have no interest in your reviews, so please stop them, if you are so desperate to tell people your point of view join IMDb and annoy them with your puerile views.

The best way for people to see if they like the show before downloading it is to watch the Fonejacker clips on YouTube.

Mr.x since when do we care about your “sophisticated TV palate” you write about new scene TV releases not make a 25 line rant about how you hate a particular tv show because it was made in england with english accents GTFO

I am english and am proud of our accent and lets face it we created a language that is spoken more than any other in the world and it is spoken in nearly every country so how can you say its annoying? and how many people do you know that speaks english. Lots and lots and lots i bet dont knock a language when we gave it to you.

Lmpftre, never heard of a Country called “Scotlanes” before!, is it near Uzbekistan?

Well I Guess Mr. X was at School when this was posted http://www.rlslog.net/think-before-you-post-a-comment/

But i’d have thought being STAFF he’d know better than to post Stupid comments.

  29. July 11th, 2007 | 11:34

I can’t understand people comparing this to Crank Yankers, lets get this straight, all the calls are done by ONE MAN for a start, he has to think on his feet, and the reactions from people are very funny indeed – I liked Crank Yankers (esp Special Ed) but the sort of lazy comparisons really get on my nerves, people say shit like “muh, that family guy, its just like the Simpsons but with pink people” or “that Dennis Leary, hes just like like Bill Hicks! except alive… and not funny.” Lets face it, prank calls have been done before, (we’ve all done them ourselves) doesn’t make them any less funny when someone else does them. I for one loved the show, and his accents are really funny, and his ideas are origional, did crank yankers have an arab on that pronounced acronyms incorrectly? no… I read your “review” and i didn’t think it was very fair, okay English annoys you, if it does, move to Mexico…

Crank Yankers was horrible in my opinion. This show outclasses it in every aspect. The calls are not derogatory, the responses are actually amusing, and there’s no retarded puppetry going on. Methinks the yanks just don’t get it. Whatever! BBC comedy forever!

Mr X has yet another poor writeup. Yes the show is pretty crappy too but aren’t you here to present facts about scene releases, not opinionated writeups?

Not liking English accents is a pretty poor excuse for not liking a show too.

I think your English teacher would give this writeup a D+

  34. July 13th, 2007 | 05:45

actually I CAN write my opinion about scene releases. There are plenty of webpages that have mindless bots that just use scrips to post scene release content, and since we have real editors here that get to give their professional review that’s what we do. If you disagree, you dont have to read. and the trolls here dont seem to understand: it’s you people that need to respect my opinion, not me because I wrote my opinion before all the trolls jumped in and started to flame me about my review.

I am an English guy and I think that Mr. X has no right to say ‘beware of the British accents.’ In fact that is very xenophobic towards my country (of which you are speaking the language.) If he is in fact a ’staff member’ of this website then he should give an honest but proffesional opinion of the show. How dare he ridicule a show because of the people who make it! I watched the show last night and some sketches were funny and some were not. Can you honestly say that every clone American show is hilarious all the way through? I don’t think so!
