Why bother with this…… if you run firefox, just add the flash video resources downloader or flashgot add ons. It's a lot easier when they're right in the browser.

Wrong. MOST streamed video is actually buffered to your system, making it easy to save. You can tell this by the way the progress bar fills up, even while the video is paused. That's the video file being downloaded to your system.

Some sites don't buffer the file and play it as it streams. For these sites, there's nothing on your system to find. In some cases, the file is streamed from an HTTP URL and all you have to do is find it to be able to download the file. However, some sites, like Hulu, use an RTMP URL, which most programs can't handle. The servers that these files are hosted on, will only let authorized programs, like Adobe's Flash, connect to them. Programs like FLV Recorder pretend to be Flash Player to trick the site into sending the file to them so that they can save it.
