Florida teenage commited suicide online

A Florida teenager who used a webcam to live-stream his suicide Wednesday was reportedly encouraged by other people on the Web site. Abraham Biggs, 19, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., had been blogging on an online body-building message board and had linked to his page on Justin.tv, a live video streaming Web site, where the camera rolled as he overdosed on prescription pills, according to Crane. Biggs, who had reportedly been discussing his suicide on the forums, also posted a suicide note. The video and blog postings have since been removed from the sites.

Crane said comments on the thread included an exchange about whether the image of Biggs’ motionless body was a still photograph or a video, and eventually resulted in one of the site’s visitors calling the police, who tracked down the teen through his computer IP address. Biggs was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 — about 12 hours after he had begun blogging about his suicide. The official cause of death was suicide combined with drug toxicity. Crane said that benzodiazepines and opiates were found near the body, but a blood toxicology to quantify just how much Biggs consumed is still under way. Crane said that at least one of the prescription drugs was in Biggs’ name. Biggs had struggled with depression, according to his father, and had been prescribed medication for bipolar disorder.

    this is really sad, this guy was a teen weightlifter? Could be (like i was) a person with low self esteem who wants to bulk up. People like this can be somewhat solitary, the fact that he communicated so much on the internet to the point of video chatting kinda goes along with that.

    He was just depressed and tired, probably wanted to maintain a low body fat and high muscle ratio… which really does depress you when youre eating less and at the same time trying to push your body.

    me being mentally ill almost did the exact same thing at 19 yo but without the blogging & webcam attention bit, the worst of my time was 18-20 now at 31 i look back and am so damn glad i did not finnish myself, if you bare with the hard times it should make you stronger, cruel bastards thou whoever talked him into doing it, damn shame

    if it was a body building blog they should have talked him into exercising really hard so all he wanted to do was have a meal and a sleep, decent food and a good sleep can fix stupid thoughts

    For everyone saying people are sick for wanting to watch it. The people who want to watch it are just as sick as the person you feel sorry/sad for commiting suicide. So find somewhere else to hassle people , I think your sick for feeling sorry for someone youve never met. You typed your sorrys and sadness without any actual emotion. (excluding anyone whos had a friend die by suicide), then they might at least have had the feelings they typed.

    We all die at some point. Some people are too weak to live life. He is one of those people. Yeah its sad but it was his choice. Many people take their own lives every day how is this any different. Oh yeah the moron put it on the web where it will live forever in one form or another.     You know what else is sad? When the Iraqi’s were decapitating western prisioners and uploaded the video to the net… but I still went to Ogrish (now called LiveLeak) just to watch them.

    It’s part of human nature… many many people, despite how wrong it is, will still have a desire to watch these videos. Stop hating on them for it.

    @94/Bommer99, That was an EMT. They usually carry scissors to cut away clothing to reach to apply defibrillator paddles or to get to a wound and so on..

    This was covered on a major news channel[wouldn’t they have done some crosschecking??) and a couple of guys on the BB forum actually called the police.
