Flags Of Our Fathers DVDSCR XviD – NEPTUNE

Thank God for the Academy Awards! All the new movies are going straight to DVD Screeners the next couple of weeks. Flags of our Fathers, finally a new WWII movie. I’m a huge fan of everything WWII, especially movies. This is just one of the two movies by Clint Eastwood about Iwo Jima. This movie is made up out of a series of flashbacks from the Americans who raised the symbolic flag on Iwo Jima. Anyone who has ever taken the time to check out some WWII photographs will have seen it. I’ve even seen a statue of it in Normandy, by accident I might add, when I was there. The second movie is called Letters From Iwo Jime and that movie will be told from the Japanese perspective, but more about that later when the first release from that movie will hit RLSLOG.

In February, 1945, one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific theater of World War II occurs on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of Marines attack the stronghold maintained by thousands of Japanese, and the slaughter on both sides is horrific. Early in the battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, Mount Suribachi, and a photograph of the raising becomes an American cause celebre. As a powerful inspiration to war-sick Americans, the photo becomes a symbol of the Allied cause. The three surviving flag raisers, Rene Gagnon, John Bradley, and Ira Hayes, are whisked back to civilization to help raise funds for the war effort. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph.

@Slade: Check your settings when you convert AVI to DVD. Make sure you have it set to PAL or NTSC depending on where you live.

    Hi,

maybe you should correct the nfo about the files, size and resolution. It seems to me it’s the nfo from “Danika” (compare the given filename), the Neptune Release is 1.38 GB, not ~700 MB.

    Nevertheless, good work over here!

Thanks for you help guys. I am using convertx2dvd i have not checked the ratio. But for example i burned children of men and i put in in a cheap dvd player and it played perfectly. I tried again on 4 other players and the players would not read the disk. Its very frustrating. I also have winavi 7.7 i think but that failed to even burn the movie at all.

Poor film about a battle that was a little sideshow (japs outnumbered 120:1, not even counting sea power) compared to the gigantic far more important life or death battles in Europe at the same time.

Are there audio issues with this download? I’ve downloaded and played it in VLC Media player and I’m told that would correct the audio problems for viewing on my PC but I have no clue how to fix the audio so I can burn to a cd. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Ive got audio issues in ac3 with lots of Neptunes screeners.

Sometimes the voice track is really muffled, other times its fine.
