First Knight 1995 SE 720p BluRay DTS x264-HDxT

Not really much being released tonight, so heres a nice BluRay rip from HDxT. I havent seen this movie in about 6 or so years, i use to quite like it all those years ago so im going to download it and have another look see if its still any good, even though it very very loosely follows the King Arthur story.

Lancelot lives by the sword. In fact, they’re next door neighbours, so teaming up to fight for money comes pretty naturally. Lady Guinevere, on her way to marry King Arthur is ambushed by the evil Sir Malagant. Fortunately Lancelot is lurking nearby and he rescues his future queen. They fall in love, but Guinevere still fancies the idea of wearing a crown, so she honours her promise to Arthur. Can Lady Guinevere remain faithful, or will this Pretty Woman become a lady of the knight?

I don’t understand why they release these 720p releases, when a 480p release with the same filesize would look a lot sharper.

    @ 12

That is the dumbe$t thing Ive heard all day. 480p looks horrible on an HDTV, even these 720p rips look pretty bad after watching retail blu ray rips. Your eyesight must be pretty bad if you think 480p looks sharper than 720p.

you said “when a 480p release with the same filesize would look a lot sharper.”

If you only have an SD set there is no pint complaining about blu-ray sizes, just download the dvdr and stfu.

To Chris, you win today’s prize for the biggest moron. You could create a 480P file that completely filled the biggest hard-drive available today, and it still would not look better than a DVD5/DVD9 720P rip (on a hidef display). Nothing can recover lost pixels, certainly not more storage at a given resolution.

A 720P rip quadruples the pixels found in an ordinary definition xvid rip. Given that a DVD is a litle more than 6 times bigger than a CD, the extra space used allows much better sound tracks, and a better quality image.

BTW, a ‘downsampled’ bluray picture (playing bluray on an ordinary definition screen) will give a much better picture than an ‘upsampled’ DVD on a hires screen. So, whether you have a hidef screen or not, choose bluray as your source whenever possible. (BTW, if a DVD did not compress its content, the bluray source on ordinary definition TV would not look better, but when you use bluray as an ordinary definition source, the film you are seeing is effectively vastly less compressed than DVD at that resolution, and thus looks very much better.)
