Doesn't this acid test depend on whether your browser is on its default settings?? Which is why people are posting pics of their test results with different results??

Just wondering...

I've tried Opera - didn't like it - I use FF mostly because of the add-ons. I stopped using IE last year, tried Opera (not my browser) and only use FF. Yea it crashes on me alot but only when I have like 8 things downloading at once (which is often) :)

CAUSE PASSING THE ACID3 TEST IS THE UTMOST IMPORTANT THING IN A BROWSER!
STOP RATING BROWSERS BASED ON HOW THEY DO ON THAT TEST.

THE ADVANCED SCRIPTS USED IN THE ACID TESTS PROBABLY WON'T BE SEEN FOR SOME TIME IN ORDINARY WEBSITES.

/capslock

Also stop shunning firefox, you opera hoes, cause it takes up 500 whatever mbs of ram. Firefox takes up nowhere close to that. My firefox only takes up like 100mb after I have ran it for at least an hour. And it's not like 100mb is a lot. Today's computers have at least 1 gb of ram, so don't emphasize 1/10 of your ram as a lot.

I overclocked my Athlon 5000+ BE CPU from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz (STABLE) but none of the browsers, Seamonkey, Firefox, Opera, Chrome could handle the increased processing. All crashed. I'm using Win 7 build 7057 x64 version. It's too bad these browsers are still stuck in 32bit. 7's good, the browsers are lacking,

Yeah I noticed the latest version of FF is sucking up insane amounts of resources. Incidentally I had to dumb down the CPU to get the browsers agreeable again.

I use Chrome with AdMucher, mainly cause the browser starts up fast, loads pages fast, and you can see more of the screen than with other browsers.

yeah Opera is just.. meh? I don't have anything bad or good to say about it.

I've been a Firefox user for many years, but I'm sick of how slow FF3 is. Started out fast in 3.0, then slowed down a lot. I'm not unique in this situation, btw.

Not even disabling extensions helped. Some tweaking did help..
But why should I need to do ANY of this, when Google Chrome and IE8 are a lot faster out of the box, and it's safe to assume they don't 'degrade' over time like FF.

opera maybe have few % in world overall but many European countries got crazy big shares of opera browser.

Russia example:
http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser-RU-monthly-200903-200903-bar

in my country opera got 15%, unlike USA where opera is limping at the end, but since this article is about Europe and FF its not fair to leave opera out when its 3th most used browser in Europe.

I use Firefox as it has such nice add-ons. Adblock and Greasemonkey rock. Firebug is very nice to debug javascript. At this moment it takes up 160 MB of RAM whith 8 opened tabs. No problem for me (1,5 GB RAM, most people have more).
