Releaselog

Firefox 3.5 has been released!

A few minutes ago, Mozilla launched their new updated version of Firefox, Firefox 3.5. Thought I’d give you a mirror here, because the servers will probably overload like with the release of 3.0. Enjoy!

Things move quickly online, and we’ve beefed up the engine that runs Firefox to make sure you can keep up: Firefox 3.5 is more than twice as fast as Firefox 3, and ten times as fast as Firefox 2.* As a result, Web applications like email, photo sites and your favorite social networks will feel snappier and more responsive.

Already using it… seems pretty good.
    Loving the video tag.

Download it directly from an official mirror or using the update option (if you are using a previous version)

while some of you certainly might be stupid enough to download this application off rapidshare or similar, i recommend others to install

    adblock plus

    extension via menu/extras/addons

saves you a lot of time and bandwith when loading websites, also increases privacy as webbugs are blocked. and prevents smelly kids from earning money with warez, which is something 'the scene' strictly forbids.

Annoying Hotfile for this? You are kidding me, right?

Who would be actually so stupid and wait forever until the download starts to earn the mod some points and thus encourage him to do that again.

@14 – Tab Mix Plus does work with 3.5, just need to get the newer build from the developer's site. There's a link to it off of Mozilla's page for the addon.

Oh Yeah, Noticeably quicker for sure. For those that don't use it, don't flame us that do! and don't try to convert us. Just use the browser you want and so will we.

and set segments up to 10 in the options…

gets me a great speed boost

Teehee, I like your attitude. :D
But actually, you have to activate another blacklist besides a normal filter, e. g. "EasyPrivacy" as opposed to the notorious "Easylist".
You can find it on the left on Easylist's website:

Already on it! :P Installed a few hours ago.
I don't know about being faster, but ever since I've been on 3.xx rendering has been noticeably slower.
They should make a multi-threaded rendering engine.

Also opera is no where near Firefox. Even you are jealous of it and that's the reason what made you look here!

    June 30th, 2009 | 20:18

    Opera is not opensource holmes.

Opera is a good browser, but doesn't have as many plugins. And it is too bloated for my taste. I used to use it though.

@17 I agree with with you. I'm sure it was less of a convenience/courtesy and more of a ploy to make money.

He could of put it on megaupload and it would be faster.

What's Firefox? I'm using Internet Explorer and it works great. Guess I should look around to see what Firefox is. I don't go online that much, lol. :-)

I'm really P*ssed off at the new add-on pages at Mozilla, there is no date or category listed any more. I find it really annoying, and now takes a lot longer to find add-ons. Is there a way to change it back?

fahad , please do not post directly to a single mirror as it puts load stress on that mirror. The best way to link if you must is with http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.5/ so as to balance the load among multiple mirrors. http://www.mozilla.org/mirrors.html

Does the new version support all your favorite media-grabbing add-ons, like DownThemAll or DownloadHelper?

  53. photobucket
    July 1st, 2009 | 18:05

Yes it does, first go to tools > add-ons then click on Find Updates, make sure all your add-ons are updated, then go to help > Check For Updates, now it will tell you if any of your extensions won't work with 3.5, so you can decide before updating, but all should work, I know for sure DownloadHelper works.

I am astounded to see all the boneheads continue to offer hosting site links for freeware.

OK, no I am not. This place is crawling with boneheads.

  55. Wes

FF is open source, but it's not a charity or non-profit. FF makes millions. They make money off all the people who write extensions and things for it for free. I thought all the internet cowboys were wanting to fight corporate greed? Guess not.

Always fun when a new version of FF comes out and none of the extensions work. People could just use Opera instead and have 100+ FF-like extensions already built-in, but hey, that would be too easy.

  56. efwew2
