Firefox 3 Beta 3 released by Mozilla
Mozilla has made the Firefox 3 Beta 3 available for download, but has warned that it is intended for ” testing purposes only” and is aimed at developers rather than “casual users”. New features include improved security in the form of better presentation of website identity, malware protection, stricter SSL error pages and antivirus integration in the download manager. Ease of use enhancements include improved download manager search and progress indication in the status bar, “resumable” downloading, full page zoom and better integration with Windows Vista, Mac OS X and Linux.
While Mozilla obviously will take its time, and stick to perfecting the fourth beta candidate, the third beta looks much more like a finished candidate than its prior brethren. The first beta focused on speed and leanness, and surprised testers with visibly faster page loads than the current generation Mozilla, Opera, Apple, and Microsoft browsers. The next beta maintained this new speed while beefing up security with a number of key improvements and some minor user interface modifications. Mozilla is also aiming for “richer personalisation” by offering one-click book-marking, smart bookmark folders and better customisation of download actions for file types. Mozilla also announced live support via instant messaging. The full release of Firefox 3 is due later this year.

this was released months ago ffs.
and it’s a waste of time even trying it, as barely any addons are compatible with it.
Testing it as we speak, and liking it (faster rendering speed!). The only downside is that 95% of my plugins aren’t compatible…
Oh, and the memory usage is down almost 60%.
This is v3 Beta 3, its not exactly months old either…

it was released a week ago, not a month
Looking forward to the final release it.
Been testing it for months, prone to crash, not recommended till full version released. But remember the point of beta is too test.
I havent been able to use FF3.0 without crashing or it being unstable. I dont recommend this.
For those who want the home button back, display the ‘bookmarks’ toolbar, select customise, then drag the home icon back to the main toolbar
will this over write version two or can you run this side by side?
Been Using this BETA 3 for more than a Month now. RLSLog what is happening to the post? Cut the crap please.
wow people like to exaggerate “Mozilla announced Firefox 3 Beta 3 today, Feb 12 at approximately 5:45pm”
Thanks for the info Martin
that was a day or two ago, anyway ff 3 beta 3 is not bad, i think it might use less memory.
It also looks nicer – screenshot – http://i31.tinypic.com/2nhhyzc.jpg
Firefox FTW !
@15

Sabnock thanks for the reply.. too bad co’z I was thinking of installing this. Can’t afford to give up add ons over resources.. can’t get the best of both world until final release
yea thats true.
does I work fine with vista aero?
You can try the portable edition without uninstalling Mozilla FF 2.0.0.12.
Free download:
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/test
It is compatible with some Add-ons like Adblock Plus.
@5 yum
This wasn’t released months ago, FF3 was but not FF3 beta 3
Installing this version does not overwrite *anything*.
Install it, test it, then uninstall it from the add/remove app. No need to uninstall the 2.0 or anything…
PS: No personal data (bookmarks, add-ons, etc) will be lost.

if your addons don’t work get ‘nightly tester tools’
heh… just installed beta4, they call it Minefield instead of firefox lol
pretty sweet though, looks even better than 3
more info about the betas at the dev page: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Firefox_3_for_developers
does neone else who uses any of the firefox 3.0 betas/nightly builds find that subscribing to the rss feeds on this site dont work? (comes up with invalid URI) wheras firefox 2.0 doesnt?
erazare wrote: heh… just installed beta4, they call it Minefield instead of firefox lol
You did NOT install 3.0 Beta 4 as Minefield is the code name of the Trunk nightlies itself where regressions and checkins with new updates happen each day and the Minefield trunk nightlies is currently labeled 3.0b4pre to show it is a not a final 3.0 B4 but a work in progress and the Trunk was changed from 3.0b3 to 3.0b4 over a week ago. The next beta 4 is not final until March 10-14 at moment though the date is not set in stone.
So if you do not want to be testing with updates patches each day and to deal with something broken or unfinished at times then stick with the Firefox 3.0.B3 or even better the Firefox 2.0.0.12 as the 3.0B3 and especially the Minefield nightlies are meant for testers.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008021304 Minefield/3.0b4pre ..a long time tester as releases are boring…
Hmm, guess i’ll pass this one and keep using Opera, Hehehe…
