Here is my latest contribution to our TV packs that we have been posting lately that have been pretty popular. Its the one and only season of the very popular Sci-Fi series Firefly in DVD rip form thanks to FoV. Firefly is an American science fiction television series created by writer/director Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel). The show first aired in the US and Canada on the FOX network in September of 2002 and was cancelled after only 11 of the 14 episodes aired and ended with many questions unanswered, so Joss Whedon teamed up with Universal Pictures to make a film based on the show called “Serenity” to tie up all the loose ends that were left after cancellation. For some reason when the show was aired on FOX network the episode were aired completely out of order (See this for difference on how the episodes were aired and the order they were meant to be viewed).

Firefly is set five hundred years from today in a new planetary system after humanity abandons “Earth That Was”. Under the leadership of Malcolm Reynolds, a renegade who fought against the new unified central government (the “Alliance”), the crew of the Firefly-class vessel Serenity struggles to survive any way they can. They fly between the border planets to keep away from the Alliance and below its radar. This series was described as a “science fiction western” but is different from other space-based shows as it features no aliens.

    I never watched this, but thought the movie was good – is this worth downloading as i don't want to be pissed off about unresolved stories etc because they cancelled it,

    This is so good, one of the most entertaing shows ever to appear on tv. If you only saw the film the series is much the same thing but with smaller stories and a smaller budget (but it doesn't look cheap, just less filmish). The important thing is that the same characters and cracking dialogue are there.

    The people at Fox are f'ing morons, they sabotaged this from the beginning, it never stood a chance.

    Put in another vote for "one of the greats". My best friend loaned his box-set to me about 3 years ago saying "I know you like Sci-Fi.. like me.. but you probably won't like this." I watched all episodes in a week and was hooked!

    Since then.. I purchased the box-set for myself.. then I bought Serenity (in full screen). My friend got Serenity in wide screen and then got a blu-ray version. Now I have an LED HDTV.. gotta' figure a way to con him out of his WS disc.

    This Show had great potential, with the best episode being the unaired last one included in the DVD set. The movie was the conclusion to the main story arc. The extras gave some details of the politics behind the termination of the series, including airing out of sequence. The DVD set is in the correct sequence. Recommended.

    for some reason its only linking the first half of the web address you need so just copy up until the end of from http:// yo .torrent and you shouldnt have a problem,

    as i said im getting 250kb/s+ which is faster than the 120kb/s hotfile offers, and im on a 8mb connection so anyone outside the uk should get faster speeds

    @28 The reason it's so confusing is because the story after the series, before the movie, is a comic book series(there were 3) named Serenity: Those Left Behind. It should be available at http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3606834/Firefly–Serenity–Comic–Those_Left_Behind–1__2___amp__3–PDF

    There are also some promos, featuring River that is easily found on youtube.

    This is a great example of superior TV and how easy it is or a network to ruin it. I never saw firefly when it aired and it wasn't until it was syndicated on scifi did i catch it. It seems a little odd at first, as it has very old west / pioneer feeling and yet is a sci/fi show. Trust me, the first episode (the 2 hour opener) is so freaking amazing that I was hooked and went right out and got my hands on this season and just plowed thru it. I even picked up the boxset as a way to support the show hoping it would get un-cancelled (like family guy). It didn't but it did get a movie which does change some of the origin story but is so amazingly well done as it is great for both fans of the series and newcomers.

    I do recommend this series before the movie, as it gives you a firm grasp of the characters and mythos of the universe.

    Everyone's saying this is such a great Sci-Fi show. I agree it's a great show, but it's so much more a Western than a Sci-Fi. Great stuff, but the space angle is rather underplayed (so it's not really just for geeks, although only Whedon geeks saw it first time out).

    Also, like everything Joss's done since Buffy, it has one of the worst theme tunes ever, but with time the cheesiness grows on you. (How lame is the Dollhouse tune!? Sounds like a crappy romantic anime song!)

    gossipninja made my point while I was typing. Bravo gossipninja.

    Incidentally, a lot of the commercial Sci-Fi canon bears comparison with Western movies. Story arcs and characterisation in Star Wars (for one) is practically copy>paste. Firefly just wears the influence on its sleeve, and explores the relevance properly. It's thought provoking stuff, and is most of Whedon's work.

    greatest show ever.
    i torrented it some 2,5 jears ago and watched the whole series in like 1 day^^
    meanwhile i have original dvd boxset and german (damn xpensive though, lousy synchronised…) version of it and of course serenity aswell
    if i ever buy a br-player this show will be the the first one to get!

    Gonna get me the BlueRay of this show! have got dvds but hell. This show deserve to be wacth in all its glory. Lame @SS FOX! Canseling that show! What a bunch of morons..

    If anyone is thinking of purchasing the series I would buy the Blu-Ray, I got it for only £25 and it is a much better picture than the DVD. Alternatively you could download the 720p or 1080p rips, it's well worth it.

    Yes, Joe. There are 5 more seasons. That is why the poster wrote that it was canceled during the first season.
