Wow, you people have actually not used this have you. I have seen people with over 500,000 records and they use it just fine for businesses with over 500 employees. It also supports ODBC so use what ever backend you want whether it is Oracle, MySQL or just about anything else. Designing a front end and doing relationships has never been easier. Access is the worst pile of crap ever!

i’m pretty sure this is some second rate DB software from Apple (as any software claiming to combing ‘power’ w/ ‘ease of use’ must necessarily be). beyond that, it’s essentially an apple product. ’nuff said.

You weren’t dealing with Filemaker Pro – you were dealing with a crappy company that made a crappy database product that used Filemaker Pro.

This software and the firm who owns this software are the biggest pile of shit ever. At work we use to use the really old version of this called Photographic Organiser and it was so wank and cost so much to update each year. (we had to phone their London base office up which was costing us pounds with each minute, then ask for a serial number to enter into the menu otherwise it wouldnt work, we also got charged for the serial number) It was basically designed for photographers and as stated above is a simple database application.

The problem lies with the GUI of it. And I can still see from the above pic that they are using the god damn same principle from about 5 year ago. It’s designed like the AOL software, with every menu you go to, every client info you want to see, be it address details, invoice details, order details, making an letter to that client, putting the address of that client onto a envelope template; it will open up in a NEW window. And there was about 50 different menus to go to!

The left hand side of the package is exactly the same with a ‘zoom’ function [bottom left] and previous/next client buttons at the top left. And that panel never moves, its ALLWAYS there no matter what you want to do.

It’s slow and clunky, YUCK ..just YUCK!
