The IRA was a terrorist organisation condemmed by BOTH Irish and British government that killed thousands of Irish and British citizens, that mainly consisted of profenssiona crimminals. As much as the continuing occupation of northern ireland annoys, there isn’t a better example of US hypocrisy. For 20 years aamerikans funded terrorism across england and ireland. terrorism that was much more pervasive than anything amerika has ever confronted yet successive administrations refused to stop it. wanted the irish amerikan vote.
Suddenly when amerika cops a itty bitty bit back all bets are off.
post#25 reflects the ignorance amerikans even irish amerikans have of the thing. Free scotland he says not acknowledging that the vast majority of orange supporters in northern ireland are of scots descent.
I hate the english and enjoy bashing them (verbally and physically) whenever the opportunity presents but #25 complains about england in ireland while supporting his own nation for doing exactly the same elswhere. a pox on both their houses.

My old man was undercover in NI during the ‘troubles’. I did wonder why the British Army allowed him to grow his hair long at times (& sometimes a beard).

He did three tours – & during one, he tells me, had to draw his sidearm to get out of an Ulster pub alive!
