Fears of the Dark 2007 LiMiTED DVDRip XviD-NODLABS

Group NODLABS just pred a 2007 French black-and-white animated anthology film named “Fears of the Dark”. Apparently, it is about the subject of fear. Since it’s black-and-white, I don’t think I’m gonna grab this one. :) English sub is included in the release.

PLOT: Different black-and-white animation techniques tell several scary stories. There’s a story of a teenage boy who meets the wrong girl. Another tale deals with a small community where people disappear and are never seen again. Then there’s the narrative of a little Japanese girl who suffers from horrible nightmares followed by a tale where a man doesn’t get the rest he hoped for in an old not-so-abandoned house. These stories are connected by the story about a man with a devilish smile and four enormous dogs from hell and by a woman’s monologue about her fears

Genre: Animation / Horror / Mystery
IMDB rating: 7.1/10
Directed by: Blutch, Charles Burns…

    This has to be one of the most intelligent comments ever made about a movie: "Since it’s black-and-white, I don’t think I’m gonna grab this one."

  5. January 5th, 2009 | 22:42

    @2

    It is obviously not a comment on the movie, it's just as simple as that I don't like black-and-white movies, I don't have anything against the movie, ok?

    @Will: Ok man….gotcha….to each his own. But it's a shame to miss on a good movie because of it's lack of color.

    But it's all good….would like to know if we need subs for this or not though. Take care ;)

    @6 amused

    How hard is it for you to click the nfo link where it states very clearly what language it is, amongst other bits of info. There's a lot more info there than there is in a lot of other releases. Grow up. It's not English, and its black and white – that would put a lot of people off grabbing it. Including me.

    I thought this site was to report releases, not give all the info so lazy tw@ts like amused don't have to click their mouse button once.

    The title is wrongly translated Peur(s) du noir means Fear(s) of the black (not dark, although it is a play with words as it means mostly the same) being and black and white movie, it makes sense. And more, think of that vast mass of unknowns, the color blind, B&W roxxors :D

    @12: Sorry master….I am new to the scene….thanks for the advice and now I know where I can find all the info about a release.
    However your out of place attack on all open-minded people is not appreciated. Just read your own comment and decide who needs to grow up:

    @5: No, it's not OK, you are an editor for a very visited site that has film for one of it's main subjects, and you cheerfully say something like that. NHF, but most probably you don't have any kind of base knowledge about film as a form of art.

    I'm French and i can tell you : this is a very good movie (6 shorts actually)
    Peur(s) du Noir , meaning "Being afraid of the dark" (any kind of darkness :night, obscurity, nightmares, cimetery etc..).
    It was directed by people coming usually from cartoon magazines.

    Try it and if you like Cinema as a form of Art, you won't be disapointed !

    I'm used to the stupid comments in the first paragraph of the releases, and actually kind of enjoy it. The editors has obviously no clue about movies in general, absolutely no base knowledge about the classic ones, he just blab out anything that comes first in his mind. And I get a good laugh of it many times.

    Okay, for this movie, I actually seen it in cinemas, and didn't like it that much. Yeah it has some artistic visuals, some good work with sound, but the 6 stories aren't top notch in terms of plot or making the atmosphere, I was kind of bored. But hell, you can try it anyway, maybe you like it.

    "Since it’s black-and-white, I don’t think I’m gonna grab this one."

    Man, how old are you? 14? Judging by most post from new staff members after the big "Reeged" debacle, Martin seems to have raided a kindergarten for new staff members. I never liked Reedged, but he did seem to know his stuff instead of making useless personal comments in his posts (unlike Will or Dot).

    This is a damn fine movie, and the black-and-white makes the atmosphere so much better.

    "Since it’s black-and-white, I don’t think I’m gonna grab this one."

    This is indeed one of the most ridiculous comment one can make about a movie – it reminds me of my ex-girl friend who refusded to buy a movie ticket for a black and white movie (it was a Kaurismäki film). Sad, so sad…

    We interrupt our regular broadcast schedule for this breaking news!

    This shocking announcement just in: Pleasantville, American History X, Sin City, Memento, The Man Who Wasn't There, Ed Wood, Clerks, and Schindler's List are no longer suitable for anyone to watch ever again. They are to lie unwatched and gathering dust forevermore for making the dreadful mistake of daring to use black and white filmography.

    A curse on you, black and white films! Get back to the 1930s where you belong.

    If there's no bangs! flashes! dazzling lights and colours! then it doesn't belong on your modern TV screen. God gave us colour TV and it'd be a sacrilege to use it in any capacity less than FULL COLOUR ALL THE TIME! Bang! Kapow! Zwoosh!

    January 6th, 2009 | 13:16

    Like Pleasantville, about half of it is. Wikipedia:

    The film's events unfold in two separate, alternating narratives—one in color, and the other in black and white. The black and white sections are told in chronological order, showing Leonard conversing with an anonymous phone caller in a motel room. Leonard's investigation is depicted in five-minute color sequences that are in reverse chronological order. As each scene begins, Leonard has just lost his recent memories, leaving him unaware of where he is or what he was doing. The scene ends just after its events fade from his memory. By reversing the order, the spectator is unaware of the preceding events, just like Leonard. By the film's end, the two narratives converge into a single color sequence.
