HATRED are back with the second standalone storyline expansion to F.E.A.R. Discover the truth of the Perseus project. I played half of the original F.E.A.R but gave up because it was too freaky for me.

Perseus Mandate is the second standalone storyline expansion to the award winning first person shooter franchise F.E.A.R. Fight fear with F.E.A.R. as you take point in a brand new team experiencing a new incident at Armacham with a story line that runs parallel to F.E.A.R. and Extraction Point revealing a new perspective of the event. Your job in this new adventure is to find out what Perseus is and why the Nightcrawlers have been called in to collect it before you can. Face off against new enemies, new horrors and new weapons in the stand alone expansion pack F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate.
There are three new weapons to carry with you into battle including a new chain-lightning gun that’s effective but not as powerful as the tiny amount of ammunition found in the campaign would lead you to believe it would be, a nifty new machine gun that has a scope that can magnify light, and a grenade launcher that isn’t really worth bothering with in most cases. As you’d expect from previous F.E.A.R. titles, you’ll need to use any of the weapons with a healthy dose of slo-mo since the enemy AI will murder the hell out of you otherwise.
There’s also a new enemy type called the Nightcrawler. These guys are a huge pain in the ass because they can move quickly (or perhaps just use the same slo-mo technology you have in their favor) are accurate, throw two grenades while vaulting off of the walls, and take about a thousand bullets to the chest before dying. They’re definitely the most challenging of the enemies in the game including both the small and big mechs and are a welcome addition.

A bad time to do a retail FPS game release unless you have a huge following.
Crysis, Gears and CoD4 are going to over shadow this terribly and it won’t get half the attention it would have if it had come out 3-4 weeks ago.
From the demo it was just like playing F.E.A.R. in new levels, not really anything i could get excited about.
FEAR isn’t ‘freaky’ unless you call blundering around in the same textured rooms over and over, fighting the same bunch of clones over and over, and having the lights go out occasionally along with some ’scary’ voice over, ‘FREAKY’.
Never understood they hype of this game. The campaign was painful, going to the top then the bottom and back to the top and then again to the bottom of the same building with the same repetitive dark office rooms, fighting the same clones(admittedly the fights were initially fun, but after the 20th fight against 5 or 6 clones, i wondered if that was all the game had to offer…yep). Idiotic progression and repetition meant that I never really cared for the game about half-way in and just finished it out of a sense of duty, rather than enjoyment.
I can never get the audio working with the fear games. I have a x-fi soundcard but the last standalone title from the fear series I get no audio what so ever.

The reviews are only bad because this second expansion is nothing new from the original game or the first expansion, just more of the same. If you’ve never played F.E.A.R. before then you should jump right in, it’s an awesome FPS experence you won’t forget, up there with the best of them, that being said if you’ve been there a few times then you’ll probably be disappointed with the new expansion!!! Best wait for F.E.A.R. Project Origin.

“Ready to Retire”-engine, new INNOVATIVE features like: Slowdowns (every shooter nowadays have them), 1 and a half new weapons… Hmmm, run in the narrow office corridors (with this engine, you most probably cannot do anything else)… Boring, boring, boring.

No problems.
Crysis is the only FPS comming out with something new and thats about it. you want something new? not much that hasnt been tried already. I remember great games like Starflight1 & 2, MULE, Archon ect….now all we get are RTS and FPS crap. at least I have my NWN2 to fall back on.

Soo…I go to install and it won’t let me install on my games drive even though there’s 10gigs of space. So I install on C where it wants where there’s also 10gig of space, and right at the end of installation, a message pops up saying there suddenly is no more space left to install. Great.

FEAR was fun but the storyline was lacking, so without a heap of new guns this game is going to be boring. Crysis looks OK, the graphics are nothing special, and EA is known for buggy PC games. BF2142 still needs patching for problems that have existed since the very first version, the only way to solve these problems on Vista is to edit BF2142.exe with C++.
I’m waiting for a Soldier of Fortune 3 and the 36 points of seperation on the models(which means GIBS for everyone, shooting off hands, feet, even EARS!) When it was first announced they said they were aiming for a November release so hopefully it won’t be a long wait.

if you get the “no free space to install error” you go START->RUN->write REGEDIT and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version . in the right side of this menu you will find “ProgramFilesDir”. modify it and instead of C: type a partition you want to install the game in (at least 7gigs required). After the game is installed, go back an change the ProgramFilesDir with the initial address

Install the game, then run the WMFADist.exe found in the game directory.
That solved the problem for me.

Hi all, i liked the first one of this title, it had great graphics in 2005, and it was a big hardware demanding game, i was lucky that i could play it good not excelent but good, i have a new rig now and its still hard to run all maxed, whats wrong with that?¡¡, i have Gears of War for PC and i can play it at max stats, well at max stats that directx9 allows me, and its like playing in the xbox 360, very smooooth, i mean, something most be wrong in the programing part of the FEAR titles, and there has been 2 years since the last standalone, and it looks the same, even project origin looks the same, with all the new games arriving this month this franchise will stay way behind the big ones.

I loved the 1st F.E.A.R. game.. I got it on the PC, and bought it for my X360.. But this latest standalone, just plain blows.. I believe it should be marketed as a budget title..

Hey guys, I thought I’d help out with the problem of this game not installing into other partitions than c:\
Ok its a registry problem so hit start, run, and run: regedit. Drop down the local machine folder(hit the little + next to it), then drop down microsoft (or windows if its an option, which it isnt on some systems) then drop down windows, then select “current version” in the pane displaying its contents there should be a registry file called ProgramFilesDir, this will be set to c:\program files, right click and modify C:\ to whatever partition you’d rather install into. It should work now. This procedure may differ slightly between operating systems but in all circumstances is reletivly similar, so don’t give up just poke around till you find ProgramFilesDir. I hope this helps
I need help! it installs fine and everything but when im about to run it, i get just a blank screen it looks like is gonna load the game but is just a dark screen, it never starts. samething with the original fear, anybody know what im talking about?

The balck screen you are getting in both fear games wal;t is because your graphic card will not run the game i had this problem when i used to have onboard graphic chip so i bought an 8800 ultra and thyey both work now.

Ok. I did Everything I was suppose to (I think). I mean, I downloaded the original FEAR as well as its first expansion (Extraction Point), but I can’t seem to get passed the opening of this game. Every time the dialogue ends and I’m about to play, windows shuts the game down and an error message goes up. I copied the crack and everything.
