Exodus From The Earth-PROCYON

PROCYON brings us a new PC first person shooter game called Exodus From The Earth. I wished someone who knew about games added this before me but it looks like it’s going to be me posting this :S

The Exodus from the Earth is an action-packed shooter based on an advanced engine «Riposte» provided by ToolsMedia Corp. The game utilizes all the capabilities of modern processors and video accelerators for the creation of the highest possible realistic and enriched game environment. The action takes place in two worlds, in the near future on Earth and on a distant planet with uncommon inhabitants and landscapes. During gameplay the player will meet with various characters ranging from security service agents to cyborgs, robots, and mutants. The player will have to solve numerous quests and eventually to find out if human life and civilization are possible beyond the Earth’s confines. Outstanding visual effects, realistic physics, destructible objects, various characters and means of transportation, dynamic and unpredictable gameplay combined with nice hi-poly locations and unique weapons, will ensure players the live feeling of action and dynamics. All this will contribute to extremly intriguing and absolutely thrilling gameplay.

With the imminent superheating of the sun looming, a corporation undertakes sinister experiments to insure humanity’s survival – and subjugation.

Exodus from the Earth review (PC)

The screenshots are misleading – the game doesn’t look this good when running

The last review I wrote was for the sublime The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, a work of gaming mastery that is a joy to play.

Perhaps it is unfair on Exodus from the Earth (EE) that I came straight from that to this ghastly horror of an FPS. It is just unfathomably bad.

The lip-synching is atrocious and we can only assume it was designed with another language in mind.

If you’ve ever seen mediocre Hong Kong kung fu movies dubbed into English, these will now seem professionally done in comparison.

The acting behind the hilarious lip-synching makes even Brian Bosworth look professional, especially when you start talking to incidental characters.

Imagine having to watch Hamlet with Dolph Lundgren playing the lead role. Visualise Sylvester Stallone attempting Henry V’s speech before the Battle of Agincourt after sustaining a number of heavy blows to the skull.

Keep those images in your mind and then load up Exodus from the Earth. Yes, you’ll be altogether unsurprised to hear that EE is far worse.

Even when not acted, the writing borders on the ridiculous. In the first mission briefing/loading screen, you have this gem:

“I can only hope that Mike Sallivan is a good guy and will give me a bazooka or something like that, otherwise I may not be able to cope with this!”

The main character is essentially complaining that he has to ‘talk’ to some people instead of blowing them to bits with rockets.

To be fair, if the game was even vaguely interesting this would be a major plus point – the sheer 80s Action nature of the quote above would give it a few bonus marks.

However, the game is just too atrocious even for me to add points on for such things.

Talk to some of the employees in the first location and you get belters like “What the f*ck? They do not let us go to work!” and “F*cking animal!”

That second ‘exclamation’ is a drone complaining about monkeys in Borneo stealing his equipment, incidentally.

As mentioned above, we can only assume this was translated into English, which would explain this:

“It is rumoured the colonists on distant planets do not live long. Anyway, I will not definitely fly there!”

Not quite ‘All your base are belong to us!” but it is getting there.

I’ve barely mentioned the game itself and with good reason. The graphics make the game look like its development stopped in 1999, while the actual shooting and combat feels strange and unresponsive.

When you can be killed by touching the side of a slowly descending dumpster, you know you aren’t playing the next incarnation of Deus Ex.

The press release claims that up to ten players can get involved over the Internet or a LAN. They’ll be lucky if more than half that buy it.

If you are one of these people, I’ll hunt you down and jab needles into your eyes while you sleep.

    1/10

@David Brown – Game was developed in Russian so bad translations and crappy voice acting is all part of that.

Game does look cartoonish if you take into account the homicidal jokes this whole thing obviously doesn’t try to take itself seriously, thus argument for Lameness of the game is gone.

Its a budget shooter that is best served in Russian, zo learn ze language, you.. pezant.

Uh, sorry for posting this here, but can anyone explain why the Dead Space thread was removed? I remember having downloaded 3 invalid/non-English versions before someone eventually posted links to a Multi-5 version that does in fact allow us to play and install in English. On-Topic: I just don’t think I’m gonna try this one. Too many, similar, FPS’s lately.

@9 – Nice post, I just wanted to add that the very name of the game shows what level of expertise the company who made this have. “Exodus from the Earth” is grammatically and vocally incorrect. Proper English would have, or could have been “Exodus From Earth” (Earth is a proper name, so it doesn’t need “the” in front of it). Or even “Earth’s Exodus”. Actually, just plain “Exodus” would have been better that “Exodus From the Earth”. When I read that title aloud, I can only feel right by adding a thick foreign accent to it – because it doesn’t even sound right in English.

All your base berong to us, so you musta exodus froma the Earth…

During the night of October 7, 1895 Japanese assassins from the secretive terrorist organization Black Ocean Society (Gen’yosha – ultranationalist paramilitary founded by an ex-samurai) entered the private quarters of Korea’s queen who had refused Japan’s imperialistic demands.
They stabbed, slashed and then tossed the kerosene-soaked, screaming Queen Min into a blazing fire in the palace garden. The predictable civil turmoil provided the trumped-up justification for a military occupation facilitated by the Kempeitai (Army military police),
the arrest of thousands of dissenting Koreans and the eventual annexation (August 22, 1910) of Korea. The majority of Japanese citizens believed they were in Korea to help.1 Cloaked in patriotism,
humanitarianism and nationalism, ordinary citizens of imperialist nations rarely recognize the covetous, covert agenda of their rulers or more correctly – the banksters and conglomerates that direct their rulers.
