ESET bring us perhaps one of the most popular security suites available “ESET Smart Security”. Ive never personally tried it because I am happy with Kaspersky but a few friends have recommended it to me before. PS is it just me or does the picture on the cover remind you of the robots from the movie I, Robot? :P

    Trust me, Kaspersky is the best one out there.

    Kaspersky trial from Kaspersky webpage + Kaspersky Trial Reset = Protection forever.

    Eset was good, some years ago when Norton sucked, now bitdefender and kaspersky are rulling the market.

    you are WRONG.
    the fastest and lightest antivirus now is NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2009.

    IT IS FASTER THAN NOD32, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, AVG.

    the funny thing is people switched to NOD32 or Kaspersky cause Norton was a resource hog.

    Now Kaspersky and Bitdefender are the most resource hogging Antivirus out there. and they both SUCK compared to new Norton Antivirus 2009.

    it only takes 6mb in the background. Not even NOD32 can do that. the protection is THE BEST in the industry.

    Kaspersky is now what Norton was back in 2003.

    its time to switch to NORTON… simply the best!

    x64… 11 MB under normal operation.
    It also fixed the passive http scanning where in v3 it would behave like in active scanning mode.

    @13 – does the anti-virus include a firewall though? That does tempt me a bit to try it out now they've really reduced the resources required. Eset's done me the most reliable job out of all security companies though by far…

    @17 yes, Smart Security has a firewall(tells you in the post it does), it's Eset NOD32 that doesn't.

    I used NOD32 and Commodo for while and you wouldn't have thought they were running together,NOD32 was good Smart Security is better.

    I've been using the 67 year trial version of Smart Security that was on pirate bay and it's been working a treat.

    oh and btw, Mr. Wrong from post nr 13.
    Norton is one of the worst anti-viruses ever. It's huge and has a bunch of useless features + it catches too much false positives. I had Norton. Had to format C: because it was a sh*tty ( pardon my language ) product, Twice !
    Haven't had any problems with Nod32 though. Nice, small and easy to handle, able to add exclusions is on of my favourites.
    SO! Whine somewhere else.

    Using a combination of the following applications on four different systems. I use torrents, crack gen sites, plus and in two years since configuring I haven't had a single infection enter my network:

    Mozilla Firefox with Addons:Adblock Plus, CustomizeGoogle, Noscript, Trackmenot

    Avast 14-month renewable FREE license (FULLY Functional)

    Preventative: Spybot Search & Destroy

    Reactive: Malwarebytes

    NOT one of these programs costs a dime and you go straight to the manufacturer's site to dl. How much MORE safe can you be?

    I've been through NOD, Norton, mcAfee, TrendMicro, Commodo, CA Zonealarm, AVG, Kaspersky, F-secure – All in my opinion are bulky. However, if you find comfort in using them, continue doing so, but definitely avoid dl'ing an AV program from torrent sites or cracked releases.

    it seems like the people here who diss norton haven't used the 2009 version.

    as @13 said, the new norton/symantec is far more effective in catching viruses, and much less of a resource-hog than prev versions. Unfortunately, norton has been a victim of its old reputation, so its hard for people to see the new and improved product.

    like av update files, we should all constantly update our reviews/opinions of these software based on their new versions.

    anyway, i thank those who uploaded the lnx for this eset. will try to see if it's still as good as before. =)

    It's true that Norton 2009 has been stripped down to be a faster 'loading' program and the 'gamer' edition uses less resources. Nod still beats them in just about every other catagory though. All of you people saying 'Kaspersky' and Avira' and that are good need to sign up for virus bulletin.

    The 'Virus Bulletin' independent analysis are the only ones online worth looking at. And if you would look at these you would realise that those anti-virus don't have a very high success ratio.

    Nod is the record holder, and it is the industry leader. It has been for many years and until such time as another program becomes better i will continue to use it and resell it. And believe me i DO look at all of them. I get the virus bulletin emailed to me and i have tried the new Nortons on several clients machines. So far it has missed a few virus including the new stupid one with the indian lady talking as the computer starts up. Nod cleaned it straight up.

    Everyone sign up for VB so you know what the hell you are talking about before you make yourself look like an fool talking about inferior AV in a forum such as this.

    …anyone who`s talking about Norton being good, should be pointing their google at "PIFTS.EXE" and reading what there is therein, some sobering stuff there.

    I`ve always used AVG, but might try this out on my laptop and see what it`s like….

    …but Norton is NOT an alternative ATM, like I said….

    So basically you are a total n00b and you need to get some knowledge about cracking software. I suggest you learn or disconnect from the internet if you can't grasp simple concepts of computing.

    what is with this constant noob calling just because something doesnt work, im not using those logins im using the standard install and the server address that was with the file, the server doesnt respond and is being worked on im hearing from others, i dont trust any of u lot on here for downloading stuff as theres been too many viruses in files and if u cant be honest then u cant be trusted i know that any AV will say these types of files are viruses but with it being off this site they probably are!
