    I have gone insane trying to figure which is better Kaspersky IS 2k9 or Eset 3.0.. I was using kaspersky the other day and I think it slows my internet down and blocks to many non-hostile programs, where as eset seems to be okay with everything.

    Does this come with just a redirect to nod321.com’s AV db or is a true ‘crack’ which extends the trial permanently and WON’T break… or alternatively a key which will just fux0r over in around 2 days time..

    J/w – as I used to always use NOD32 til the cracks became a pain in the ass, avast is far less prone to having blacklisted keys.

    I´v tested Gadat Internet Security, BitDefender 2008 I.S and this one too.

    TbH, this does not find any Virus i had on a DVD from 3 Years ago! The other 2 are bloatware[bitdefe.], but Gdata does what u expect from a Av. Software.

    So for those with little or nearly Zero Know-How, buy gdata,norton or bitdefender[for BT only Avirus!, not the crap with fw,reg. cleaner etc..].

    After this, i´v tested Avira Free and Pro, and the Diff. are null! I don´t know what the Pro Version does better, but both have and are the same Scanner.

    For the avg lovers out there, iv tested and used it up to ver. 7 something. But slow Scan and not the Best Detection Rate, made me switch to Avast[both are on same Level--as scanner].

    In other Words, dunno why ppl buy a License for this crap! There is no need to do that, buy a 2nd PC just for Working/P2P etc. and your good[offline].

    Free Av. 1ºAvira 2ºAvast 3ºnone

    Thank you stevenbhoy, nifty site, my 2.7 fix unlimited updates dont work anymore.

    Nod32 2.7 + zonealarm pro 7 works well for me anyways, had it for couple years, no problems at all. Have it on 4 pcs. AVG(free) works nice too but can be a hassle sometimes.

    NOD32 WAS good, now they are average, the top vendors are really, G Data (uses bitdefender + avast engines), Avira, Avast, Kaspersky and Norton are NOW on the same level. There aren’t a “better” protection suite, the best method is common sense.

    Only a n00b would use Norton. Ok..so it does a decent job but with the exception of Ahead Nero it is perhaps the worst piece of bloatware availabe and really hogs system resources. Unless you own a NASA supercomputer I would stay away from Norton. I’ve been using an old cracked version of NOD32 (v2.5) for years and it still updates and hasn’t let a single virus through. I occasionally check with PrevX just to check nothing sneaked in.

    October 13th, 2008 | 14:06

    Spambone if u made such statement obiously the last norton u used is before 2007.
    Norton anti virus 2009 & Norton internet security 2009 are the fastest&lightest security products today.
    No more bloatware.
    Of course at the end of the day detection matters,and if u open keygen exe everyday no av product will offer 1000%protection.

  33. Wishbone
    October 13th, 2008 | 14:09

    @30 Spambone

    Have to agree with you there. It’s been a toss up for years now, as to whether it’s Norton or Nero that collapses first into a digital singularity. I warn people away from them like the plague.

    Remember the old ATguard firewall? Nice bit of software until Symantec snapped it up, bloated it and called it Norton Internet Security.

    As for Nod32, I’m still running version 2.51 and it’s still doing just what I want it to do, with a relatively tiny memory footprint.

  34. spambone & Wishbone

    you don’t know what you talking about

  35. Wishbone
    October 13th, 2008 | 14:21

    @34

    Of course I don’t. In the last sixteen or so years of building and maintaining bespoke desktop systems, I haven’t observed a single, recognisable trait in the software I’ve used or had experience of, have I sunshine?

    I grant you I’d be interested to see if, as you say, Norton have got their act together and produced a nice, sleek product for a change. Given that it’s been a year or so now since I’ve even had to look at a Norton installation, there may be something in what you say.

    I think Spambone and I knew exactly what we were talking about. Just don’t try to be so sharp that you cut yourself, ok?

    avoid the hassles of finding logins from the net

  41. FProt Guy
    October 13th, 2008 | 14:31

    F-Prot 6 is probably the best AV out there (high capture rate, low false alarm rate, and very low memory usage). Problem is trying to find a crack for the most recent version.

    Unfortunately some people need to use Windows Server 2003 and as such most of the “cracked” version of NOD32 will not work with our operating systems. And since F-Prot 3 was disabled, and no crack for v6 to be found, it makes things difficult.

  42. Norton 2009
    October 13th, 2008 | 14:36

    for now best av is norton 2009
    Norton 2009 is doing pretty well job, both in performance and security

    I am so sick of you dweebs that continually piss on Norton. Have any of you bothered to look at the 2009 version and its speed. I have tried most of these other Antivirus progs and they are certainly no better and in many cases far worse than Norton. Norton also removes viruses without destroying Windows whereas many of the ones you support will fix the virus and zap XP along with it. Have a look at 2009 before you show your ignorance further.

  53. Mike
    October 13th, 2008 | 17:41

    To be honest I’ve never touched Norton since stone age and I’ve always thought it still was/is crap. Perhaps not anymore.

    Aaanyways I haven’t used a AV for a year now and I’ve had less trouble than when I have an AV. Tiny theory, hackers target as many people as possible, people with specific AVs perhaps? Who knows. No AV for me works fine, with the occasional scan with Spybot – S&D.

    @Soul,

    sounds to me like your memory is the problem here. I had the same thing, couldn’t figure out what it was until a friend advised me to check my memory.

    I had 4 banks of 1GB, turned out one of them was bad. When I took it out everything went back to normal.

    So check that first.

  55. Tee

    Btw, NOD32 is great, been using it for years, don’t give me those annoying false positives like some others do, but if something’s really wrong it will catch it every time.

    @32 – “NAV & NIS 2009 are the fastest&lightest security products today”.
    Hmm i can’t believe you really think so – NOD32 (bus.ed) does rock – so does KAV – personally use either you can get to install and keep regged…as licences do expire. We use Norton commercially at work and it is bloatware, the footprint is a LOT larger and it often misses files i then bring home & NOD warns me about – even AntiVir picked up other “clean files” on my parent’s PC that i emailed them from work. NAV isnt complete rubbish – it’s just not the fastest & best at detection.

    @2 condombreaks
    Main problem with many PC users is that many of them don’t know how to setup properly their AV programs. I know what I’m talking about, I own a company for computers manufacture/service and also have 21 year of experience with computers, my first computers were Commodore 64 & ZX Spectrum 48K (I’m 34 years YOUNG!) and all of them (every single computer since i was kid) are 100% functional and virus free… :)
    Many PC users think that their only task about AV programs is to install AV program (Next, Next, Next…) and AV program will do the rest. I’s so wrong!
    Also many of them think that that they are 100% safe if they use newest AV and anti-spyware programs. They need to know that viruses, trojans, spyware and other malware stuff are always one step ahead, like flue virus in real life – each year he always comes in some other “modification” different from previous version and then it takes some time for proper vaccine to be discovered.
    Only God knows how many computers monthly ends in my computer service because their owners think something like this: “…I own the best AV program and my computers are 100% virus-free, there must be some hardware mailfunction that prevents my computer to work properly…”. In more than 90% cases those computers are so full of viruses that in many cases OS is working like turtle who smokes weed… :) & :( When I print them (customers) anti-virus report list of viruses/spywares found and destroyed on there computers there is always some kind of explanation for that:
    a). “…maybe this is not the AV report list for my computer..”
    b). “…I was on the business trip, and my 5 year old son is probably using my computer when I was away, he probably turned OFF my super-turbo-100%safe anti-virus and then go to some porn sites…” (what a stupid excuse, heard this so many times)
    c). “…honestly, I use this computer very rare, other inmates in my house are using this computer much often than me, and maybe they turned OFF anti-virus program when they were using internet…”
    Some of them are using Avast, some AVG, Kaspersky, Norton, Avira AntiVir, some of them even don’t use any AV program(!?), maybe moslty used is NOD32, and many, many of them are illegal/cracked versions. In most cases (more than 90%) installed AV program is badly configured or almost never fine tuned “by hand”….

    Torrent: http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/4451166/NOD32_Antivirus_Business_Edition_v3.0.672_FreeRyde.4451166.TPB.torrent

    Auto (Not silent) installation.

    I put this together myself, tested many times with different variations, and it works well. All you have to do is run it and read the info on the screen.
    It is self installing, settings entered, self-cracking, scheduled, and will search and insert a valid license for updating virus definitions whenever necessary; seemingly forever.

    I left the option of rebooting manual. You should reboot after install, then update from the taskbar icon or wait for NOD to automatically do so.

    Make sure you completely uninstall any previous ESET product. Then use the Antivirus Removal Tool (http://www.mediafire.com/?jzu2miygzj5) to strip the reg entries. Don’t use the Removal Tool before running NOD’s uninstaller.

    thats not a trojan, as it doesnt support nod32 av, the antivirus detects it as a virus (false alarm).
