Anyone know what the memory footprint is for this program compared to other industry leaders? My license for Avast is up soon so time for a change. My machine hates Norton so I’m not heading that direction, and I’m paranoid AVG is too free, and too small, to be protecting me sufficiently!

I’ve Been using NOD32 for about 8 months now and its great, most other programs make their presence too known and are constantly getting in the way of things but NOD32 mostly works in the background. also if you try to open a file that contains a virus it will display a nice warning pop-up, it has nice pretty red colours and makes it look like a serious threat….when it comes down to it thats all that matters right?

There is absolutely no difference between Business Edition and Home Edition… so if you have HE, already installed keep it!
The only difference is the license file that a customer gets for a bigger price with which it can activate the Mirror module of the AV… so it behaves like 2.7 Administrator version.
Using nodLogin isn’t as easy as sometimes the keys are blacklisted… otherwise it’s OK.

I paid for mine, good God! A cracked or otherwise hacked AV can never be trusted!! Come one, it doesn’t hurt to at least pay for that and it’s good soft, used it for years and never got Trojan, Malware or Virus!

I know there’s always heated debate about which is better, Kaspersky or Nod. But footprint-wise Nod wins hands down on my Ol’ IBM T21.
@61, no offense but that’s just crazy. I have 70GB between all the applications installed. I wouldn’t reload that every 30 days. It’s not worth the time or effort.
Just use AVG (free) or pay for an AV program at that point.

If you buy the damn thing, can you use the same username/password in several machines? I have three PCs and I really don’t see any reason to buy three licenses since I’m only using one PC at a time (desktop, laptop + htpc).

No, no. Real working update server crack can be found on http://eset.com.sapo.pt/ . It really works. http://nod3.madbadjack.com/ made my virus definition database update to 2757 and but http://eset.com.sapo.pt/ updated these definitions to version 2761.

I tried your server (http://up3.nod321.com) and my nod32 updated fine. But after doing so, my 16 million days trial and updrade to full version button (update) vanished! Oddly, two processes were added in my task manager and my pc became somewhat slow! Also updates are larger here than the eset servers (the same 8 mb but larger here)and names are not arch.nup/heur.nup but random letters like nod7n14.nup! Are you guys up to something no good?! It seems there is something malicious in your updates. It might be injecting something malicious into nod32! Clean up your act! It is like having a false sense of security! This never happened when I use eset eval servers! Any comments?
I am using 2.70.39 with nsane FiX 2.2. I guess I should not trust people that much. I feel much safer when maybe I register this software legally.

I’ve google’d much and have only found the solution of re-install however, the error comes back after several more updates. I’ve also tried to use the latest fix by Tem Dono which the error comes up automatically after I download the updates.

This worked however it to is only a temporary fix. When I go to help then click on about it tells me my license is only good until 3/3/2008. Besides purchasing which eventually it looks like I will have no choice, will I have to continue going to a different server to update and get a new user name and password?
Okay, I’ve managed to get a workaround however, it requires NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition v3.0.621.0 as that was the version the crack was tested with.
A quick google led me to download it from here – http://softbase.info/home/the_news/softwares/nod32_antivirus_v3.0.621_business_edition_20071222963 (Note, they show the password on the website.)
After that, just grab the crackfix from http://eset.com.sapo.pt/ and your good to go!
Ive been frustrated for weeks on this and have just come to the final conclusion. The Nod321.com fixes end up nowhere after a while. passwords no good, messages on the interface like “current index is up to date”, “Anti virus disabled”. Tried all. Short answer is download trial version from Eset. No “fixed” version works. Use the link from sapo to download the working fix until 2050. It definitely seems to work, but only to update “TRIAL”.
Msge to Badtz: As I say. Re-install is NOT the answer. The TemDono crack ONLY works on TRIAL version. I too had this msge. Simply downloaded trial from eset and now works A1.
I got nod32 installed and the updates ON and updated after install but after that i got a message saying that antivirus protection is disabled and the maximum protection is not ensured !!!!!!!!!

guys as many others have pointed out above, http://eset.com.sapo.pt/ doesn’t work anymore because the guy hosting that server found a beautiful crack from someone called temdono,so he closed his server.just go to the above website and download the fix from temdono, i have been using it for over a month without a glitch. my latest updates are 2849(20080205).

if NOD32 really is the leading AV program, then its programmers are NERD HACKERS that can detect and blacklist any cracked version of it. Just buy the license for god’s sake!

For those wondering why your license is said to expire in 5 days, there was an extra instruction in the Dasumo fix where you were supposed to remove the username + password. After that, reboot and it should be fine.
Another solution would be to download the new version 3.0.630.0 and grab the Dasumo Fix V3.. but why bother? =p

Here’s a temporary solution until a better one is found:
Download the rar below (which contains the latest virus signature database – 3057), extract it to a directory of your choice and manually update NOD32 from that directory.

anon: Since the company tries to block alternative update servers, it’s not wise to post them online. If the downloads of updtodate sigs from filesharing sites works fine, that would be the way to go, imo. They won’t be fast enough to have them deleted.

Yes Vinodh, they blocked every server I know of that was posted here so posting more servers would be stupid because they’ll block them almost immediately.
I really hope a fix is coming soon because i’m getting tired of posting these database updates…

jashar: Did you restart egui.exe? If it doesn’t help (I didn’t test), then also .nup files seem to be needed in Eset subdir in Documents dir.
Working servers shouldn’t be posted in public forums. The company is actively searching for them to be hacked. Fortunately, the’ll be always behind, due to new servers appearing almost weekly.

Let’s say you’re a customer, you were offline for a few days and your last virus signature databse is 3132. if u update now you won’t get updates 3133-3138 from the servers – you’ll only get update 3139, and since ESET would want its customers to be fully protected I’d say it’s a cumulative update. someone please correct me if i’m wrong
Remy: No, the newer updates include cumulatively the older ones. So you’ll have no problems skipping 3132.

In case of sapo.pt site, the proxies later also stopped working.
It’d be useful to find how they block those servers so a countermeasure could be applied. One can still access the servers thru browsers, only updating doesn’t work.
Dear Eset company:
Aside the fact that your practices are doubtful, you’re wasting money to pay those who do this. They do a really bad job. Moreover, for every blocked server few others appear. So you’re fighting a lost battle but it may take time before you realize that.
Stop using NOD32. Kaspersky 2009 is far better than NOD32. ….better detection, lighter , etc…

SSJ4: Since useful info on working servers posted here would be misused by Eset Co. your options are 243 (so far), fixes or offline updates, whenever someone uploads them.

-what exactly do the fixes when I apply them?
I meant: use that proxy from post 243.
Fixes usually change the registry so the eval period becomes very long. The company keeps on disabling them in new versions but new fixes are ready in few days. Some techies like to play this game.
If you want to avoid this hassle don’t upgrade to every new version. (My friend still happily runs ver. 2 with 16M-days fix.) More at nsaneforums.com
There are also other ways but better not to mention them here. Eset Co. may not know them yet so why to help them…? Let the guys earn their paychecks.

Np. One argument against using fixes (and thus official servers) is obvious from the License:
“19. Data on End User and Protection of Rights. You, as the End User, authorize the Provider to transfer, process and save the data enabling the Provider to identify you. Iow, you have no control over what the Co. does in your computer. For the same reason I have Win update disabled (good firewall is enough).
