The CD includes a BONUS disc of Erin McKeown performing the entire album SOLO acoustic. NPR announced MANIFRESTRA album with November 19 MP3 premiere of The Jailer. Musician, writer, and producer Erin McKeown announces MANIFESTRA, her 7th studio album and second on her own label TVP Records. Long held separate, McKeown’s personal and political passions merge in the instrumentation that defines the album. Saxophones double guitars. Vintage synths merge with strings as keyboards mirror vocal lines. Loops and live drums unite to push songs forward. This focus on unison drives such deeply resonant tunes as the lushly orchestrated “Proof,” which will be accompanied by the first-ever music video of McKeown s career (video debut: Jan 2013). The 1st single, “The Jailer,” is an upbeat, percussive number whose bright horns and melodic vocals belie the serious undercurrent of border politics. The word manifestra just came to me. It describes a statement of purpose and unity, a clear action from a female perspective, a bright hope. McKeown says. Special guests include anais mitchell, sean hayes, david wax museum, ryan montbleau, and UK songstress polly paulusma. The album closes with “baghdad to the bayou” a song written by text with friend rachel maddow.
