Enough April Fools’ jokes + the 2009 list
As most of you noticed, RLSLOG has been kind of upside down, or to be more exact, right to left. Of course this was a small April Fool’s joke. We had prepared something much bigger but it failed at the very last second because of someone else who was involved.
Anyway, I believe you enjoyed enough of right-to-left reading so I switched the design back to original. To have some more fun, I compiled this list of nice pranks created by other websites.
April Fool’s Day list:
- YouTube – completely reverted site including videos. If you remove flip=1 from URL, it goes back to normal design.
- Njection – BBC to stream Top Gun for free on Hulu
- Smashing Magazine – Internet Explorer 8.1 code name “Eagle Eyes” released
- Google gBall – football ball with built-in GPS module and motion sensor
- ThePirateBay – Warner Bros bought Pirate Bay
- Guardian – British newspaper stops print version and conitnues only on Twitter
- Woot – bag of crap for $3 and $1,000,000 shipping
- Gmail – new Auto-response feature
- Reddit – new “Digg-like” design, renamed to Reddigg
- BBC – Earth population exceeds limits
- KegWorks – Insta-beer – just add water
- Sitepoint – internet reboots today at 11.59 UTC

Youtube is crazy right now!
And don't forget what EZTV.it did…
Their site is now a sports-channel…
The Facebook relatives application told me that Barack Obama added me as a relative, 4th cousin once removed LOL
The BBC one isn't an april fools joke.
The BBC iPlayer Toaster is a classic:

I liked : http://www.qualcomm.com/innovation/convergence.html
Actually that day I was messing around with my computer's settings and I was wondering what could possibly place text right to left…..
& don't forget Scene Source's "this site has been permanently shut down by the FBI" announcement (",)
http://explore.toshiba.com/petbook
this one is good

@4 That would be because the original poster has the IQ of a fencepost
)
The worst was eztv.it as noticed before. You couldn't download many series today becaus they made into a sportschannel and it still is mainnnn
I like the ones in the comments section in most of the rlslog posts,
the links which are supposed to be the real rapidshare links.
Introducing Face Gestures in Opera Browser!
http://labs.opera.com/news/2009/04/01/
Uh, the BBC article in the OP isn't a joke…
LOL @ Martin
'wat' and 'Roaddhogg' are correct. BBC's "Earth population 'exceeds limits'" is not april fools', that is actually happening on this planet you're living on :p
Also global warming is not a USA conspiracy theory in case someone is still wondering about that one.
Heres a good prank we get fooled daily on "Global Warming" lol
So the Wolverine workprint posts weren't april fools jokes?
http://www.ytmnd.com/ is now dogchan
Well, I guess the journalist credited with writing the Guardian article – Rio Palof (Apri[l] Fool, just missing an L) – is a give away.
Opera Face Gestures prank is the best. That part with "Adult Web sites" is great.
COMPLETE BUNCH OF DIVVIES.
ITS APRIL FOOLS DAY
ALL BEEN TAKEN FOR SUCKERS

enjoy!
At Gmail:
"What happens if a sender and recipient both have Autopilot on?
Two Gmail accounts can happily converse with each other for up to three messages each. Beyond that, our experiments have shown a significant decline in the quality ranking of Autopilot's responses and further messages may commit you to dinner parties or baby namings in which you have no interest."
The best.
The BBC one is from 31 March.
Doh
was that a joke from Martin?
:p
oooo… so that's why when i checked on youtube the video upside down, i thought my computer have a problem, damn! youtube got me
try to look videos at xfire
The game, World Of Warcraft (WoW), with a particular mod active caused it to play a wave file, that made it sound like the old analogue modem dial up connection, which got my young brother worried and checking his PC, although I knew it could not be dial up as there was no hardware in it capable of making the noise, other than the sound card.
Anyway, after I explained it to him, he spent time on the forums until he discovered other users had the same issue and what had caused it.
my favourite of the april fools prank of this year was on a midmorning talk show in the UK hosted by lorraine kelly. For those who don't know the show its geared mostly towards bored housewives and as such dedicates much of its airtime to all manner of absurd weight-loss and cosmetic products.
Thankfully when april fools day comes around they tend to do something witty and refreshingly ironic; last year's one was even described as cruel, making it all the more delicious in my eyes. This year's was no exception, check it out here:

Quake live are taking the piss out of WoW: http://www.quaklive.com

Sorry Guido, the joke is on you. You can take every person alive today and fit them in the US with room to spare according to the WHO, so it will be quite a LOOONNNGGG time before we run out of room on this earth. And as for Global Warming…puh-leaze. Even the ICCC has stated that last year was the COLDEST year in over 50 years and the trend of cooler years does not have an end for the forseen future. Or that the Glaciers have thickened all over the world and especially in the poles. Or that the people that believe in this global warming myth seem to have had a homer simpson moment…when they found a chunk of ice that is three times larger the the entire state of California just sitting there because on of the sensors they use that they tried to tell us the ice in the poles was melting…had malfunctioned. Or that according to NASA and NOAA, the polar ice caps have not only returned to previous frozen states, BUT they have GROWN by almost 35%. This has been documented by NOAA-NASA-International Commission on Climate Change (UN's body) over 70,000 climatologists, Nature Magazine-Newsweek-NY Times-London Times-BBC-CNN-Pravda-AP-UPI and a host of other people and news orgs, only a person with nothing else to believe in would still insist this myth is real. I mean just this week they finally admitted the new "earth friendly" lights they wanted to force us to use, actually are not as they have mercury in them and if they break or blow; the US EPA has a very LONG list of what you MUST do as you cannot just toss them in the dustbin…not without a 25,000 dollar (17,000 pound) fine for placing hazmat waste in a public refuse site. SO get out of your kiddie jammies and get dressed and join the rest of us in reality
Funny that the site never changed for me… looked the same as always
i didnt see a thing T . T
i was out all day
@38
Completely wrong. Everyone alive today would have to take on the lifestyle of an average citizen from Guatemala or Nigeria for current populations to be sustained. Suggesting that 'fitting everyone in' is the problem is utterly absurd and makes you look like an idiot.

@41
You didn't read the whole of #38's post.
It was #16 that claimed the world was overpopulated.
#38 refuted that claim.
I like most of these, but some are a bit too tame!

The only "idiot" I see here (other then @16 that is) is you for opening your mouth and spewing nonsense before reading the post. Next time, read first, post after
@38 Common Sense
OffT a bit.
If I'm not mistaken, global warming is basically removing spring and fall leaving only the two extremes, summer and winter, although this will not be noticed significantly for many a year. In the years to come I expect to see very hot summers, and very cold winters.
Asides from that, we have a long time before we will reach severe overpopulation.
OT – Although an April fools joke, Google Autopilot would be pretty sweet.
