Empire Total War Special Forces Edition-Razor1911

YAY, here is another game that i have been waiting for and im sure many of you have aswell, Empire Total War thanks to Razor1911. The game focuses on the era period between the 1700s and 1800s. The game follows a similar style of play as earlier Total War titles: players choose a contemporary faction and set out to ensure their faction’s domination over the known world.

Empire: Total War maintains the series’ genre-leading 3D battles, grand turn-based campaign map and rich historical flavor while for the first time introducing 3D naval combat into the series. The game is set in the 18th century, a turbulent era alive with global conflict, revolutionary fervour and technological advances. Empire: Total War sees the debut of 3D naval combat — gamers will be able to intuitively command vast fleets or single ships upon seascapes rich with extraordinary water and weather effects that play a huge role in your eventual glorious success or ignominious defeat. After pummelling your enemy with cannon fire, close in to grapple their ship and prepare to board taking control your men as they fight hand to hand on the decks.

General Features

  • The revolutionary introduction of Naval Combat to the Total War franchise
  • Enhancements to the Total War series’ signature 3D battles and turn based campaign map.
  • Realtime battles pose new challenges with the addition of cannon and musket, challenging players to master new formations and tactics as a result of the increasing role of gunpowder within warfare
  • New improvements for the Campaign Map — new and improved systems for Trade, Diplomacy and Espionage with agents, a refined and streamlined UI, improved Advisors and extended scope taking in the riches of India, the turbulence of Europe and the untapped potential of North America

    @ Poison:

Your guide misses the episodic_1.rar installations that seems to fix the problem with Quebec.

In addition it looks like you also forgot the scripting.lua fix on the episodic_3 folder.

I haven't tried these missions yet but I will reply as soon as I play them.

Yesterday I found a version of this on demonoid where the iso's had already been extracted. When I woke this morning the torrent was no longer there and my download was stuck at 99.5%. I really don't want to redownload the entire 12 gigs. Could someone please post a link to somewhere that has the files already extracted.

    @425

I was DL'ing the same torrent also. I'm stuck at 99.5% too and need the same files. Any idea why the torrent got taken down?

From what I've read from the readme file, its the same razor1911 release, with the 819mb sounds fix as far as I can see…

Can someone please release a comprehensive .nfo file which will have exactly step by step instructions of what needs to be done.

I'm never downloading from razor again….they do all the hard work and then they cant spend 5 min to write a simple .nfo file…..c'mon…if you're going to do something then do it right…or dont do it at all…

PS. Can you please put the .nfo file in a .rar with all the rest of the things that need to be downloaded and then that can be considered as the proper RE-Pack.

    Cheers and thanks a lot

I am able to start the game, but it freezes at the splash screen before any intro movies or anything. The game just goes up to 80% CPU usage and 450,000 K of RAM without doing anything. I have copied all cracks and the sound fix, I don't quite know what the problem is. I'm on Windows XP SP 3.

Right now it is saying 2,000 UP…I had to restart because I literally had like 8 million in my treasury before i even completed episode 2…I wonder how to fix this.

    THIS RELEASE SUCKS.

  25. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 20:29

I can now confirm the pathfinding.esf file in the global_map folder and the startpos.esf files in the main and main_2 (I'm guessing those are the short and long versions?) folders from the original razor crack fix the issue I had with the inflated trade values (the lua files in those folders were exactly the same as the lua files in the installation. Redundancy in a sloppy release, surprise surprise). This is contrary to the idea given by Poison awhile back that none of those files from the crack were needed.

This seems to fix trade inflation for the path to independence episodes as well, with the episodic 1 file being an exception that seems to crash my game (then again episode 1 is such a friggin tutorial anyways, who cares if you get free money).

I'm thinking the issues with the Path to Independence campaigns came about from the .lua file scripts that razor provided. I have replaced the pathfinding.esf and startpos.esf with their razor counterparts (and not the .lua files). I used the deletion of the slash/dashes methods mentioned in post 354 and montreal/quebec do appear. Remember there's a set of dash/brackets, a –[[ and a ]]–. And there are two of these sets, delete the ones near the text mentioned in post 354. Though it seems I get the quests for the two forts twice now, but the map does reveal them.

Right now I don't care enough to test the PtI campaign any further. I've played enough games about american independence anyways, I'm just happy to get the grand campaign working again. I still don't know why my game always crashes when I choose to quit though. If anyone can help me with that, thanks. (and thanks again nrvana for uploading those files!)

  26. Ben
    March 7th, 2009 | 20:35

    392. Possible Quebec fix!

When replacing only those two files you have stated, the screen will start loading for the game, but then will go white, and give you this error!

Following poision's guide on http://pastebin.com/f6e4bc623, I have passed the first battle of Road to Independence.

But I still do not have gun-shot sound etc. And now I am stuck at another place. I captured Louisborg, it gives me two missions. To capture Quebec and Montreal. But they do not show in the map.

    Any idea? Thanks.

    March 7th, 2009 | 20:54

I downloaded this soundfix and it has 790mb, is this the real deal, as someone has said that this file is 820mb large?

  29. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 20:59

sfx remember there are two systems for the size of a megabyte. The one I have (with gunshots) show as 819140 kb in windows explorer.

Fred C read post 354. Worked for me anyhow. Remember to delete both the –[[ and ]]– and the right two (there's two sets of them).

    444.

Can you put into detail how exactly you got to get Quebec and Montreal to appear. I have tried numerous ways and find nothing to work.

Which files did you and did you not replace?

  32. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:04

That should read with two dashes in my previous post, dunno what happened to them.

By the way, it seems some of the save files are not mutually compatible with changing out the files. Try starting a new game if it won't load.

I've uploaded an archive of my mixed files for the campaign and campaign_maps foldersif anyone wants to try them and see if they fix your crashing and/or montreal/quebec problems Obviously back up whatever files you have before trying these:

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/bstsjb

  33. Ben
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:07

Aleph, I am downloading your file,

So I just replace all the files in my folder with the ones you have put in the rar.

  34. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:09

That should work. Remember you'll probably need to start episode 2 again (sorry, can't help you there…). I do stress backing up those folders before trying mine (I can't guarantee this will work 100% and if you have the room for this game, a few hundred extra megabytes shouldn't be a big deal).

As my game works now I'm going to go play it for quite some time. I hope my files helped.

  35. Fred C

For those of you (like me) that can´t get even to the splash screen I found out that the razor boot.pak file is the culprit. Erase this file or leave the original one and it works (so far).

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK WITH LAN PLAY? I WANNA GET THIS GOING ON MY 2nd PC and play LAN – ANY HELP?

  38. Ben
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:24

Aleph, did you add the modified boot.pack, patch.pack, and patch_en.pack from razors original right? What about the config folder with master servers? And the 4 UI files?

Quebec and Montreal did not stay visible, after I had started a new campaign. Plus I was not able to control my taxes.

  39. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:31

I used the modified crack files from Poisons website mentioned earlier. As far as I can guess, they use the same boot and all that other pack files (maybe I'm wrong?). Yes I used that config folder and the ui folder as well (though as far as I can tell those are the same files as the install files).

Ben at a certain point I have to suspect you have a failed installation or something (I've personally had to reinstall more times than I can count on my hands). I find modifying the setup.dat file mentioned earlier helps well.

I have been trying to get this set up for a friend to install as well, I guess I could upload an archive for everything that should be theoretically ready to copy paste over a fresh install (as well as that setup.dat) and work including the sound file, but that one gig unzipped. I could upload that, but it will take awhile if you want to try that…

  40. Argh
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:37

Another day, another wasted few hours trying to do anything conceivable to get setup.dat working.

Is there any chance someone could upload their setup.dat somewhere? Maybe mine is just corrupted.

  41. nrvana
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:37

  42. Ben
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:39

AS I type this I have already got the re-installation process going. I as well have tried multiple installations. I would say around 8 times. Which post number speaks of modifying the setup.dat file?

  43. nrvana
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:41

also i saw there is a miles folder in normal setup but i don't have it.Which files does it contain?

  44. nrvana

i need installscript.vdf . can someone upload it please?

  45. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:46

nrvana, here's a screenshot of the files I have when I start the setup.exe:

    http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/8996/whatihave.jpg

Ben the post was 254. I didn't follow it exactly, I just noticed that when I opened my setup.dat there were these temp folder or something (sorry I can't remember exactly what) words typed into the lines in the aforementioned post right below the point where it says "empire.exe" in post 254 and deleted those so it looked like the lines he posted.

  46. nrvana
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:49

aleph the image is banned it says also can u please ss the data ,miles and redist folders?

  47. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 21:56

Wow imageshack is a pain in the ass. Sorry, I've never done this sort of thing so I didn't realize it would do that. nrvana are you sure you extracted the files from the dvd correctly then? Nothing should be missing from the razor dvd install files for the installation anyhow (well it doesn't seem to create an exe file for me, but w/e).

After thinking it over I've made another archive with the files I mentioned before minus the sound file (you should be able to find it if you can read and use google). The setup.dat should work with the install and the other files should be copied over where you installed the game to.

This should work with a clean working install. If that doesn't work, then I'm sorry, I can't figure out what else is wrong >_>. This was sloppy release.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LAPO5A53

  48. jo
    March 7th, 2009 | 22:12

why is everybody saying it was a sloppy release? he wrote an installer to unencrypt those damn steam files with a simple push a button solution..i am still stuck for fear 2 that i can't even install unless i get the DIE version.

Why are some users missing dll's…maybe the download were modified by some a holes so that people get half the files now…

as far as bugs in mission it is probably deliberate by the devs to delay piracy of their game..

i don't think it is a sloppy release if the razor group release with what they had to work with originally…all the gripe about them maybe on reason why they have not reissued anything to help anyone any further…think about this for a second before crying about this…plus you's all getting it for free..so you do not have the right to complain..

    nuff said!

  49. nrvana
    March 7th, 2009 | 22:16

i really dont know mate i made the setup million times but always i lack some of dll files don't know whats the problem about it

  50. aleph0knot
    March 7th, 2009 | 22:28

Well to me it seems sloppy since for some reason it doesn't install the right sound file and there are redundant files in the original crack. Also some of the original crack files (which I extract from the dvd) seem to cause people trouble as well. Finally I've never had a game I had to extract from the dvd to install before until now.

The right to complain is a bit different from the right to demand anything of them I'd say -P. Otherwise I'd be spamming forums about how it doesn't work instead of trying to figure out how to get it working. And before you get me started, it's not just Razor I have beef with. CA gets some of the blame too (I still remember barbarians that would just run around my walls getting shot to death by arrows instead of ever attacking), heh.

Fixing Quebec + Montreal Fog of War problem, after Louisburg Battle.

    Thanks aleph.

I first did a complete reinstall. Or you could just replace all those pesky files. Either way make sure you have all orignal.

Download this crack fix. Replace orignal files with these.
    http://www.2shared.com/file/5018580/4f16593c/Razor1911edited.html

Then replace all the orignal files with the ones found at this link.

I've now given up on getting my sounds to work but I did want to mention. When I first installed (not the proper install) and used the demo soundpack, I could actually hear some sounds. But I deleted the game to do a fresh install when the proper cracks/soundpacks came out. After that the sounds have stopped working, including the demo ones. Just wanted to say that incase anyone knows why that happened.

    March 8th, 2009 | 02:34

…argh that sucks Ben. I've been playing the Grand Campaign so I didn't know. Hmm…you could try going back to all the normal files from the install for the episodic folders (not the main main_2 and global_map folders), the website Poison linked to has a link for the original install files. The scripting.lua for episodic_3 is the main thing that fixes the fog of war (and I get two mission cards too). That might get you to the next chapter.

Problem is the original install files has those inflated trade values, so the game feels too easy when you're making 10-100x trade profit (wish I had a real copy to look at here lol). Don't know how to help you at this point, sorry, I just wanted my grand campaign working again tbh -O.

nrvana here are the miles files since it was only some 50kb or something. I'm starting to think your installation lacked everything though, that 15 gb redownload might not be out of the question if you're still missing stuff lol

    3-install this game

I have no problems playing the independence campaign whatsoever…I installed the razor release, replaced the razor cracked files with the edited ones, copied in the 819mb version of the sound sfx file and finally replaced the cracked episodic 1 file with the original one. I never had the fog of war issue and episode 3 loaded after taking a bit longer than usual… There are some CTDs in Independence still, but no more CTDs in grand campaign.

As for the install, I extracted the iso files prior to running the installer and let it grab the needed files from the extracted isos. No missing dll files for me.

To continue unpacking, file 'empire total war_disk3_0.sid' is required from disc 3

    e:0c~11temp~1\empire total war_disk3_0.sid

since there is no Disc3 the game doesnt install properly

ive already tried every hint in the last 5 pages im downlading the 8 Gb version now, hoping this will work

@ 501 you dont seem to get it….., during setup i press more than 3 times cancel because the installer tries to find "total war_disk3_0.sid' " THERE IS NO DISK 3 NOWHERE AND THERE IS NO ANSWER ABOUT IT SO FAR

setup continues after i press 3 or more cancels but it is obvious that it is incomplete…

can you seed the 11GB razor one some more please

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4750077/Empire_Total_War_Special_Forces_Edition-Razor1911.iso that one. I'm stuck at 40.2%. Or are you only seeding the 8GB one now?

what time are you normally seeding between?

@ 492 – Thanks Solid for letting me have patience lol.

Which files have to do with the trade money being so high? It seems that when trying to get episode 3 to work, I replaced the fixed money issue.

Does anyone else have a problem at the end of Episode 3, After you beat the episode, it will play the movie clip and after it has ended it will go to the main menu? You can play episode 4, but you are dirt poor and dont have all the colonies you had before. Is that normal?

Buy the game mothers, mine works just great ;)

    hi..

    March 9th, 2009 | 01:06

for those that are still having trouble with the fog of war on episode 2 when you capture Niagara, I think I found the problem.

If you have the Fort Duquesne mission and the Niagara mission and capture Niagara you complete them both at the same time which prevents the next part from triggering properly.

Simply capture Fort Duquesne before you take Niagara and it should work fine.

I finally got the .exe to run but it shows the splash screen and then crashes. It doesn't give me any error message. Also, my install folder is only 2.76 Gb… Anybody know a fix?

    March 9th, 2009 | 02:55

Ok, with the help from 5 pages of comments here, I got the sound working fine, and I have Quebec and Montreal appeared. Afrer I captured Montreal, Episode 2 was done and I was presented the Battle of Banker Hill. I lost the battle and I got a Crash-To-Desktop.

    Any idea?
