hV once again brings us a real nice BluRay Rip, I wanted to watch this movie at the cinema, but I haven’t had the time yet. Anyways I will definitely get my hands on this release, there is nothing better than a crisp, crystal clear image.

Synopsis: Feature-length version of the documentary TV series “Planet Earth” (2006), following the migration paths of four animal families.

    the movie is 40% material from the 1st ‘planet earth’ episode, 50% from the rest of the series and 10% new material.

    my take – definitely worth the watch. especially in HD.

    I’ve seen Planet Earth and it is defianetly worth the bandwidth it requires. And 24Gb’s just isnt too bad nowdays?

    It’s ashame that the ircbot sending those files (at staggering 370kb/s! beats the crap out of publictrackers leech) is now offline.

    this is just a compilation of each of the 11 planet earth mini-documentaries. it is worth it to watch both this and them. most of the footage from this is from the pole to pole episode of planet earth and very small bits and pieces from the other 10 episodes.

    I shoot all my stuff on 720p-1080p and I love it. I can´t wait till I can afford one of those 2K cameras, it´s gonna be solid, the RED records up to 4K, it´s too much for your brain to handle, lol:p – and to think we´re so used to DVD SD quality!:p – anyway, does anyone know if you can view these HD rips on your laptop, or do you need to burn them and watch them on your Stand-Alone Blueray player?

    I bought the series on Blu-ray. It’s the best value for money. It’s an incredibly interesting series, stunning and intense to look at and the best showcase for your HD setup you could wish for.

    It’s a rip of a Blu-Ray disc, and obviously it’s not 720p on the actual disc. Meaning, it’s a recompression of the VC1 or AVC encoding that should play on any [decent] computer.

    I want a 4k projector. Working in RAW on the Red sounds expensive.

    Thnx for the info, so you´re saying VLC and such should handle the compression of this (these) files? Do you know what the container (file-extension) after unpacking will be? (Mov / mkv etc?). Yeah, I would love to view things in 4K but have yet to see it, for now, a RED with 4K possibilities seem like a dream, but I am saving for it. If you think about the costs of the lab process (developing, grading etc etc) – you actually save a lot of money shooting digital, so the expenses shooting and working with the RAW format is actually not that bad in comparison…:D

    i suggest using the combined community codec pack- best HD codec pack available afaik. http://www.cccp-project.net/

    Where can you get this series in 1080p? We have all the 720p versions available on my unversity’s DC++ network, but i want to put the 1080 versions.

    I just bought the entire series on BluRay. It’s excellent!! I’d definitely recommend seeing the series as apposed to this condensed version.

    some reason this doesnt play every well on my cpu and i have a pretty high end system and video card, just wondering if anyone else is having any issues with the codec or if its just me, thanks.

    yeah i am having some problems with this it is very jumpy while playing with vlc player my pc is fairly good too and usually plays any other hd films i have downloaded. any ideas???????????

    I have the same probs like U.Very good pc and it´s jumpy. 2 bad it took very long time to download! But it´s free so no complain hope a better version will come out soon??

    i played it with media player classic and it seemed to smooth it out a bit but not totally. it was still watchable. i love watching anything like this on HD, anything with scenery in it always looks sooo good its looks like it’s 3D sometimes

    Try installing the newest CoreAVC codec. Combined with a free player like GOM player (only uncheck the h264 codec in GOM, allowing the external CoreAVC to be used) and everything will run smooth on a lower end computer (like 3 Ghz p4)

    Edit: tried with zoomplayer+(ffdshow and coreAVC), what a good picture!!!! Found that coreAVC gave 100% smooth and 100% picture quality. The best doc I´ve seen for long time!
    Off topic but helpfull for all .mkv fans.
    Also tried the Live Free Or Die Hard 2007 1080p BluRay DTS x264-hV sample with this config and it Rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
