EA unveils details about Godfather 2
Electronic Arts is once again hoping to profit from Mario Puzo’s mafioso drama with a sequel to their surprisingly competent Godfather game, cleverly dubbed Godfather 2. The new entry in the series, scheduled for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms in February of 2009, sees the story expand to include criminal operations in Cuba, Florida and Godfather mainstay New York City.
Key to this new crime empire is the customized crew system. “Each family member specializes in a specific field such as demolitions, arson, engineering, first-aid and more. As The Don you control the family, sending some of your men on missions while heading off into action with others,” the official press release explains. Players will once again roam open-world environments as the newly appointed Don of New York. In keeping with the new position of leadership, players will handle strategic organizational aspects of the mob, like establishing and maintaining criminal endeavors and creating a stable of Made Men.

The first game was ok, but I loved the shop keeper bullying mode. I hope they make it more brutal. It was fun beat up shopkeepers and throw them out windows.

Mafia was the benchmark for all mafia games. It was just so good.
Now Mafia 2 is coming out, lets hope that that is the new benchmark.
Godfather is the only Xbox 360 game I have played and believed to be sh^t so far. Its just… well, crap in every way!

Noone here is comparing it or putting it up against GTA4. Mafia is the benchmark this genre has to beat, and the first Godfather game fell well short.
My guess is the second helping will also fail in comparison with Mafia 2, although I’m just going on the very little info that’s been released on either and screenshots.
Time will tell, but again, why would you compare it to GTA4?

The Godfather was something to tide me over till GTA4. The story was great, as were the character and create your own player and such, but the driving was awful, the city was repetitive, too large, and bland, and overall it wasn’t all that fun (although, I did play for many many hours since it was still alright). I did however love the expand your empire parts of the game, including bullying shop keepers and taking over hostile territory. I hope more ‘mob’ themed games incorporate those elements. And if Godfather 2 is a little more varied and exciting than the first, then I’ll definitely check it out.
Just hope there isn’t a part III , lol, but anyways, didn’t like the first one, as the previous poster said, mafia is and still is a great game, mafia 2 is the one to watch for.

Nah, Mafia 2 will be much better. Try instead Mafia 1, it’s few years old, but very solid. Reviews speak for themselves.

i personally liked the Godfather game, not as much as mafia but still pretty decent
mafia is a lot better than this game.. i’m not saying this coz i hate godfather, infact, i love the movie trilogy… but the gameplay, especially the story.. mafia is the best (gangster) game of all time… waiting for mafia 2…
