    anyone know if the discs made will play over an hdmi cable at Hd resolutions? (720p)? Or does this matter more with the type of dvd player. Thanks all, for not flaming.

    @5
    First you need Winrar (rarlabs.com) to unpack the dvdfab app.
    Open the .nfo file with notepad to see if there are any special install instructions
    Then install the app as you would any other app.

    Hope this helps.

    Oh, btw.
    DVDFab rules. soooo much better than anything i’ve ever tried (and thats quite a few)
    Consider buying this app to support the devs.

    If if doesnt support it this week just wait. DVDFAB will have another update next week.
    They release a new version every damn week.
    I think that the coders do it just to justify their jobs!
    lol, they must have the longest list of releases in the software world.

    Have a question for you guys, what settings do you have this program set on for the “encoding”… Do you mostly use “High Quality/slow encoding?

    Thanks.

  30. Netranger
    March 4th, 2008 | 13:21

    #10 bmad ConvertX2DVD is a while different program. Convertx2DVD is for when you download avi, exc. movies and then convert them to DVD.
    DVDFabPlatinum is a program to use when you get a rental DVD and want to break the encryption and copy it. I use both of the programs all the time. They are the best.

  31. las84
    March 4th, 2008 | 14:00

    Yes, High Quality/slow encoding is the best option if you want real quality dvd output.

    Arg, tried it, and it seems dvdfab automatically interlace the video !!!! Is there a way to make it do a progressive scan and not interlaced ? If not, I must say it sucks pretty badly ;(.

    March 4th, 2008 | 15:12

    I installed the last release of DVDFab Platinum and now for some reason the program will not read burned dvd’s that I burned using DVDFab. Anyone know why?

  36. KILLERNUTTZ
    March 4th, 2008 | 15:16

    DVDFAB is the best app. for making perfect copys of copy protected dvds.

    Convertxtodvd is the best app. for making a dvd out of your video files.

    Dvdshrink is the best app. for taking specific information off of copy protected dvds (like only the main title). It also does an excellent job of making perfect copys of dvds as well.
    Dvdfab will do all the same things dvdshrink can do, except dvdfab has more option to mess around with.(Which can cause you to mess something up!)

    One last thing, always use Nero to burn!

  37. Vinnie
    March 4th, 2008 | 16:06

    @32, COMPLETELY AGREE!

    DVD Fab and ConvertX are the 2 best apps in the respected feilds, i’ve been using them both for around 2 years now. DVD Fab can actually even read discs that have been damaged, dirty and what not, given that it takes its time, but still you can restore any of those old dvd’s you have…or borrowed…:D

  39. grimpr
    March 4th, 2008 | 16:36

    DVDFab is great but doesnt come close quality/speed wise to DVD2One, DVD2One transcodes fast with better image quality than DVDFab. I mainly use DVDFab as a reliable reader and decrypter and then process the DVD’s with DVD2One for movies with compression ratio above 70% and DVDShrink w/ Deep Analysis & EAC Max Smoothness for movies with compression ratio below 70%, then burn with Imgburn @ 4x at DVD-R media on a Pioneer drive. Fantastic results,no coasters,maximum compatibility.

  40. Loachdriver
    March 4th, 2008 | 16:51

    ? #41 grimpr:
    You’re saying use Fab to crack encryption & install a file on HD which is then processed by DVD2One?

  41. grimpr
    March 4th, 2008 | 17:22

    @42

    Exactly,i rip the whole movie @DVD9 as .iso file on hard disk with DVDFab,then mount with Daemon Tools and continue the process. I switched from AnyDVD to DVDFab as reader/decrypter because its far more reliable reader on damaged or old dvd-video discs and more speedy as well.

  42. grimpr
    March 4th, 2008 | 17:52

    @42

    I was mistakenly wrong about the method of ripping to hard disk, the correct method is…rip @dvd9,full movie,files at hard disk,if movie is >= 70% compression ratio,transcode with DVD2One, if movie is < 70% compression ratio, transcode with DVDShink w/ Deep Analysis & EAC Max Smoothnes or Sharpness, finally burn on DVD-R media at 4x using Imgburn.

  45. EASY FIX
    March 4th, 2008 | 20:38

    Just try using dvdrebuilder pro with cce, its the best out there, you can do up to 10 passes and if you want you can run the dvd through clone dvd2 first and remove any unwanted scenes or audio tracks but save your project as a dvd9,then fix any unused buttons with PGC dvd edit and run it through DVD Rebuilder pro using CCE as your encoder with however many passes as you want and BAM, NO QUALITY LOSS ON A 50inch LCD, Try it Good Luck

  46. golfguy
    March 5th, 2008 | 05:04

    grimpr – I regularly use DVD Flick to Burn .avi files to DVD+R (decompresses more than Convertx to DVD) also converts audio mp3 to 5.1 quality. have you tried this program? (convert x has a better Menu system though if you find it beneficial)

  47. grimpr
    March 5th, 2008 | 11:43

    @47

    DVD Rebuilder rocks,but i’ve never seen a true advantage using it compared to DVDShrink /w Deep Analysis & EAC Max, from my tests DVDShrink comes on top in the quality/speed compression of lengthy DVD-Video compared to Rebuilder,great video with less steps and at faster speed than Rebuilder with CCE at 3+ passes. The one thing Rebuilder has and use it from time to time is applying of Avisynth filters which is a godsend for tricky to transcode movies.

    @48

    DVD-Flick is great and free,it uses the opensource ffmpeg engine as ConvertX does,i use Flick for small xvid/divx movies to DVD-Video and TMPGEnc for reencoding quality xvid rips at the maximum MPG2 quality at DVD-Video. The point is use whats best for the situation.

    March 16th, 2008 | 16:13

    @grimper

    Have you tried Anydvd to remove copyright on the fly, and then you can go straight to DVD2One or DVD Shrink compression straight from the original DVD? That way you can skip the whole DVDfab decrypting DVD-9 to the HD .

  53. moviejackal
    March 21st, 2008 | 07:03

    Hi, I downloaded this, it works but I keep getting the trial version. I click to open the crack and it tells me DVDFABPlatinum.exe -Unable to Locate Component This application has failed to start because avcodec.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

    I tried re-installing, I checked my computer and I have avcodec.dll, I even downloaded that codec again and nothing works.

    DVD Rebuilder with CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder) is the best combo for transcoding movies.. Has been for years.

    This is the process I take for ripping a dvd:

    1. Use DVD Shrink to rip the movie with no compression. Usually I do a “re-author” and leave out special features that take up space.
    *If for some reason DVD Shrink can’t rip the DVD because of some fancy protection, I use DVDDecryptor or dvdfab to rip the whole disc to the hard drive. Then use dvd shrink to remove any unwanted content.

    2. Use DVD Rebuilder (setup for CCE) to transcode to fit on a single layer disc.

    3. Burn the transcoded dvd with whatever burning software.. I use Nero in Windows and Toast on Mac OS.

    dvdshrink is no good, dont use that… Someone wrote earlier in this thred: Dvdshrink makes perfect copies of your dvd. Thats a lie, dvdshrink makes horrible copies, the quality is very poor.. Do not use it :-)
