Dugg: you know when you do it right
I don’t really use Digg that often, but it’s a well respected site without any doubts. I guess we could easily get many of our posts on the frontpage with our 200 000 daily visitors and little bit of motivation for digging our content, but I don’t have a reason to do so: Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here and then quickly leaving back to his funny images and dorky videos listed in Top 10. It’s a well known fact that the value of Digg traffic isn’t really high, although it can quickly bring many server to their knees.
However, I was browsing the referer stats today and noticed quite a few people coming from digg.com. That was weird - we weren’t on the frontpage and there weren’t even any articles submitted in last few weeks, neither by me nor by any of our readers. But then I saw it: Digg was offline for more than hour today and it displayed only a simple page with links to various sites, recommended by Digg employees. And here it was: link to Releaselog recommended by someone called Mark L, right next to internet giants as BBC News, Yahoo or Techcrunch. It’s moments like this when you realize you do your job right. Thanks.

Go Release Log, Keep up the good work!
nice work martina and every one els on the RLSLOG STAFF ;D
Sweet! RLSLOG Rules!!
I go to digg every day and then i come here everyday, i like to get my news and randomness from digg and my movies and games from here.
Man, you’ve been on that page for months. Btw, it would be nice to start submitting release nfo to the public.
“Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here and then quickly leaving back to his funny images and dorky videos listed in Top 10.”
you really don’t know your audience very well do you?
get over yourself martin, you big headed pr1ck.
Digg’s average reader actually has a decent clue as to what goes on here, just like anyone that torrents should. Slashdot readers would probably be a bit more familiar, but I think you underestimate Digg and the Digg effect; you can boost your traffic tremendously and hold onto at least 20% of that permanently.
Never heard of it until now, thanks.
Well, i’m a heavy digg user and i still visit your site daily. Nice to see that they posted a link there, considering the fact that there are a lot of “release log” sites around.
Other than that, you can find everything you want only a few min after pre on 0day trkrz
no need 2 pay for ftp access anymore.
Same here as with @4 - congrats! I visit digg 3-5 times a day to see the top 10/20, and visit here 1-10 times a day (or more). Not everyone uses digg for the pics and videos - it is a great source of upcoming news. Generally, if I see it climbing up digg’s charts, it’ll hit the MSM in 1-3 days. Oh, and I understand 95% of what is on here too!
………(okay, 90%)
I have been coming here for a long time (i am sure it has been two years or so), martin and the rest of you guys are certainly doing your jobs right. Congrats for the digg page thing, but whether or not the digg.com employee was doing his job right, linking to rlslog from digg.com is a little contraversial, especially considering that digg.com must be an american run site (i cant be bothered to look it up), i doubt that there will be many such high profile sites linking here for obvious reasons. Keep up the good work boys (and girls?!)
I used digg before I ever used this site. I never had any problems.
And whats wrong with being computer saavy?
Fukayooo
nice!
I’ve been reading digg daily for years and been keeping up with releaselog for about half that long.
You’re completely wrong about digg users. Just look at the comments to any story about piracy or the RIAA/MPAA and you will see that the digg usership is quite familiar with torrents and the like.
Finding this site was great, in the past I had been watching “top torrents from the last day” lists trying to find good new releases. Releaselog does does it for you in a great way. I think many digg users would love this site and tens of thousands would visit it often if you submitted it and it got to the front page. You should post and article with a link to a digg submission, I think you would get more than enough diggs.
didn’t another editor here write an article about this a long time ago..?
Gratz on the making Digg. Now can a brother Get a Job
I saw that and visited a few sites but I didn’t know that this site was listed on there.
this is old news to me, knew this 3 months ago
LOL I’m sure Digg.com was rapt that one of their employees put a link on their temp page to a site which indexes pirated movies, games & software
You need that to feel you the team is doing a great job?!
C’mon, people refreshing every 30 minutes should be enough =)
Digg is a great site, give it more of a chance. It’s more than just silly videos. Or at least it used to be.
way to completely insult the “geeks” who think your cool, lol
“Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here and then quickly leaving back to his funny images and dorky videos listed in Top 10.”
Wrong… Everything.
Digg, Engadget, Facebook, Rlslog, Wired, and some comics are my daily visits.
Hell, Rlslog is my second homepage on firefox. =D
I found this place over a year ago through that page on digg.

@24; kyle, what is your first? these days (in order) mine are bbc news, rlslog, digitalspy, gizmodo (that is rubbish these days), gmail, doom9. I would use a predb for my release news, but rlslog post any release that would get my attention (usually, though it takes epguides.com for the ones they miss!). Someone a while posted a site that gave a weekly report of what and when shows air in their countries, i wish i could find that again. Anyone who could help would be a legend!
Oh and to top gear fans, the show will be back soon as BBC have started running adverts for it (i cant wait, it beats 99% of shows, though it is tied with House!)
I mentioned this over a month ago on the forums: http://forums.rlslog.net/showthread.php?t=1984
hah, disregard that kyle, i had a bit of a senior moment and misread the first half of your post completly. as for that lolzor dude. you are blantantly not part of the scene and i bet you love reading about it here. your ctrl and v buttons must be very worn out if all of your comments are that clever
“Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here”
That statement contradicts itself.
I also agree, don’t make this scene public. You guys are already doing something right, given a few glitches every now and then. You don’t need trouble from authorities when they come along, regardless of what country you’re in. I’d hate to see this site go down!
yea i was on digg when it was down and i normally come to this site but i clicked on a few sites listed and rlslog too while it was down
Berating Digg’s users? Pretty ironic given that the vast majority of comments I see on Rlslog go like this: “OMGGZ CRACK DOESNT WORK HOW TO USE KEYGEN????????”, “FIRST LOOOOL!!!!!”
I use this site and i use digg and i feel like this site just ass fcuked me for using digg, way to go
You’re welcome.
have you guys forgotten about this??
The story was on the front page of digg
http://digg.com/movies/Please_Pirate_My_Sundance_Film?t=12439612
Don’t put releases on digg!!!!
Wow! This Digg seems to be a good site; Never knew of it’s existance! Well if RLSLog recommends it I might give them a few visits every now & then…
I discovered rlslog when they first started, back when they would add torrents to the mininova site from torrents already on trackers (mainly demonoid), but they would add “newtorrents” in the tag name. Then the newtorrents guy would leave a comment linking to rlslog. At first people thought it was a stupid site and a sleazy way of advertising.
Since then I’ve become the king around here.
-nuff said
OMG, someone post a torrent plz!
w00t! RLSLOG kicks major asz
w00t RLSLog
Digg sux munkey ballz
Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here, they are usually checking if the latest Battlestar Galactica is online
yo nerds , you just got fu*cked in the AS*S by rlslog, ha ha
Pffft… Digg ain’t got sht on shoutwire. http://www.shoutwire.com baby
actually someone put up those pics u took of Transformers 2 on DIGG like the same day it was posted here, maybe thats where they came from?
this is coming from a website that censors forum posts, and puts up advertisements from 3rd parties. awesome.
RLSlog had to be there.
And the geeky guys also know it.
I prefer reddit.com over digg. More mature audience
i sent people to this sight to laugh at it… this site is a joke. get a life
I agree with the real Mark L. This site gets about a visit a week just to make sure one of my other release sites didn’t miss anything. A site which used to get much more frequent visits now lacks the speed or amount of reviews. Out of all the releases you might hit about 2%. Heavy recruitment for some posters might get it going pretty good again. Best of luck. For all you daily RLSLOG’ers…search…there’s much better…
So now digg is in on getting paid to infect users with shi.tty winrar releases?
What happened to the Bollywood movies posts?
At one time, some crappy ones were posted here, but now when there are some good ones out, there seem to be no posts.
No harm in posting when its a really slow day.
Some of the really good ones don’t have the usual song n dance routine, which is the reason most people don’t seem to like them.
I think its funny how I dont use Digg, but yet i watch Diggnation
BOO YA to RLSLOG and of course to Digg.
Martin:
Digg isnt full of tech-savvy geeks like you imagine. It was certainly set up by those kind of people but the sites appeal has broadened over the years. There really is something for everyone there.
And all the tech-savvy geeks I know are also frenzied file-sharers!
hi there. i am a digger and i love and respect your site so much that i just couldn’t imagine internet without you guys. that also applies for digg. what you do is amazing. the thing with your rss? brilliant. so let’s put these on the side and move on. especially for a site that supports you that much it sounds really bad seeing this post. continue what you do both excellent both. cu.
What michael said! Totally agree! +1 michael, you are the man!
i visit digg.com 5 or 6 times a day, followed directly by rlslog
i can’t go a day without these sites ~_~
“Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here and then quickly leaving back to his funny images and dorky videos listed in Top 10.”
^^^^^ pretty sure this is a sarcasm.
Nope pretty sure the proliferation of highschool kids that look for pron using digg had a lot to do with that. And Digg will not pay you for advertising so don’t bother.
its got nothing to do with “doing your job right”, but its simple as rlslog url is just a fav site or just some vistited site by one of the digg staff.
theres little specialty related to that link to here.
get over it.
Do your job right???
Your an arrogant little prik aren’t you?
Posting infected software to shift other crap anti-malware software. Pushing a site selling fake watches and turning the comments off so you can’t be bashed. + A load of other things which make you both untrustworthy and completely unprofessional.
Guess what though, no one cares, neither does ‘Mark L’. He didn’t put this site next to the BBC for journalistic content believe me…
He linked to rlslog because, like us, he comes here for conveniant access to new scene releases. Your stupid comments/opinions/scams are just background noise.
How long before this post is deleted? LMAO
Digg and rlslog go hand in hand
Wow I didn’t even realise you guys were on that list of sites! Well done! Great achievment. Also I think you have stereotyped the Digg user base, don’t be surprised if many Digg users come here regularly as well.
http://digg.com/users/califloridan <– Mark L.
I use Digg everyday like a religion, right before I check Releaselog. I remember noticing the link last time Digg was down, and even took a screen shot
Great work guys
there was also this link on that site
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=irule2
Congrats, but one of those links was for a stupid new zealand rugby team so don’t get too high and mighty.
At least someone at digg has some taste.
If you’re looking for lots of hits then it’s done its job, but just because Britney Spears is popular doesn’t mean she’s any good.
…but I still love rlslog. You guys are awesome, and I’m just a grumpy internet user.
Keep up the great work.
rlslog FTW !!!!
ALL Hail Release Log
good job guys
