    Well, I installed the application and have it now running. The only problem is that in cannot do anything for the volume in which it is installed. An example: I have a single volume on my Mac. I installed this application and after registering, the first task I wanted from this app was to defragment my hard drive. Everything OK until the point when I’m asked to choose the volume to be defragmented. I choose the only one I have (the HD in my Mac) and then FAIL!!!! I get this message: “Drive Genius is running from this volume. Please start Drive Genius from another volume f you would like to defragment this volume.” That’s genius indeed. That means I need to make a partition of my drive, install another OSX, and then begin all the installation process all over again? Considering the time that it will take me to back up all my data (because partition erases your drive, am I wrong?), and then make the partition, and THEN install both OSX (and THEN restore my data) seems a waste of time considering the main reason I got this app was to save HD space. The partition and the new OSX will take such and amount of disk space that the amount I could recover from a defragmentation will be meaningless. I hope that I’m wrong, but unless you have already a partitioned drive running the same OSX on all your volumes, THIS APP IS USELESS.

    @ronin
    you need to burn the app into a cd or dvd and reboot your mac from the dvd

    Can’t be compared with some tools of the same type running on Window.

    @Ronin is a total n00b. As Gelin50 said, you need to boot from a different volume (such as a dvd) in order to partition a drive. That is the same required approach as with ANY other partitioning utility on any other operating system such as Windows. Get a clue and a life, Ronin.

    @Ronot, have you ever used Windows? Try Perfect Disk or O&O defrag or even Windows Defragmentation, we don’t need to boot from others to defrag C:

    @ ronin or u can use Disk Utility to make an image for a Flash Drive to boot Drive Genius from it.

    does anyone tried the defrag option? how good is it compared with iDefrag?

    @gelin50: Thanks for the advice. I could not believe there was such a flaw on the programing, so I just kept looking around for options to use the app, and I found it on the lace where I should have looked first: the instructions booklet. My, I felt so stupid.

    @Ronot: That was quiet unnecessary. I think I could get your point by simply givin’ Gelin50 credit. I’m sure you have never come up to something you don’t quite understand. Good for you. On the other hand, I’m happy to know that the only way to know new stuff is not knowing it before hand. Capish? ‘Thought so.
